Margaret M. LaValley

BEEKMANTOWN — Margaret M. LaValley, 88, of 871 Durand Road, died peacefully at her home early Sunday morning, Oct. 20, 2002, listening to country music with her loving children and grandchildren at her side.

She was born in Mooers Forks on Nov. 4, 1913, the daughter of Benjamin and Philanda (Peet) Nephew.

Mrs. LaValley was a member of St. Joseph’s Church in West Chazy.

She married the late Zepher J. LaValley at St. Ann’s Church in Mooers Forks in 1934.

Survivors include three sons, Leonard LaValley and his wife, Lucy, of Plattsburgh, Lawrence LaValley and his wife, Joan, of Peru, and Gerald LaValley and his fiancée, Dennise, of Beekmantown; one daughter and two sons-in-law, Marion Dragoon and her husband, Robert, of Beekmantown, and Roy Stone of Schuyler Falls, N.Y.; three sisters, Nellie Burdo of Plattsburgh, Theresa Larochelle and her husband, Robert, and Irene McComb and her husband, Harold, all of Mooers Forks; 18 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Two daughters, Dorothy LaValley and Theresa Stone; four brothers, Benjamin, Alex, Robert and Arthur Nephew; and four sisters, Rose Garrand, Marie LaValley, Rita Miller and Bertha Trombley, all died earlier.

Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph’s Church in West Chazy, followed by burial in the parish cemetery.

Donations may be made to Hospice of the North Country in her memory.

Grace F. Dupuis

FORT COVINGTON — Grace F. Dupuis age 76, of Fort Covington and a resident of the St. Regis Nursing Home in Massena, passed away Saturday, Oct. 19, 2002, at the Nursing Facility where she had been a resident since Aug. 20, 2001.

She was born Oct. 18, 1926, in Burke, N.Y., the daughter of the late George and Natalie (Langlois) Lapage.

She attended Country School in the Ft. Covington area.

For 20 years she owned and operated Grace's Grocery and later after selling her store she opened Grace's Antiques both in Ft. Covington. She retired in 1976. She attended St. Mary's Church in Ft. Covington. She was an avid antique collector and enjoyed collecting teapots and angels.

On July 6, 1945 at St. Mary's Church in Ft. Covington, she was united in marriage to Germain D. Dupuis. He predeceased her in 1995.

Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Terry J. and Robin Dupuis of Malone; one daughter, Diane S. Disotell of Bombay; five grandchildren, Stephen MacDonald of Bombay, Mari-Kay Disotell of Bombay, Meagan Dupuis, Andrew Dupuis and Danielle Dupuis, all of Malone; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by five brothers, Paul, Arthur, William, Herman and Walter Lapage and one sister, Katherine Robinson.

Friends may call at the Flint Funeral Home, Moira, Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2002, from 7 to 9 p.m.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the Flint Funeral Home, Moira, with the Rev. Alfred H. Fish officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Ft. Covington.

Memorial donations may be made to the Bombay Fire and Rescue. Arrangements are through the Flint Funeral Home, Moira.

Kenneth "Skip" Bombard

Clintonville — Kenneth "Skip" Bombard, 63, of 55 Lower Road, Clintonville, died Saturday, Oct. 19, 2002, at his home.

He was born in Troy, April 30, 1939, the son of Walter & Lola (Coonrodt) Bombard.

He was a lift operator at the Whiteface Mountain Ski Resort, Wilmington for 17 years. Skip was employed as a logger for different companies for several years.

He is survived by his mother, Lola Bombard, of Bloomingdale; three daughters, Patricia Bombard of Clintonville, Barbara and Ricky Joy, of AuSable Forks and Tammy and John Joy, of Peru; four sons, Kenneth W. Bombard Jr., of Clintonville, Richard J. Bombard, of AuSable Forks, Marvin 0. Bombard, of Clintonville, and Robert and Rebecca Bombard, of Peru; eight grandchildren, Kenneth W. III, Courtney, Ryan, Justin, Shannon and Shauna Bombard, and Kyle and Cory Joy; three sisters, Gail Nelson, Joan Drake and Pamela Bombard; five brothers, Richard, Bruce, Melvin, Larry and James; two step brothers, Scott and Francis Kilbourne; and several nieces and nephews.

