Published: 12/05/02Edward H. Wagner Sr.Peru — Edward H. Wagner Sr., 79, of LaFlure Lane, Peru, formerly of Mountaineer Drive, died Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2002, at his home under the care of his family and Hospice of the North Country. He was born in New York City, Oct. 19, 1923, the son of Rudolph and Bertha (Lauten) Wagner. Mr. Wagner married the former Jean McGeechan, Sept. 26, 1948, at St. Raymond's Church in Bronx, N.Y. He lived in Levant, Maine, from 1951 to 1967 and worked at Dow Air Force Base in Bangor and transferred to Plattsburgh Air Force Base and worked as a contracting officer prior to his retirement. He served on the Levant School Board for six years and was a member of the Town Zoning Board and Volunteer Fire Department. He was former President of the Plattsburgh National Association of Federal Employees. He was a member of St. John's Church in Keeseville, the Plattsburgh Elks Lodge 621, a life member of the American Legion Post 20 in Plattsburgh, a life member of the Disabled American Veterans, member of the Seniors Bowling League and a former member of the Plattsburgh Lions Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, boating and other outdoor activities. Survivors include his wife, Jean Wagner of Peru; one son and daughter-in-law, Edward H. Jr. and Marcia Wagner of Windham, N.H.; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Margaret A. and Steven Sweeney of Calais, Vt., Louise J. and Hugh Kelly of Troy, Ohio, Susan M. Wagner of Peru, and Kathleen L. Wagner and Stephen Young of Londonderry, N.H.; and 14 grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents; one sister, Ruth Schmitt; and a niece, June Schmitt. Calling hours will be held Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Peru. Members of the Plattsburgh Elks Lodge will meet at 3 p.m. for services and members of the American Legion Post 20 will meet at 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. Augustine's Church in Peru. Burial will be held Monday at the Saratoga National Cemetery in Saratoga. Donations in his memory may be made to Hospice of the North Country or the FitzPatrick Cancer Center. Walter (Wally) Carl KingSan Antonio, Texas — Wally suffered a fatal heart attack on Aug. 9, 2002, in San Antonio, Texas. He was born on Dec. 4, 1938, in Altona, N.Y., to David J. King Jr. and Christina L. (Bromley) King. Wally attended school in Altona and at Our Lady of Victory Academy in Plattsburgh, from which he graduated. Wally then served two years in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in 1965. Before leaving this area in 1979, he served several years with the City of Plattsburgh Police Department. After cremation, Willy was given a military honors burial at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas. Wally was predeceased by his father on Jan. 26, 1975; his mother on Oct. 2, 1979 and a son, Kevin, in 2001. Wally is survived by a son, Sean and a daughter Jennifer of San Antonio, Texas; two sisters, Mrs. Alice J. (King) and Mr. Bernard E. Perry Sr., Chazy, N.Y.; Mrs. Martha J. (King) and Robert Dickinson of Oakfield, Maine; three brothers, Delbert D. and Jeannette King of Bloomington, Ill. and Venice, Fla.; Wayne G. and Paulletta King of Columbia, Mo., and Donald E. and Sarah King of Kittery, Maine. Also surviving are eight nieces, nine nephews and several cousins. Marguerite Fitzgerald DouglasSILVER LAKE — Marguerite Fitzgerald Douglas, died Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2002, at the CVPH Medical Center, Plattsburgh. She was born in Union Falls, Aug. 30, 1912, the daughter of Michael and Ida (Dupraw) Fitzgerald. She lived her entire life in Silver Lake. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Leroy and Joan Douglas; three grandchildren, Michael and Michelle Douglas, Roger and Christine Douglas, Laurie and James Roy; seven great-grandchildren, Miranda and Cody Douglas, Natasha and Savannah Douglas, Courtney, Conner and Payton Roy, all living in Silver Lake; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Roy Douglas in 1975; a sister, Rita Ellan; three brothers, Michael, William and Kermit Fitzgerald. Marguerite was the matron of the Douglas family in Silver Lake, after the death of her husband Roy. Marguerite attended AuSable Forks High School, graduated from Champlain Valley Hospital School of Nursing and attended Western Reserve University were she was licensed as a Public Health Nurse in September 1939. She also attended Syracuse University and was licensed as a School Nurse Teacher in 1942 and served as President of School Nurse Teachers Conference of North East Zone. She was School Nurse Teacher for 32 years at AuSable Forks Central School. She was also a member of Clinton Community College Foundation from 1975 to 1998. Marguerite was owner and president of Douglas Corp. of Silver Lake for 20 years after her husbands death until 1995. Marguerite always accomplished what she aimed for in life, especially her main goal to make her family and everyone else around her happy. She was loved and will be missed by all. Calling hours will be Friday, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Zaumetzer-Sprague Funeral Home, AuSable Forks. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Holy Name Catholic Church, AuSable Forks. Burial will be at a later date in the family plot of the parish cemetery. Memorials to her may be made to the Holy Name School Memorial Fund. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Milton "Mickey" Daniel LaForestALTONA — Milton Daniel LaForest, 61, of Altona died Monday, Dec. 2, 2002, at his home. Milton was born March 1, 1941, in Chaplain, N.Y., the son of Henry and Laura (Baker) LaForest. He served in the United States Navy from 1960-1964, worked as a truck driver for Anchor Motor Freight in Champlain, N.Y. for several years and then for Allied Systems in Dallas, Texas. Milton is survived by his ex-wife, Aphrodite LaForest of Plattsburgh, N.Y.; his sons, Pascali LaForest of Salem, N.H., Henry LaForest II and his wife of Saranac, N.Y., Vasso LaForest and his wife of Cadyville, N.Y., Michael LaForest and his wife of Louisville, Ky.; his seven grandchildren, Kathryn, Nikkole, Zachery, Taylor, Courtney, Kristen and Garrett; his brothers, Leon LaForest and his wife, Bernard LaForest, Melvin LaForest and his wife, Vernon LaForest and his wife; his sisters, Harriet Smart, Marilyn Warnock and her husband; brother-in-law, George Tallman; sister-in-law, Rita LaForest; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Henry and Laura LaForest; his brothers, Adrien LaForest and Clarence LaForest; and by his sisters, Ella LaFountain and her husband and Doris Tallman. Calling hours will be Thursday, Dec. 5, 2002, at Walker’s Funeral Home from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 6, 2002 at St. James Minor Church, Cadyville. Memorial donations may be made to the Altona Volunteer Fire Department. Terry W. Craig, 50, of Black Bear Path, Morrisonville, died on Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2002, at his home following a long illness.
