John Cross Jr.

RICHVILLE, N.Y. — John "Beanie" Cross Jr., 49, of 179 Bilow Road, died Friday morning in Strong Memorial Hospital, Rochester, where he had been awaiting a liver transplant.

Mr. Cross had worked as a bartender at the Tavern & Cobble Hill, Elizabethtown, at Crosses Garage, Elizabethtown, at Schroon Lake Tractor in Schroon Lake and Gouverneur, and for Telmark Leasing Co. of Syracuse, a division of Agway Inc.

Born March 1, 1953, in Elizabethtown, son of John and Rigmor (Naerup) Cross, he graduated from Elizabethtown-Lewis High School and married Katherine Bonk on May 30, 1987.

He was a member of Richville United Church, Couples Club and Gouverneur Elks Lodge, a member and former chief of Richville Volunteer Fire Department, Gouverneur Fire Department and Whitton Hunting Club near Harrisville. He was an avid hunter.

Surviving besides his wife are two sons, Clay E. and Kent M., both at home; his mother, Rigmor "Lill" Cross, Elizabethtown; his stepmother, Judy Cross, Lewis; four sisters, Mrs. Ed (Jane Grzanowski and Mrs. Tracey (Joyce) Spooner, both of Lewis, Janet Cross, Elizabethtown, and Mrs. Ernie (Jackie) Lamoureux, Middleboro, Mass., and many nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Green Funeral Home, Gouverneur.

There will be no funeral. Burial will be at a later date.

Donations may be made to Richville First Responders, Richville Volunteer Fire Department or Gouverneur Volunteer Rescue Squad.

A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday at the United Church of Christ in Elizabethtown.

Henry D. Turner

PLATTSBURGH — Henry D. Turner, 80, died Saturday, Dec. 28, 2002, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

He was born in Dannemora on Sept. 4, 1922, the son of Charles A. and Elizabeth (Farrell) Turner.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the 6th combat battalion and was a test analyst for N.Y. Telephone for many years.

He is survived by three sons, Howard Turner of West Chazy, John Turner of Plattsburgh and Donald Turner of Florida; three daughters, Natalie Laundry of Plattsburgh, Doreen Amico of Plattsburgh and Robin Gwinn of Plattsburgh; two brothers, Lee Turner of Norwood and Mark Turner of Cumberland Head; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

His wife, Agnes (Fournier) Turner died earlier. Two sons, Harold and Gary; a brother, Charles; two sisters, Madeline and Theresa; and two grandchildren, Bradley Dean Turner and Alex Turner also died before him.

There will be no calling hours. Services will be held at the convenience of the family. Memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association.

The O’Neill-Redden-Drown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh is in charge of arrangements.

ANN E. GOODMAN, 82, of Franklin Street, Malone died Saturday, Dec. 28, 2002, at Alice Hyde Medical Center in Malone.

Born in Malone on April 10, 1920, she was the daughter of the late James and Laura (McGillie) Monaghan.

There will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 2, 2003, in St. Joseph’s Church in Malone, with the Rev. Msgr. C. John McAvoy, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery at a later date.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Franklin County chapter of the American Red Cross.

Arrangements are through the Bruso-Desnoyers Funeral Service, Inc. of Malone.

JOHN F. McCANN, 84, died Saturday, Dec. 28, 2002, at the Cosgrove Adult Home on Farker Road, Churubusco.

Born in Chateaugay on Jan. 26, 1918, he was the son of James and Florence (O’Meara) McCann.

Calling hours will be held at Chateaugay Funeral Home from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 30.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 31, in Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Churubusco, with the Rev. Howard McCasland officiating.

Burial will take place in the spring at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Chateaugay.

JOSEPHINE A. KABISCH, 88, formerly of the Vale Haven Adult Home in Malone and St. Petersburg, Fla., died Saturday, Dec. 28, 2002, at the Franklin County Nursing Home in Malone.

Born in the Bronx on Oct. 23, 1914, she was the daughter of the late Jerry and Anna (Greco) Carfora.

There are no calling hours. Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family.

Donations may be made in her memory to the charity of one’s choice.

Arrangements are through the Bruso-Desnoyers Funeral Service, Inc. in Malone.
