Published: 11/09/02Norman J. Miller Jr.Cadyville — Norman J. Miller Jr., 94, of 2129 Rt. 3, died early Friday morning, Nov. 8, 2002, at his home. He was born in Mooers Forks, the son of Norman J. and Ella (Menard) Miller Sr. Mr. Miller married the former Helen E. Rock at St. Alexander’s Church in Morrisonville in 1930. He was a member of St. Alexander's Church and a founding member of the Morrisonville Knights of Columbus, Council 6067. Mr. Miller was a self-employed contractor for 40 years until going to work for the New York State Thousand Island Park Commission as a local supervisor in 1966, retiring in 1975. From 1948 to 1951, he was the highway superintendent for the Town of Plattsburgh; from 1952 to 1959, he was the town supervisor for the Town of Plattsburgh and from 1974 to 1977 he was a Town of Plattsburgh town councilman. Survivors include his wife of 72 years, Helen; three sons, Leward Miller and his wife Gail and Larry Miller and his wife Joyce, all of Plattsburgh and Thomas Dashnaw and his wife Lucia of West Chazy; one brother, Ernest Miller and his wife Esther of Cadyville; one sister, Minnie Rabideau of Cadyville; one sister-in-law, Helen Miller of Cadyville; six grandchildren, Dr. Dean Miller and his wife Jennifer, Brian Miller, Scott Miller and his wife Beth, Carla Edwards and her husband Michael, Jennifer Donoghue and her husband Kevin and Elizabeth Dashnaw; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Three brothers, Henry, Kenneth and Leward Miller and one sister, Elsie Bolia, all died earlier. Calling hours will be held Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home. Knights of Columbus ritualistic services will be held at 3 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at St. Alexander's Church, followed by burial in the parish cemetery. Donations in his memory may be made to Hospice of the North Country. Floyd W. Johnson, 65, of Poplar Street in Constable, N.Y., died at the Alice Hyde Medical Center on Nov. 7, 2002. He was born in Rome, N.Y., on July 4, 1937, the son of Mary Johnson. There will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Thursday, Nov. 14, 2002, at 10 a.m. in St. Francis of Assisi Church with Rev. Francis Flynn officiating. Burial will take place in St. Francis of Assisi Cemetery, Constable, N.Y. Funeral arrangements are through St. Mary-Murphy Funeral Home, Inc. |
