Coralee (Barney) Haley

PLATTSBURGH — Coralee (Barney) Hayley, 61, of 29 Robinson Terrace, died Friday morning, Nov. 22, 2002, at the CVPH Medical Center, with her children at her side.

She was born in Malone on Oct. 18, 1941, the daughter of Alfred J. and Edna (Gagnier) Gokey.

Her first husband, Gene Barney, died in 1981. She then married Robert A. Haley in Plattsburgh in 1990.

She was a communicant of St. Mary's Church in Champlain and was a frequent volunteer at St. Mary's School and church, formerly serving on the parish council. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America. She also co-founded the former Daisy Thrift Shop for the benefit of St. Mary's School. She was a former den mother for the cub scouts, an avid reader and bowler and enjoyed spending time with her family.

Mrs. Haley was actively employed since 1974, most recently at World Warehouse and Distribution, Inc. in Champlain, retiring due to illness in 1999.

Survivors include her husband Robert; one son, Craig Barney and his fiancé Lisa LaVenture and their daughter Courtney of Mooers; one daughter, Bobbi (Barney) Terry and her husband Bucky and their children, Matthew, Michael and Abigail of Redford; her mother, Edna Gokey of Malone; four stepsons, Steven Haley and his wife Stacy of Liverpool, N.Y., Paul Haley and his wife Maria of Morrisonville, Timothy Haley and his wife Dana of Bradenton, Fla., and Christopher Haley and his wife Jennifer of Unidilla, N.Y.; one stepdaughter, Eileen Sample and her husband Christian of Altona; two brothers, Mayor Richard Gokey of Malone and his wife Helen and Francis Gokey and his wife Dawn of Malone; nine stepgrandchildren; and several nieces.

Two brothers, Douglas and Roy Gokey and one sister, Rose Johnson, died earlier.

Calling hours will be held Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Church in Champlain, followed by burial in the parish cemetery.

Donations in her memory may be made to the Clinton, Essex, Franklin County Bookmobile System or charity of choice.

Georgiana Mary "Janie" Alphonso

Merrill — Georgiana Mary "Janie" Alphonso, 85, of Merrill, Burke and a resident of the Franklin County Nursing Home since Aug. 23, 1994, died Thursday afternoon, Nov. 21, 2002, at Franklin County Nursing Home, Malone, N.Y.

She was born in Chateaugay, N.Y., on March 7, 1917, the daughter of George and Eva (Jarvis) Peacock. She attended Chateaugay High School.

She married Antonio Alphonso at St. Patrick's Church, Chateaugay, on May 16, 1939. He predeceased her on Dec. 26, 1969.

She was employed as head cook at Camp Chateaugay for over 20 years. She was involved with RSVP for many years and enjoyed flower gardening, crafts and traveling. She was a communicant of St. Bernard's Church, Lyon Mountain and St. George's Church, Burke for many years.

Mrs. Alphonso is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Tony and Coleen Alphonso of North Bangor, N.Y., and David Alphonso of Portland, Maine; a granddaughter, Angela Alphonso of Plattsburgh; two grandsons, Anthony and his wife Melissa Alphonso of Malta, N.Y., and Brian Alphonso of Portland, Maine; two great - granddaughters, Meghan and Lillian Alphonso of Malta, N.Y.; two sisters, Lucille Demarse of Chateaugay, N.Y., and June Roberts of Brushton, N.Y.

Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by two brothers, Richard (Dick) and Donald Peacock; and a sister, Mary Rita Patnode.

Calling hours will be held at the Chateaugay Funeral Home on Friday, Nov. 22, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 23, 2002, in the funeral home chapel with Msgr. Bernard Christman officiating.

Burial will take place in the spring at St. Bernard's Cemetery, Lyon Mountain.

Donations in her memory maybe made to Alzheimer's Research.

Frank D. Lambert Sr.

Zephyrhills, Fla. — Frank David Lambert Sr., 75, of Zephyrhills, Fla., and formally of Ticonderoga, passed away Nov. 19, 2002, at his home in Zephyrhills after a long illness.

He was born on May 26, 1927, in Ticonderoga, N.Y., the son of the late Blaine and Jesse (Stone) Lambert.

Frank served in the armed guard of the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a member of the 3rd and 4th degree and past grand knight of the Knights of Columbus, past fire chief and a member of the Veteran of Foreign Wars as well as the American Legion.

