Published: 11/20/02James W. ScarboroughPLATTSBURGH — James W. Scarborough, 68, of Truman Avenue, died Sunday, Nov. 17, 2002, at the CVPH Medical Center. He was born in Paris, Tenn., on Sept. 7, 1934, the son of Richard F. and Odell (Redmon) Scarborough. James married the former Sally MacDonald in Saranac on Jan. 21, 1961. He worked for Imperial Wallpaper for 31 years, retiring in 1997. Mr. Scarborough also did electrical work part time. He was a member of the Saranac United Methodist Church, the American Legion Post 1618 Saranac, and a longtime trustee at the Saranac Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Sally of Plattsburgh; four sons and three daughters-in-law, Joel and Lisa Scarborough of Redford, Russell and Donna Scarborough of Schuyler Falls, Kevin and Bonnie Scarborough of Vader, Wash., and Lynn Jon Scarborough of Saranac; one daughter, Kathleen Scarborough of Saranac; two sisters, Barbara Finch and her husband, Robert of Knoxville, Tenn., and Donna Nelsen and her companion, Robert of Valencia, Calif.; three grandchildren; and six step grandchildren. He was predeceased by his mother, Odell Enoch and one daughter, Deborah Scarborough. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2002, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the Saranac United Methodist Church. Burial will take place in the spring in Independence Cemetery in Saranac. Donations in his memory may be made to the Saranac Rescue Squad or to the Saranac United Methodist Church Memorial Fund. Penny A. DarrahMorrisonville — Mrs. Penny A. Darrah, 40, of Maple St., Morrisonville, passed away unexpectedly Monday, Nov. 18, 2002, at her home. She was born in Plattsburgh on July 16, 1962, the daughter of Paul and Marie (Wilson) Mitchell. Penny was a graduate of Plattsburgh High School, class of 1980. She enjoyed reading, shopping and cooking. Penny is survived by her husband, Scott R. Darrah of Morrisonville; two sons, Brendan McDonald of Plattsburgh and Evan McDonald of Plattsburgh; a stepdaughter, Jackie Darrah of New Jersey; her parents, Paul and Marie Mitchell of Plattsburgh; her twin sisters, Denise Furey and her husband John of Rochester, N.Y., Deanna O'Connell and her husband Michael of Plattsburgh; her paternal grandmother, Ruth Mitchell of Ticonderoga; her mother-in-law, Shirley Darrah of Plattsburgh; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins also survive her. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home, Plattsburgh. A funeral service will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at the Brown Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be at a later date in St. Alexander's Cemetery. Friends wishing may make donations to Juvenile Diabetes. Ada Jane O'Dell, 93, formerly of Montcalm Road, Ticonderoga, died Monday, Nov. 18, 2002, at the Moses-Ludington Nursing Home of Ticonderoga. She was born March 26, 1909, in Ticonderoga, N.Y. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Wilcox & Regan Funeral Home in Ticonderoga. A funeral service will follow at 4 p.m., Wednesday, at the funeral home. The Rev. Floyd Freed will officiate. Burial will take place at the Meadow Knoll Cemetery of Putnam Station at a later date. Rev. Stephen Walker Gillespie, 77, of the Highlands Road, Keeseville, pastor of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Keeseville, died Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2002, at his home. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by the Hamilton Funeral Home in Keeseville. Margaret H, Baker, 89, formerly of 20 Church St., Saranac Lake, died Friday, Nov. 15, 2002, at the Franklin County Nursing Home in Malone. He was born in Santa Clara, N.Y., on Aug. 27, 1913, the daughter of Frank and Vivian (Hall) Drasye. A memorial Mass will be held at 11:15 a.m. Friday at St. Bernard's Church in Saranac Lake. Burial will follow in Brookside Cemetery, Bloomingdale. Arrangements are by Fortune-Keough Funeral Home, Inc. |
