Published: 12/06/02Dr. Paul DragooConstable — Dr. Paul Dragoo, 80, of Constable, died Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2002, at the Alice Hyde Nursing Home. He was born in Schenevus, N.Y., on April 17, 1922, a son of Ray and Mattie (Nies) Dragoo. He graduated from Schenevus High School in 1939 and was a 1943 graduate of Cornell University with a degree in veterinary medicine. He practiced for many years in Northern New York and in later years he was supervising veterinary medical officer with the federal meat inspection program. He retired in 2000. A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged. He married the former Lois Jarvis on Sept. 12, 1945, at the Burke Belmont Presbyterian Church. She predeceased him June 19, 2000. Dr. Dragoo was an active member of Northern Constellation Lodge 291 and the Shriners. He was a former member and Past Patron of Glenwood Chapter Order of Eastern Star. He was also a member and past president of the Malone Central School Board of Education and American Legion Post 219. Surviving are two sons and a daughter-in-law, Ray Dragoo of Harwood, Md., and Roy Dragoo and his wife Eliza of Haddam, Conn.; five daughters and four sons-in-law, Mrs. Roy Patricia Borgstede of Harwood, Md., Mrs. Michael (Nancy) Mieszazck, Mrs. Martha Donnelly, Mrs. Dean (Tracie) Arnold, all of Grand Island, N.Y., and Mrs. Gregory Theresa (Tess) Dumas of Burke, N.Y.; a brother, Russell Dragoo of Arizona; a sister, Mrs. Marion Hansen of Schenevus, N.Y.; and seven grandchildren, Beth and Jon Dumas, Paul, Alison, Patrick and Rebecca Donnelly and Schyler Dragoo. He was predeceased by a sister, Ruth McAuliff. Calling hours for family and friends will be held Friday at the Spaulding Funeral Home from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A funeral service will be on Saturday at 10 a.m. in the funeral home, Rev. Tom Davis presiding. Interment will be in Constable Cemetery. Paul L. RabatoyDANNEMORA — Paul L. Rabatoy, 89, of 1178 Cook St., died Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2002, at the CVPH Medical Center. He was born in Port Henry on April 6, 1913, the son of Peter and Estella (Hunter) Rabatoy. Mr. Rabatoy married the former Myrtle M. Romeo at St. Joseph's Church in Dannemora in 1945. She died in 1995. He was a member of St. Joseph's Church, a life member and former Grand Knight of Dannemora Knights of Columbus, a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 125 and a life member of the Siberian Rod and Gun Club. He was a former member of the Plattsburgh Lodge of Elks and American Legion Post 0852 in Dannemora. Mr. Rabatoy managed the Grand Union in Dannemora for several years until entering the U.S. Army in 1942. He served in the South Pacific as part of the American Division in New Caledonia from 1942 to 1946. From 1946 to 1975, he was a correction officer at the Dannemora State Hospital. He is survived by several nieces, nephews and grandnieces and nephews. He was predeceased by four brothers and three sisters. Calling hours will be held Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian burial will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church in Dannemora, followed by entombment in Whispering Maples Mausoleum in Plattsburgh. Donations in his memory may be made to the Dannemora Volunteer Fire Department. Terry W. CraigWest Plattsburgh — Mr. Terry W. Craig, 50, of Black Bear Path, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2002, at his home following a long illness. He was born in Ticonderoga on May 15, 1952, the son of James L. and Margaret N. (Gonyea) Craig. Terry was self-employed in construction, having built many homes in the area and was employed as a carpenter at Clinton Correctional Facility in Dannemora. He enjoyed snow shoeing, fishing, boating, wood working, classic cars and spending time with his family. He was predeceased by his father, James Craig. He is survived by his wife of 15 years, Patricia (Buckley) Craig of West Plattsburgh; his children, Joseph, Conor and Hope at home; his mother, Margaret Craig of Hudson Falls, N.Y.; three brothers, James Craig and his wife Penny of Mexico, N.Y., Richard Craig and his wife Lynette of West Chazy and William Craig and his wife Gina of Irmo, S.C.; four sisters, Margaret A. Craig of Hudson Falls, N.Y., Brenda Fosco and her husband Carl of Hudson Falls, Jane Jansen and her husband Theo of Charlotte, N.C., and Janine Powell and her husband Ronald of Ft. Collins, Colo.; his father and mother-in-law, Robert and Rita Buckley of Dannemora and their children, Greg and Caroline Buckley of Saranac, Thomas and Jane Ehrich of Binghamton, N.Y., Daniel and Maryann LeFevre of Morrisonville, Mitchell and Margaret "Peggy" Rabideau of Plattsburgh; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Calling hours will be Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home, Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church, Dannemora. Lillian Moore, 99, formerly of Brainardsville, died Thursday, Dec. 5. 2002, at the Franklin County Nursing Home where she had been a patient since April 9, 1999. Calling hours will be held Saturday, Dec. 7th, at the Chateaugay Funeral Home from 1 to 3 p.m. The funeral service will be held immediately following in the funeral home chapel. Dorinth G. Fleury, 95, of the Farrar Home, Constable Street, Malone, died Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2002, at the Alice Hyde Medical Center. She was born in East Corinth, Vt., on June 16, 1907, the daughter of Willis and Grace (Rockhill) Simmons. Calling hours will be Friday, Dec. 6, 2002, from 3 to 6 p.m. in the St. Mary-Murphy Funeral Home chapel. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday, Dec. 7, 2002, at 10 a.m. in Notre Dame Church with Rev. Shane Lynch officiating. Spring burial will be in St. Francis of Assisi Cemetery, Constable, N.Y. Donald W. Wheeler, 77, of County Road 29 in Burke, N.Y., died at his home on Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2002, while under the care of his family and Hospice of the North Country. He was born in Cornwall, Ontario, on March 12, 1925, the son of the late William and Justena (McDonald) Wheeler. Calling hours will be Sunday, Dec. 8th, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Bruso-Desnoyers Funeral Home in Malone. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, Dec. 9th, at noon at St. Patrick's Church in Chateaugay, with the Rev. Raymond Moreau, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. John J. Casey, 43, of State Route 11, Brushton, N.Y., died Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2002, at his late home under the care of his family and Hospice of the North Country. He was born in Malone, N.Y., on Oct. 26, 1959, the son of Hugh and Lillian (Marlow) Casey. Calling hours will be on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Bruso-Desnoyers Funeral Home in Malone. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday, Dec. 7th, at 11 a.m. in St. Mary's Church in Brushton, with the Rev. Alfred Fish, pastor, officiating, Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. |