Frank was an avid golfer and in past years liked to hunt and fish. Frank spent much of his retirement visiting his family across the United States.

He worked for International Paper for 40 years, retiring in 1985.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Cecilia; four daughters, Cindy Czaja of Denison, Texas, Sharon Plouffe and her husband Robert of Colchester, Vt., Margo Labatore and her husband Fran of Appleton, Wis., and Cheryl Narreau and her husband David of Plattsburgh, N.Y.; two sons, Frank D. Lambert Jr. and his companion Peg Reynolds of Little Chute, Wis., and James B. Lambert and his wife Tara of Ticonderoga; 14 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a brother, Tom Lambert of Houston, Texas; four sisters, Mary Simpson of Mineville, N.Y., Florence Cowan and Shirley Pellerin of Ticonderoga and Judy Justus of Hendersonville, N.C.

He was predeceased by one sister, Alice Holmes of Oceanside, Calif.; and a son-in-law, Michael Czaja of Denison, Texas.

Frank will be dearly missed by his family and his many friends of past years.

Arrangements are with the Whitfield Funeral Home in Zephyrhills. Burial will be at a later date in Valley View Cemetery in Ticonderoga.

Florence Emma (Balcom) Smith

Hague — Florence Emma (Balcom) Smith, 100, formerly of Overbrook Road, Hague, passed away Thursday, Nov. 21, 2002, at the Hallmark Nursing Center of Granville.

She was born on July 8, 1902, at the Balcom Farm in Hague, the daughter of the late LeRoy and Edna (Rising) Balcom.

Florence married Charles H. Smith on June 9, 1923, in North Creek, N.Y. He predeceased her on May 15, 1963.

Florence graduated from the 8th grade at the one room red schoolhouse in Hague. Her family then moved to North Creek where she completed high school and met her husband-to-be. The family opened a bakery in the early 1920's and later returned to Hague.

Florence was employed at the telephone company and the U.S. Postal Service in the central office in Hague. She was a highly skilled self-taught seamstress, creating original clothing, dolls and hooked rugs.

She was a member of the Board of Elections for 50 years, a member of the Board of Assessment Review, an organist at the Church of the Blessed Sacrament and a member of the Rosary Society.

The Hague Town Board commended and honored Florence as Senior Citizen of the Year of 1999.

She enjoyed flowers, feeding and watching the many birds, chipmunks and deer and most of all, she enjoyed visiting with her many friends.

Survivors include two nieces, Iola McCullough of Rutland, Vt., and Lenore Smith of West Palm Beach, Fla.; one nephew, LeRoy Balcom of Dunnellon, Fla., and several great-nieces, great - nephews and cousins.

Relatives and friends may call Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Wilcox & Regan Funeral Home, 11 Algonkin St., Ticonderoga. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday at 11 a.m. at the Church of the Blessed Sacrament of Hague. The Rev. George P. Fleming, pastor, will officiate.

The Rite of Committal will follow at the family plot of the Old Hague Cemetery.

Donations in her memory may be made to the Hague Volunteer Ambulance Fund or the Hague Volunteer Fire Department, Hague, NY 12836.

Eileen G. Loftus, 74, of Long Apartments in Plattsburgh, died Thursday, Nov. 21, 2002, at the CVPH Medical Center.

She was born in Cornwall, Ontario, on Nov. 28, 1927, the daughter of William and Flossie (Lashway) Riley.

Calling hours and funeral arrangements are incomplete at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home as of Friday evening.

Dolloff E. Palmer, 87, of Dopp Avenue, St. Regis Falls, N.Y., passed away at the Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake, N.Y., on Nov. 21, 2002, where he had been a patient since Sunday.

He was born in St. Regis Falls on Aug. 16, 1915, the son of the late Milton and Eudora (Young) Palmer.

Calling hours will be in the Anderson Funeral Home in St. Regis Falls on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be Monday, Nov. 25th, at 10 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Forrest Cemetery, St. Regis Falls.

Robert Dunne Moody, 70, of Canoga Park, Calif., died Oct 7, 2002, at home.

He was born Feb. 17, 1932, in Hartford, Conn., the son of the late James R. and Vivian E. (Stone) Moody.

Services were held at Canoga Park Veterans of Foreign Wars Hall on Nov. 15, 2002.
