Published: 11/08/02Maynard F. TromblyCHAZY — Maynard F. Trombly, 87, a lifelong resident, passed away on Wednesday evening, Nov. 6, 2002, at his home. He was born in Coopersville on Jan. 6, 1915, the son of Leon and Martha (Mousseau) Trombly. He married the former Rita C. Guay at Sacred Heart Church in Chazy on April 12, 1941, and they just celebrated their 61st anniversary. Mr. Trombly was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church. He was a member of the Chazy Lions Club for over 20 years, a dowser for many years and Chazy Town Supervisor for four years. Mr. Trombly loved to hunt and fish and cooked the chicken at "Old Home Days" for many years. He was a carpenter and contractor for 35 years in the Clinton County area, retiring in 1977. During his retirement years, Maynard was an avid gardener, woodworker, bird watcher and card player. Survivors include his wife Rita; five daughters, JoAnne Calkins and Linda Farrell, both of Plattsburgh, Gail Bechard and her husband Roy, Carol LaPierre and her husband Arnold, all of Chazy and Kathy Ford and her husband Deep of Santiago, Chile; three brothers, Russell Trombly and his wife Mary, Arnold Trombly and Richard Trombly, all of Chazy; one sister, Marie Robinson of Manchester, N.H.; 11 grandchildren; eight great - grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Five brothers, Harold, Leo, Clarence, Edward and Bill Trombly; and one sister, Eva Hackett, died earlier. Calling hours will be held Friday, Nov. 8th, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian burial will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church in Chazy, followed by burial in the parish cemetery and a reception in the Church Hall. Donations in his memory may be made to the Chazy Rescue Squad, Chazy Lions Club or Hospice of the North Country. Elizabeth "Lib" Gonyea McCaughinTiconderoga — Elizabeth "Lib" Gonyea McCaughin, 86, of Champlain Avenue, passed away Wednesday evening, Nov. 6, 2002, at the Moses-Ludington Hospital of Ticonderoga. She was born in Ticonderoga on Sept. 19, 1916, the daughter of the late Charles LeRoy and Bertha (Mingo) Gonyea. Mrs. McCaughin was a lifelong resident of Ticonderoga and was a graduate of Ticonderoga High School, Class of 1935. She especially loved her home, garden and neighbors. Mrs. McCaughin was employed by International Paper Co. of Ticonderoga for 40 years in the accounting office and was a member of the company's Quarter Century Club. Prior to International Paper, she was employed by Roseman Buick Garage of Ticonderoga for several years. Lib was a communicant of St. Mary's Catholic Church of Ticonderoga. She was predeceased by her husband, Vincent McCaughin, who passed away in 1989; two brothers, Leo Gonyea and LeRoy Gonyea; and by one sister, Margaret Gonyea. Survivors include one sister, Jane Kolysko and one brother, John Gonyea, both of Ticonderoga. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends may call Friday from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Wilcox & Regan Funeral Home, 11 Algonkin St., Ticonderoga. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday at 11:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church of Ticonderoga. The Rev. William G. Muench, pastor, will officiate. The Rite of Committal will follow at the family plot of St. Mary's Parish Cemetery of Ticonderoga. Irene Duquette, 70, died Nov. 6, 2002, at the Clinton County Nursing Home in Plattsburgh. There will be no public calling hours. A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 8, 2002, at the Clark Funeral Home in Champlain. Burial will follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery in Rouses Point. |
