Published: 12/8/02Gloria M. PaulPLATTSBURGH - Gloria M. Paul, 56, of 154 Pellerin Rd., died early Saturday morning, Dec. 7, 2002, at the CVPH Medical Center. Mrs. Paul was born in Mooers Forks on Dec. 25, 1945, the daughter of Homer and Geraldine (Bobbie) Barcomb Sr. She married Francis "Peanut" J. Paul in Plattsburgh in 1986. Mrs. Paul was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church in West Chazy. She worked in the jewelry department of Service Merchandise for 12 years, then at Perrywinkles Jewelers for four years, retiring from A. Schonbek & Co. earlier this year due to illness. Survivors include her husband Francis; three sons, Ronald Chauvin and Robert Chauvin and his companion Tracy Everleth, all of Treadwells Mills and Mark Chauvin and his wife Suzanne of Chazy; one daughter, Christina Lambert and her husband Greg of Saranac; her mother, Geraldine Barcomb of Plattsburgh; two brothers, Eugene Barcomb and his wife Lynn of North Walpole, N.H., and Walter Barcomb of New York; one sister, Beverly Trudeau and her husband Edward of Ticonderoga; 11 grandchildren, Sean, Cameron, Tanner, Stephanie and Jacob Chauvin, Brittanny Soulia, Jessica Burdo, Katie, Ashley, Corine and Rochelle Lambert; and several nieces and nephews. One brother, Homer Barcomb Jr., died earlier. Calling hours will be held Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian burial will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at St. Joseph's. Burial will be in the parish cemetery in the spring. Donations in Gloria's name may be made to the American Cancer Society. Evelyn M. GarrandMOOERS FORKS - Evelyn M. Garrand, 73, died Saturday, Dec. 7, 2002, at her home. She was born in Perrys Mills on Nov. 25, 1929, the daughter of Henry and Clara (LaFave) Rabideau. Evelyn worked at the Mooers Slipper Factory for several years and was a foster parent for 22 years. She and her husband Roger received the foster parents of the year award. She was a member of St. Ann's Church in Mooers Forks. Survivors include her husband Roger of Mooers Forks; five sons and three daughters-in-law, Roger H. and Debra Garrand of Mooers Forks, Ronald J. and Darlene of Mooers Forks, Dennis and Tammy Garrand of Mooers, Robert Dubuque and his companion Renea Tobias of South Carolina and Noel Garrand of Mooers Forks; three daughters and three sons-in-law, Carol and Frederick Pelletier of British Columbia, Sandra and Michael Monette of Mooers Forks and Sharon and Randy LaValley of Mooers; a brother, Lawrence LaFave of Mooers Forks; two sisters, Ruby Tetreault of Champlain and Patricia LaFave of Morrisonville; 18 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Two sisters, Ella Whitis and Hazel Duffina and a brother, Francis LaFave, died before her. Calling hours will be Monday, Dec. 9, 2002, from 3 to 7 p.m. at the E.F. Drown Funeral Service in Mooers. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, Dec. 10th, at 10 a.m. from St. Ann's Church in Mooers Forks. Burial will follow at Whispering Maples Memorial Gardens Mausoleum in Ellenburg Depot. Donations may be made in her memory to Hospice of the North Country or to the Mooers Rescue Squad. Donald W. WheelerBURKE, N.Y. - Mr. Donald W. Wheeler, 77, of County Road 29 in Burke, N.Y., passed away at his home Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2002, while under the care of his family and Hospice of the North Country. He was born in Cornwall, Ontario, on March 12, 1925, the son of the late William and Justena (McDonald) Wheeler. He attended school in St. Andrew's West, Ontario. On June 25, 1951, he was united in marriage to the former Mary Frances MacDonald in St. Andrew's Church in St. Andrew's West, Ontario. She survives. Mr. Wheeler was a successful dairy farmer for 40 years on the Jamieson Line Road in Burke. He was a communicant of St. Patrick's Church in Chateaugay, N.Y., and was a 3rd Degree member of the Knights of Columbus Council 308 in Malone. He was also a member of the Malone Lodge of Moose and the Franklin County Cooperative Extension. He was a past recipient of the New York State Dairy of Distinction Award. His hobbies included ice hockey and woodworking. He was an avid Toronto Maple Leafs fan. Besides his wife, he is survived by five sons and four daughters-in-law, Kenneth and Jean Wheeler of Hartford, N.Y., James and Linda Wheeler of Brewerton, N.Y., Dwayne and Traci Wheeler of Southlake, Texas, Perry and Sherry Wheeler of Burke and Paddy Wheeler of Burke; five daughters and four sons-in-law, Donna Gagnier and her companion Martin Wright of Malone, Diane and Anthony Ashline of Burke, Marie and Mark Schnitzer of Latham, N.Y., Ginger and Jeffry Rivers of Malone and Lori and Aaron Schaffer of Canajoharie, N.Y. There are two brothers and sisters-in-law, William and Mildred Wheeler and Lorne and Inez Wheeler, all of St. Andrew's West; a sister-in-law, Helena Wheeler of Cornwall, Ontario; 13 grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, Leonard and Vincent Wheeler. Calling hours will be Sunday, Dec. 8th, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Bruso-Desnoyers Funeral Horne in Malone. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, Dec. 9th, at noon at St. Patrick's Church in Chateaugay, with the Rev. Raymond Moreau, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Patrick's Church in Chateaugay or to Hospice of the North Country. Ernest O. "Ernie" GauthierISLE LAMOTTE, VT. - Mr. Ernest O. "Ernie" Gauthier, 86, formerly of Plattsburgh, passed away Saturday, Dec. 7, 2002, at the home of his daughter and son-in-law, Mary Lou and Phil Beauharnois. He was born in Cornwall, Ontario, on March 12, 1916, the son of Cyprien Samuel and Maria (Hemond) Gauthier. Ernest was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy Sea Bees in the 35th Battalion and was honorably discharged. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service on March 12, 1976. He enjoyed vegetable gardening and working on and building his second home on Isle LaMotte, Vt. Ernest was predeceased by his parents, Cyprien Samuel and Maria Gauthier; his first wife, Dorothy (Jarvis) Gauthier in 1984; and four sisters. He was a member of St. Peter's Church, Plattsburgh and St. Anne's Shrine in Isle LaMotte. Ernest is survived by his wife Thelma (Tyndall) Gauthier, whom he married Sept. 14, 1985, at St. Anne's Shrine in Isle LaMotte; his daughter, Mary Lou Beauharnois and her husband Phil of Isle LaMotte, Vt.; four sons, George Tyndall and his wife Daisy of Los Angeles, Calif., Carl Tyndall and his wife Ann of Gilroy, Calif., John Tyndall and his wife Carolyn of Champlain, N.Y., and Dean Tyndall of Plattsburgh; several grandchildren; great - grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be Monday from 1 to 1:45 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home, Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday at 2 p.m. at St. Peter's Church. Interment will be at a later date in St. Peter's Cemetery. Donations in his memory may be made to St. Anne's Shrine or St. Peter's Church. MARY J. BALMFORTH, 83, of Waterhouse Street in Plattsburgh, died Friday, Dec. 6, 2002, at her home. She was born in England on June 9, 1919, the daughter of Stanley and Mary (Plews) Turfrey. Funeral services are private and at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are by the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. |
