Brian E. Sousis

Keeseville — Brian Edward Sousis, 37, of Pleasant Street, Keeseville, died Sunday, Nov. 3, 2002, at the Elizabethtown Community Hospital following a lengthy illness.

He was born in Plattsburgh, June 26, 1965, the son of Edward and Roberta (Nolette) Sousis.

Brian graduated from AuSable Valley Central School in 1983 and BOCES with a mechanics degree. He was a past fireman with the Keeseville Volunteer Fire Department.

He was an avid artist, loved motorcycles and enjoyed spending time with his buddy and nephew, Joshua, who was like a son to him.

Survivors include his mother, Roberta Sousis of Keeseville; a sister, Annette Sousis and her companion, Randy Smith both of Wilmington; his special nephew, Joshua Ploof; and a niece, Julie Carter.

He was predeceased by his father, Edward; uncles, Wilfred, Harold and Richard Sousis; maternal grandparents, Clarence and Gladys Nolette; and paternal grandparents, John and Rose Sousis of Keeseville.

Calling hours will be held Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Keeseville.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the funeral home chapel with Rev. Sally White, pastor, of the Keeseville and Harkness United Methodist Churches, officiating.

Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery in Keeseville.

Donations in his memory may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the American Cancer Society.

Robert I. Anderson

CROWN POINT — Dr. Robert I. (Andy) Anderson, recently of Saranac Village at Will Rogers, passed away Oct. 29, 2002, at the Adirondack Medical Center.

He was born in Crown Point, N.Y., Jan. 31, 1920, the son of Albert and Martha Anderson.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Jacqueline T. Anderson; four sons, Thomas L. Anderson of Baltimore, Md., Robert L. Anderson of Baltimore, Md., Jerry L. Anderson of Plano, Texas, Donald L. Anderson of Orlando, Fla.; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He graduated from Crown Point Central School in 1937 and from Cortland College, Cortland, N.Y., in 1943. In 1973 he received a Distinguished Alumnus Award from the Cortland College Alumni Association.

Dr. Anderson served in England during World War II and retired from the U.S. Army in 1965, as a Lieutenant Colonel, having served tours in the Philippines, Texas, Puerto Rico and Washington D.C.

Much of that time was with the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research where he was deputy chief of the department of medical zoology and chief of the department of serology. He was also the serology chief at the Army's Tropical Research Medical Laboratory in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and was the Amy representative on the Bacteriology and Mycology Study Section for the National institutes of Health Research Grant Division.

In 1961, he received a Ph.D. from Catholic University of America concentrating in the study of Parasitology. Dr. Anderson was a professor at Johns Hopkins University for ten years. In addition to teaching, he served as director of laboratories for the Geographic Epidemiology Unit that performs broadly based epidemiological studies in developing nations of the world, spending time in the field in Chad, Zaire and Afghanistan. He also was a consultant to the World Health Organization, doing fieldwork in the Cameroon.

in 1991 Dr. and Mrs. Anderson returned to Crown Point, where they lived for ten years and where Dr. Anderson was a member of the Burnell Ross Chapter of the American Legion.

As he wished, Dr. Anderson's ashes were interred in the family plot in Forest Dale Cemetery in Crown Point.

Funeral arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home, Inc. in Saranac Lake, N.Y.

Sylvia (Waxman) Savath

FLORIDA — Sylvia (Waxman) Savath, 83, of Windsor and Lauderdale Lakes, Fla., died Monday, Nov. 1, 2002, at St. Francis Hospital.

She was born in Hartford, daughter of the late Samuel and Ida (Cohen) Waxman, she moved to Windsor in 1955.

Sylvia graduated from UCONN and did graduate work at Columbia School of Occupational Therapy College of Physicians and Surgeons and had been supervisor of Occupational Therapy for the Connecticut State Veterans Hospital before retiring in 1953. After retirement, she devoted time as a teacher's aid in the Windsor schools and did volunteer work for a number of charitable organizations.

An active member of Congregation Beth Ahm, she served as its president and was one of the first women to be elected president of a conservative synagogue in Connecticut. She received the Distinguished Service Award from Congregation Beth Ahm in 1989 and currently served on the Board.

She leaves her beloved husband Seymour Savath; two daughters, Sheera Broderick of Westport, N.Y., and Neva Goldstein of Cortlandt Manor, N.Y.; a sister, Faye Sklar of Bloomfield; and four grandchildren.

The funeral will be today, Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2002, 1:30 p.m. in the Chapel of the Carmon Windsor Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Avenue., Windsor, Conn. Rabbi Alan Lefkowitz will officiate.

Burial will follow in Beth Ahm section of Tikvoh Chadoshoh Cemetery, Windsor.

Shiva will be observed this evening through Thursday evening at 7 p.m. at the Sklar home, 4 Briar Lane, Bloomfield.

H. Jennie Cross

PLATTSBURGH — H. Jennie Cross, 78, of Riley Avenue, died on Sunday, Nov. 3, 2002, at CVPH Medical Center.

She was born in Cadyville on Aug. 25, 1924, the daughter of George and Elizabeth (Rabideau) Christon.

Her husband, Arnold Cross died on Nov. 24, 1959.

Jennie had worked at the CVPH Medical Center since 1940 and was a baker by trade. She retired in 1987.

Mrs. Cross was a member of St. Peter's Church.

Survivors include one daughter, Mary Chamberlain and her husband Gerhard Chamberlain of Plattsburgh; two brothers, John and Marion Christon of Cadyville and William Christon of Cadyville; three sisters, Leona and William Pardy of Morrisonville, Mary and Joseph LaCroix of Morrisonville and Veronica and John Millhouse of Spokane, WA; grandchildren, Kevin and Naomi Chamberlain and Brandon Chamberlain of Plattsburgh and Yvette Cross of Santa Clara, Calif., and a great-grandson, Gabriel Chamberlain of Plattsburgh.

A son, Daniel Cross and a brother, James Christon died earlier.

Funeral services are private at the convenience of the family.

Entombment will be in Whispering Maples Mausoleum.

R.W. Walker Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Winifred J. PARRY, 74, of Maple St., died Monday, Nov. 4, 2002, at her home.

Mrs. Parry was born in Plattsburgh on July 7, 1928, the daughter of Leslie and Nellie (Barber) Bulley.

Calling hours and funeral arrangements are incomplete, as of Monday evening, at the R. W. Walker Funeral Home.

Enid S. Brown, 79, of Lake Placid, N.Y., formerly of New York City and Morristown, N.J., died Sunday, Nov. 4, 2002, at the Adirondack Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2002, at St. Eustace Episcopal Church in Lake Placid at 10:30 a.m. Rev. Judson Pealer will officiate. Burial will be in North Elba Cemetery.

The Clark funeral home in Lake Placid is in charge of the arrangements.

Lorraine L. Grande, formerly of Plattsburgh, died, Nov. 2, 2002.

Calling hours will be at the Leo M. Bean Funeral Home, Inc., 2771 Chill Avenue, Tuesday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9p.m. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