His wife, Cheryl Camire Bombard, died Sept. 15, 2001, also his father, Walter Edward Bombard; a sister, Barbara; and two brothers, Walter and Stephen Bombard, predeceased him.

Graveside services will be held, Saturday, Oct. 26, 2002, at 2 p.m. at the family plot in Fairview Cemetery, AuSable Forks.

Zaumetzer - Sprague Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Margaret J. Gaspar

NAPLES, FL. — Margaret J Gaspar, 66, died of renal failure on Oct. 11, 2002, in Ft. Myers, Fla.

Maggie, as her friends knew her, was born on June 5, 1936, to Vera LaBelle, in Malone, N.Y.

Survivors include her daughter Laurey (Delam) Christmas, son-in-law Frederick, and two grandchildren, Stephanie and Matthew Christmas, all of Longmont, Colo.; her brother, Thomas Stuart Sr. and his wife Linda, their children and grandchildren of Plattsburgh, N.Y.; two aunts; and many cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. William A. Gaspar of Malone, N.Y.

Maggie was a kind, generous and loving person, and will be dearly missed by her family and many friends whose lives she touched.

A memorial service to be held in June 2003, time and place to be announced.

Shirley A. Whitney

Chestertown — Shirley A. Whitney, 71, died unexpectedly Sunday, Oct. 20, 2002, at Albany Medical Center Hospital.

She was born Feb. 23, 1931, in Saranac Lake, the daughter of the late Alice Sweeny.

Mrs. Whitney was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Chestertown. Her hobbies included traveling, spending winters in Florida and fishing. She will be remembered as a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother.

Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Joseph F. Whitney, whom she married July 22, 1950; one son, Scott Whiney and his wife Karen, of Peru, N.Y.; one daughter, Pamela Greco and her husband Rich, of Chestertown; and four grandchildren, Paul Nestor and his wife, Caron, of Phoenix, Ariz., Courtney Greco of Chestertown, and Noelle and Benjamin Whitney of Peru.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2002, at St. John The Baptist Catholic Church in Chestertown with Rev. George Fleming pastor officiating.

Interment will be in the Norton Cemetery, Keene, N.Y.

Relatives and friends may call 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 22, at Barton-McDermott Funeral Home, Inc., 9 Pine St., Chestertown.

Memorials may be made to: North Warren Emergency Squad, P.O. Box 323, Chestertown, N.Y. 12817. Pallbearers Wade Whitney, Mike Whitney, Tim Whitney, Michael Miner, Jeff Shackett and Wendell Wells.

Helen Irma Fountain, 81, of Route 22, died Monday Oct. 21, 2002, at the CVPH Medical Center.

She was born in West Chazy, N.Y. on Jan. 30, 1921, the daughter of Joseph and Dora (Stacey) Jennette.

Calling hours and funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by the Brown Funeral Home, Plattsburgh.

Robert Edward Rock, 55, of the Seymour Road, died Monday Oct. 21, 2002 at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

He was born in Plattsburgh on Aug. 17, 1947, son of Robert Edward and Genevieve S. (Corrow) Rock.

Calling hours will be Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2002 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Thursday, Oct. 24, 2002 at 10 a.m. from St. Peter's Church in Plattsburgh.

Burial will follow in the St. Joseph's Cemetery in West Chazy.

Paul T. Duhaime, 53, of Plattsburgh , died Monday, Oct. 21, 2002, at the CVPH Medical Center.

He was born in Dayton, Ohio, on March 14, 1949, the son of Henry A. and Theresa L. (Roy) Duhaime.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete.

The R.W. Walker Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Gregory L. Walker Sr., age 57, of 44 Broadway, Saranac Lake, died Sunday, Oct. 20, 2002 at his residence.

He was born in Saranac Lake, N.Y. on July 18, 1945.

Calling hours will be at Fortune-Keough Funeral Home, Inc. on Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2002 from 1 to 3 p.m.

A funeral service will immediately follow on Tuesday afternoon at 3 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Thomas Kornmeyer officiating.

Burial will be in St. Bernard Cemetery in Saranac Lake.
