Cecilia M. Trudeau

Altona/Peekskill — Cecilia M. Trudeau, 97, currently of Plattsburgh, died Monday, Nov. 25, 2002, at the Meadowbrook Healthcare Center in Plattsburgh.

She was born in Altona, Oct. 30, 1905, the daughter of Norman and Adele (Lashway) Trudeau.

She graduated from Plattsburgh Normal School in 1927 and received her masters degree from New York University.

Cecilia was a teacher for many years working at Hendrick Hudson High School in Buchanan, N.Y. She was a member of the Peekskill Teachers Association, the New York State Retired Teachers Association, the Delta Kappa Gamma and a very active member of the Church of the Assumption in Peekskill.

She enjoyed playing bridge and traveling.

Survivors include nieces and spouses, Hilda Relation of West Chazy, Clare and Jean Beaubriand of Plattsburgh, Janet and Raymond Crowley of Altona, Bertha and Bill Pombrio of Dannemora; several other nieces; several grandnieces and nephews; and great-grand nieces and nephews and their children.

Calling hours will be held Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Peru.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 12:30 p.m. at the Holy Angels Church in Altona with Rev. Gilbert Boisvert, pastor, celebrating. Burial will be held next year in the parish cemetery.

Donations in her memory may be made to the Church of the Assumption in Peekskill.

Nellie Clara Burdo

Plattsburgh — Nellie Clara Burdo, 96, died Sunday, Nov. 24, 2002, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

Born in Clinton, Mass., on Feb. 19, 1906, she was the daughter of Ben and Felinda (Peet) Nephew.

Nellie was a former member of St. Edmund's Church and Ellenburg Senior Citizens and a former member of St. Ann's Society.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Homer and Mildred Burdo of Plattsburgh; five daughters and three sons-in- law, Lillian and Howard Cayea of Ellenburg Depot, Bertha Forrette of Ellenburg Depot, Irene and Lawrence Trombley of Ellenburg Center, Dorothy Giroux of Plattsburgh and Edna and Patrick McCabe of West Chazy; two sisters, Theresa LaRochelle and Irene McComb, both of Mooers Forks; 23 grandchildren, 57 great-grandchildren; 16 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Her husband, Peter, died on March 18, 1979. One son, Albert, and four grandchildren, Carl Trombley, Susan Cayea, Mary Beth Hart and Ronald Giroux, all died before her. Also, eight brothers and five sisters died before her.

Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 26 at the O'Neill-Redden-Drown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, Nov. 27 at 10 a.m. at Holy Angels Church in Altona. Burial will be in the parish cemetery in the spring.

Gary F. Smith

Elizabethtown — Gary F. Smith, 52, of Fair Lane Way, Elizabethtown, N.Y., died Saturday, Nov. 23, 2002, at the CVPH. Medical Center, Plattsburgh, N.Y.

Gary was born on Jan. 31, 1950, in Mineville, N.Y., the son of William and Agnes (Weston) Smith.

He is survived by his daughter, Wendy Rotella of Mineville; his fiancee, Robin Merrill of Elizabethtown; his sisters, Sharon Rice of Gansevoort and Terry Tatro of Port Henry; his brothers, Patrick Smith of Gansevoort, Leon Smith of Witherbee, Larry Smith of Mineville and William Murdock of Witherbee; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2002, 7 to 8 p.m. at the Harland Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Rev Michael Toth will officiate.

Rodney "Bum" Owen

Lyon Mountain — Rodney "Bum" Owen, 76, died Sunday, Nov. 24, 2002, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Keeseville on Oct. 4, 1926, the son of Herbert and Julia (McClean) Owen.

After graduating from Keeseville High School, Rodney entered the Marine Corps and was a World War II veteran. He worked at the Republic Steel Mines from 1946-1959, then worked for the NYS Department of Corrections for 29 years. He was a member of the Board of Education for Lyon Mountain and Northern Adirondack Central School for 12 years from 1962-1974. He belonged to the Lyon Mountain Fire Department for 30 years and was also a member of the Sorrell Woodward American Legion and a member of the Little Camp.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, the former Marilyn Morse of Lyon Mountain; a son and daughter-in-law, Reginald and Kathleen Owen of Lyon Mountain; two daughters, Brenda Owen of Lyon Mountain and Kathy Owen of Plattsburgh; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Hazel LaBounty of Keeseville and Maida and Raymond LeClair of Keeseville; his twin brother, Robert Owen of Keeseville; eight grandchildren, Michelle and Tim MacCullum, Carrie and Corey Finlayson, Kenneth and Ina Ashline and Eric and Sarah Owen; four great-grandchildren, Connor Finlayson, Collin and Emily MacCullum and Steven Ashline.

