Marilyn L. Brinton

PORT KENT — Marilyn L. Brinton, 62, of Second Street, Port Kent, died Saturday, Dec. 14, 2002 at Fletcher Allen Health Care Center in Burlington, Vt.

She was born in Ithaca on Nov. 22, 1940, the daughter of Edward W. and Marion (Goodrich) Long.

She married Bradford H. Brinton on June 8, 1963 at the Immaculate Conception Church in Keeseville.

Mrs. Brinton was a kindergarten and third grade teacher at the Keeseville Elementary School, and from 1978 to 1983 was the first woman boys’ soccer coach at the AuSable Valley Central School.

She was a member of the Peru Community Church Ladies Guild and Choir, a member of the Keeseville/Peru Ecumenical Choir, past grand matron and district deputy for the Daughters of the Eastern Star, and the Quilters Guild. She enjoyed quilting, tatting, needlework, crocheting, flower gardening, and collecting postcards.

Survivors include her husband, Bradford H. Brinton of Port Kent; one son and daughter-in-law, Bradford T. Brinton and Lori D. Frappier of Toronto; two daughters, Sara Brinton of glens Falls and Marcia Brinton of Port Kent; two grandchildren, Tristan C. Frappier-Brinton and Karina H. Frappier-Brinton; one brother and sister-in-law, Edward W. II and Joyce Long of Saranac Lake; one sister-in-law, Alyce Long of San Francisco, Calif.; and nine nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents and one brother, Norman G. Long.

Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, Dec. 16 at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Keeseville. A funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Peru Community Church with the Rev. Robert Svenson officiating. Burial will follow in the Port Douglas Cemetery.

Donations in her memory may be made to the Keeseville Rescue Squad or the Fitzpatrick Cancer Center.

Harry Walcoff

BURLINGTON, Vt. — Harry Walcoff, 78, of Burlington, died Saturday, December 14, 2002 at the Vermont Respite House in Williston.

He was born in New York City on Feb. 24, 1924, the son of the late Solomon and Elise (Bernstein) Walcoff.

Harry grew up in Trenton, N.J. and graduated from North Carolina State University with a degree in textile engineering. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the Pacific Theater in the U.S. Army infantry.

Harry was married to Pearl Goldstein, with whom he owned and operated the Beverly Pearl women’s clothing stores in Plattsburgh and Burlington. Pearl predeceased him in 1973.

In 1986, Harry married Dorothy Dickey Bourlier, who survives him. He is also survived by his daughter, Stefi Flanders, and her husband, Steve, and their son, Daniel, of Colchester; his son, Hale, and his wife Nellie, and their daughter, Wendy, of Adamsville, R.I.; two step-children, Robert Bourlier, and his wife, Diane, and their son, Andrew, of Bradenton, Fla., and Deborah (Bourlier) Blake and her husband, Rockwell, of Plattsburgh.

Harry was an avid sailor. As a past commodore of the Valcour Sailing Club while living in Plattsburgh, he and his racing crew took home many trophies on both sides of Lake Champlain. After moving to Burlington, he was a member of the Malletts Bay Boat Club, where he continued sail-boat racing.

After he retired form the retail business in 1990, Harry and Dot spent winters in Florida on their cruising boat and sailing the Keys and the Bahamas.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Harry Walcoff’s memory may be made to the King Street Area Youth Center, 87 King St., Burlington, VT 05401. Visiting hours will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Ready Funeral Home, South Chapel, 261 Shelburne Road.

THERESA S. DORR, 88, of Highland Road, Keeseville, died Sunday, Dec. 15, 2002, at her home.

A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 19, 2002 at the Keeseville United Methodist Church with the Rev. Sally White, pastor, officiating.

A complete obituary will be in the Tuesday press.

Arrangements are with the Hamilton Funeral Home.

OLIVE M. ELKINS, 82, formerly of Keeseville, died Sunday, Dec. 15, 2002 at the Meadowbrook Healthcare Center in Plattsburgh.

MARJORIE G. HAVENS, 74 of Truman Avenue, Plattsburgh, died Friday, Dec. 13, 2002 at her home.

Arrangements are incomplete with the Hamilton Funeral Home.

ANNIS E. TOBIN, 93, of Beekman Street, died Sunday, Dec. 15, 2002 at Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington, Vt.

She was born on Dec. 13, 1909 in Cadyville, the daughter of Charles and Susan (Darrah) Norcross.

Arrangements are incomplete at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh.

CHRISTOPHER EMMET HALLOWELL, 30, of Westport, died Thursday, Dec. 12, 2002, at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, Mass.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 28 at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Essex. W.M. Marvin’s Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

CHARLOTTE (PECK) MILLER, 78, of Lake Placid and Daytona Beach, Fla., died Thursday, Dec. 12 in Daytona Beach.

She was born in Lake Placid.

Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. tonight at Clark Funeral Home in Lake Placid. There will be a Bible vigil service at the funeral home at 8:30 p.m. tonight. A Mass of Christian burial will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Agnes Church in Lake Placid with the Rev. Michael Gaffney, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the North Elba Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association, Northeastern Region, P.O. Box 1980, Plattsburgh, NY 12901-1980.
