Published: 01/01/03Robert F. BaughnPeru — Robert F. Baughn, 76, of the Fred Thew Road, Peru, died Monday, Dec. 30, 2002, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh. He was born in Plattsburgh, April 11, 1926, the son of Albert and Emma (Gebo) Baughn. He served in the U.S. Army and received the Bronze Star Medal, Purple Heart, Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, European-African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, World War II Victory Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge and the Honorable Service Lapel Button World War II. He was an honorary member of Rescue Hose 5, member of the Peru VFW Post 309 and the American Legion Post 20 in Plattsburgh. Bob enjoyed horseback riding, driving his car, mowing the lawn, fishing and spending time with family and friends. Survivors include his wife, the former Barbara A. Simpson of Peru; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Robert M. and Karen Baughn of Schenectady, Gene W. Baughn of Plattsburgh and John K. and Jane Baughn of Peru; two daughters and sons-in-law, Pamela Jean and Dennis Tromblee of Ballston Spa, Sandra D. and Thomas Martini of Morrisonville; three step children and spouses, Bernard and Sharron Austin of Syracuse, Bruce Austin of Washington and Betty Susan and Leroy Tyndall of Plattsburgh; six brothers and three sisters-in-law, Wesley and Catherine Baughn of Peru; identical twin brother, Roland N. Baughn of CadyviIle, E. Richard and Margaret Baughn of Virginia, Albert Baughn of Plattsburgh, Thomas Roy "Leo" Baughn of Florida and Allen and Kathleen Baughn of Morrisonville; several grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; first wife, Frances I. Brunell; grandsons, Matthew Baughn and Nicholas Baughn; and sister and brother-in-law, Laurina and Gene Ward. Calling hours will be held Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Peru. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday at 11 a.m. at St. Augustine's Church in Peru. Burial will be in the spring in the parish cemetery. Donations in his memory may be made to the St. Augustine's School and Rescue Hose 5. Donald L. FrenyaPlattsburgh — Donald L. Frenya, 44, of 22 Smith Street, Plattsburgh passed away on Friday, Dec. 27, 2002, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh. He was born in Plattsburgh on Oct. 13, 1958, son of Howard and Hilda Anne (Brushnefski) Frenya. Donald attended Beekmantown Central School and was employed at Mold-Rite Plastics, Inc., in Plattsburgh N.Y. Survivors include two brothers and sisters-in-law, James and Carrie Frenya of Morrisonville N.Y., Howard and Wanda Frenya of Williamstown Pa., and special friends, Tim and Dorie Rivers and family of Plattsburgh, N.Y. He collected coins, baseball cards and was an avid NASCAR fan. Donald also enjoyed spending time with his many friends. His mother died in April of 1970 and his father in June 2002. Calling hours will be Thursday, Jan. 2, 2003, 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. A brief service will be held at 9 p.m. in the funeral home. Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh is in charge of arrangements. Donations in his memory may be made to American Heart Association, 21 Plattsburgh Plaza, Plattsburgh NY 12901 Victoria Soucia ParentChurubusco — Victoria Soucia Parent, 86, died Monday, Dec. 30, 2002, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh. She was born in Chateaugay on June 7, 1916, the youngest of eight children born to Joseph and Marguerette (Haineault) Soucia. She attended school in Clinton Mills. On May 29, 1933, she married Delore Parent in Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Churubusco. She was employed at Chazy Orchards and later at the dress factory in Malone and she also helped operate the family farm with her husband. She was a member of Immaculate Heart Church in Churubusco and was a former member of the Altar Rosary Society. She enjoyed cooking for her family, sewing and caring for her flowers. She also enjoyed feeding and watching birds. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Sherwood and Carolyn Parent of Churubusco, Robert and Celia Parent of Oxford, N.Y.; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Theresa and Gary Cook of Guilford, N.Y., June and William DuFrane of Andrews, N.C., Christine Martin and Robert Ouellette of Plattsburgh; a sister in law, Evelyn Soucia of Chateaugay; 17 grandchildren, Roger Cook of Binghamton, Jack Cook of Endicott, Dale Cook of Oxford, Penny LeClair of Chazy Lake, Mark Parent of Churubusco, Cathy Parent of Churubusco, Julie LeClair of Churubusco, Scott Parent of Malone, Christopher Parent of Churubusco, Carrie Parent of Mooers Forks, Pamela Kalman of Chazy, Allen Parent of Chazy, Victoria Parent of Oxford, Derrick DuFrane of Altona, Todd Martin of Plattsburgh, Travis Martin of Plattsburgh, Robert Ouellette of Plattsburgh; 20 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Her husband, Delore Parent died on January 24, 1998. Four brothers, Joseph, Albert, Arthur and Fred Soucia; and three sisters, Agnes Silver, Antionette Silver and Mary Burgoyne, also died earlier. Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the E.F. Drown Funeral Service in Ellenburg Depot. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Friday from Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Churubusco. Interment will be in the parish cemetery in the spring. For directions and guestbook, please visit www.legacy.com. Erwin J. Carr, 80, of Ketchum Street, Malone, N.Y., died early Tuesday morning, Dec. 31, 2002, at the Alice Hyde Medical Center in Malone. He had been a patient there since Dec. 30. He was born in Ogdensburg, N.Y., Oct. 7, 1922, the son of the late Floyd and Myrtle (Barkley) Carr. There are no calling hours. A funeral service will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. in the Bruso-Desnoyers Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Tom Davis officiating. Burial will be in Morningside Cemetery in Malone in the spring. Amanda LaRocque Smith, 103, of North Little Wolf Road, Tupper Lake, died Saturday, Dec. 28, 2002, at the Mercy Healthcare Center in Tupper Lake. A funeral Mass was held on Tuesday, Dec. 31 at St. Alphonsus Church at 2 p.m. with Father Donald Kramburg officiating. Francis D. Fountain Jr., 66, of Hill Street, Keeseville, died Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2002, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh. A memorial Mass will be celebrated Friday at 2 p.m. at St. John's Church in Keeseville. Burial will be in the spring in the parish cemetery. A complete obituary will be in Thursdays Press. Arrangements are by the Hamilton Funeral Home in Keeseville. Lumina F. LeClair, 87, of the Blanche Road, Merrill, died Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2002, at CVPH Medical Center, Plattsburgh, where she had been a patient since Dec. 23, 2002. Arrangements are incomplete through the Chateaugay Funeral Home and will be announced at a later date. |