His parents; brothers, Hubert and William; and sisters, Gertrude Williams and Irma Blaise died before him.

Calling hours will be held at the convenience of the family. Funeral services will be Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2002, at 2 p.m. at the Lyon Mountain United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery in Keeseville.

Memorial donations may be made to the Lyon Mountain United Methodist Church or to the Lyon Mountain Volunteer Rescue Squad.

Arrangements are with the Lyon Mountain Funeral Home.

Hazel A. LaPorte

Schuyler Falls — Hazel A. LaPorte, 72, of Peasleeville Road, passed from us on Saturday, Nov. 23, 2002, at her home.

She was born in Keeseville on May 18, 1930, daughter of William and Flora (McLean) LaMere.

Hazel was predeceased by her three children, Albert, Danny and Beverly Christian and her husband, Robert LaPorte.

Hazel is survived her children, Patricia and Ed Haynes of Hudson Falls, David and Sue Christian of Keeseville, Anna and Kevin McKee of Peru, Bernard and Kelli Christian of Plattsburgh, Wanda Christian of Schuyler Falls, Roland and Margaret Christian of Schuyler Falls. Hazel was the grandmother of nineteen and the great grandmother of fourteen.

She will be missed by all of us.

Calling hours will be Tuesday evening, Nov. 26, 2002, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A graveside funeral service will be held Wednesday morning at 11 a.m. at Peasleeville Cemetery in Peasleeville with Rev. Kevin O'Brien, pastor of St. John's Church in Plattsburgh, officiating.

Rena M. O’Connor, 84, of Rouses Point, died Nov. 25, 2002, at the Cedar Hedge Nursing Home in Rouses Point.

Calling hours will be Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 at the Clark Funeral Home in Rouses Point. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Patrick's Church in Rouses Point.

Willard G. Lamica, 65, died Monday morning, Nov. 25, 2002, at his home on in Westville, under the care of his family and Hospice of the North Country.

He was born in Malone, on Nov. 22, 1937, the son of the late Albert and Pearl (Dupra) Lamica.

There are no calling hours. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, Dec. 2, 2002, at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Fatima Church in Westville, with the Rev. Francis Flynn, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in St. John Bosco Cemetery in Malone. Arrangements by the Bruso-Desnoyers Funeral Service of Malone.

Irene Strack, 91, formally of Parkside Drive, Lake Placid, died at the home of her grandson in Plattsburgh, Sunday, Nov. 24, 2002.

She was born in Churubusco, N.Y., June 4, 1911, the daughter of Patrick and Mary Louise (Fournia) Patnode.

Friends may call at the Clark Funeral Home in Lake Placid on Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2002, from 1 to 3 p.m. Funeral Services will follow at the funeral home at 3 p.m. Rev. Michael Gaffney will officiate. Burial will be in St. Agnes Cemetery.

Anna-Marie E. Disotelle, 86, of Valley Ridge Manor in Malone, died Monday, Nov. 25, 2002, at the Alice Hyde Medical Center in Malone, under the care of her family.

She was born in West Bangor, N.Y., on Sept. 14, 1916, the daughter of the late Mose and Matilda (Gonyea) Robideau.

There are no calling hours. A Mass of Christian burial will be held Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2002, at 11 a.m. in St. Helen's Church in Chasm Falls. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. A reception will follow in the parish hall. Arrangements are through the Bruso-Desnoyers Funeral Service of Malone.

Donald Adams, 79, of Springfield Rd., Wilmington, N.Y., died at his home Monday, Nov. 25, 2002.

He was born in Plattsburgh, Sept. 17, 1924, the son of Alton and Lillian (Emerson) Adams.

There are no calling hours. A memorial service for friends and family will be held at a later date. The Clark Funeral Home in Lake Placid is in charge of arrangements.

Adele H. Morris-Roth, 83, of Lake Forest Drive, died Sunday, Nov. 24, 2002, at her home.

She was born in Bronx, N.Y., on Jan. 25, 1919, daughter of the late Henry and Betty Morris.

Funeral arrangements are private and at the convenience of the family.

Arrangements are with the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh.
