Published: 11/24/02Walter Lawrence RyanLevittown, Pa. — Walter Lawrence Ryan, 73, of Levittown, Pa., died Monday, Nov. 19, 2002, at the St. Mary Hospital in Langhorne, Pa. Born and raised in AuSable, N.Y., he has resided in Levittown for 50 years. He was retired from the U.S. Steel Corp., Fairless Works. Mr. Ryan was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Church and was also a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was the son of the late William J. and Roma (Parent) Ryan; the brother of the late William J. Ryan Jr., the late Robert J. Ryan and the late Claire R. Donnelly. He is survived by his sister, Mary Lou Walker of East Chatham, N.Y.; and 17 nieces and nephews. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 30, 2002, at the St. Michael the Archangel Church, 66 Levittown Parkway, Levittown, Pa. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Joseph Knights of Columbus 4125, 1492 Woodbourne Rd., Levittown, PA 19057. Ferguson, 91, formerly of Port Henry, died Friday, Nov. 22, 2002, at the Wesley Nursing Home, Saratoga Springs, where she had been a resident for 11 years. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Harold and Susan Ferguson of Port Henry; five daughters, Doris St. Clair of Port Henry, Janice Brewer of Ocala, Fla., Rhea Beldon of Ticonderoga, N.Y., Mary Masse of Wilton, N.Y., and Linda Nadeau of Athens, Tenn.; 11 grandchildren; 11 great - grandchildren; four great - great - grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Harold Ferguson; her son, Larry and her daughter, Rhinda. Calling hours will be held Sunday, Nov. 24, 2002, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Harland Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday, Nov. 25, 2002, at St Patrick’s Church, Port Henry, with Rev. Michael Toth officiating. Burial will be in the Moriah Union Cemetery. Eileen G. LoftusPlattsburgh — Eileen G. Loftus, 74, of Long Apartments, died Thursday, Nov. 21, 2002, at the CVPH Medical Center. She was born in Cornwall, Ontario, on Nov. 28, 1927, the daughter of William and Flossie (Lashway) Riley. She married Alphonsus Loftus in 1956 at the Plattsburgh Air Force Base Chapel; he died in 1992. Mrs. Loftus was a former member of Holy Angels Church in Altona and was an avid bingo player. Survivors include two sons, Michael Loftus and his wife Kim and Brian Loftus, all of West Plattsburgh; three daughters, Patricia Loftus and her companion George Coger of Morrisonville, Kathleen Salley and her husband Brian of Strongstown, Pa., and Mary Kleber and her husband Arthur of Plattsburgh; one brother, Douglas Riley of Altona; one sister, Blanche Furnia and her husband Lester of Auburn, N.Y.; 12 grandchildren, Scott, Gregg, Mike, Robert, Jon and Stacy Loftus, Kayla Miner, Dylan Coger, Shane and Janelle Salley and Austin and Adam Kleber; two great- grandchildren, Kaylee Rae and Austin Rock; and several nieces and nephews. Two brothers, Gerald and Patrick Riley, died earlier. Calling hours will be held Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian burial will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Holy Angels Church in Altona followed by burial in the parish cemetery. Donations in her memory may be given to the Intensive Care Unit at the CVPH Medical Center. Coralee (Barney) HaleyPLATTSBURGH — Coralee (Barney) Haley, 61, of 29 Robinson Terrace, died Friday morning, Nov. 22, 2002, at the CVPH Medical Center, with her children at her side. She was born in Malone on Oct. 18, 1941, the daughter of Alfred J. and Edna (Gagnier) Gokey. Her first husband, Gene Barney, died in 1981. She then married Robert A. Haley in Plattsburgh in 1990. She was a communicant of St. Mary's Church in Champlain and was a frequent volunteer at St. Mary's School and church, formerly serving on the parish council. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America. She also co-founded the former Daisy Thrift Shop for the benefit of St. Mary's School. She was a former den mother for the cub scouts, an avid reader and bowler and enjoyed spending time with her family. Mrs. Haley was actively employed since 1974, most recently at World Warehouse and Distribution, Inc. in Champlain, retiring due to illness in 1999. Survivors include her husband Robert; one son, Craig Barney and his fiancé Lisa LaVenture and their daughter Courtney of Mooers; one daughter, Bobbi (Barney) Terry and her husband Bucky and their children, Matthew, Michael and Abigail of Redford; her mother, Edna Gokey of Malone; four stepsons, Steven Haley and his wife Stacy of Liverpool, N.Y., Paul Haley and his wife Maria of Morrisonville, Timothy Haley and his wife Dana of Bradenton, Fla., and Christopher Haley and his wife Jennifer of Unidilla, N.Y.; one stepdaughter, Eileen Sample and her husband Christian of Altona; two brothers, Mayor Richard Gokey of Malone and his wife Helen and Francis Gokey and his wife Dawn of Malone; nine stepgrandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers and sisters-in-law. Two brothers, Douglas and Roy Gokey and one sister, Rose Johnson, died earlier. Calling hours will be held Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. Helen Pawelczyk Moriah, N.Y. — Helen Pawelczyk, 83, of Whitney Street in Moriah, died Friday, Nov. 22, 2002, at Porter Hospital in Middlebury, Vt. She was born in Chelsea, Mass., on Dec. 27, 1918, the daughter of Alexander and Rosealia Gajewski. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Alphonse Pawelczyk; two sisters of Massachusetts; a brother of Moriah, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one brother. Calling hours will be Monday, Nov. 25, 2002, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Harland Funeral Home, Port Henry. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2002, at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick's Church, Port Henry, with Rev. Michael Toth officiating. Burial will follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery. Dorothy J. Dawdy, 74, of Plattsburgh, died Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2002, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh. She was born in Pennsylvania on Aug. 24, 1928. Funeral arrangements are private and at the convenience of the family. The Brown Funeral Home Inc. in Plattsburgh is in charge of the arrangements. |
