Published: 10/17/02Isadore Joseph BarieSebring, Fla. — Memorial services for Isadore Joseph Barie, 74, of Sebring, Fla., who passed away Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2002, will be held Saturday, Oct. 19, 2002, at 10 a.m. in the chapel of St. Catherine Catholic Church, Father Jose Ruiz officiating. Mr. Barie was born in Redford, N.Y., and was employed for 25 years as a steamfitter for the U.S. government in Plattsburgh, N.Y. He had been a resident of Sebring since 1990, moving from Champlain, N.Y., and was a member of St. Catherine Catholic Church. He is survived by his wife Hazel, whom he married in 1950; daughter Jean Wheeler of Hartford, N.Y.; eight sons, Richard Barie of Coppell, Texas, Ronald Barie of Cary, N.C., Mark Barie of Rouses Point, N.Y., Dennis Barie of North Attleboro, Mass., Randy Barie of Mooers, N.Y., Steven Barie of North Attleboro, Mass., Brian Barie of Woodstock, Ga., and Stacey Barie of Milford, Mass.; two sisters, Alice Maggy of Morrisonville, N.Y., and Anita Brown of Hampton, Va.; and 19 grandchildren. Services will be held at a later date in Champlain, N.Y. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Good Shepherd Hospice of Highlands County, P.0. Box 1884, Sebring, FL 33871. Cremation arrangements entrusted to Stephenson-Nelson Funeral Home, Sebring, Fla. Mary Veronica Kuziuk RyanTucson, Az. — Mary Veronica Kuziuk Ryan died Saturday, Sept. 14, 2002, in Tucson, Az. She was born in Witherbee on Aug. 27, 1916, the daughter of Michal and Mary (Harelik) Kuziuk. Mary was a volenteer and a member of the Polish Club. Survivors include one son and his wife, Michael and Marilyn Ryan of Mosman, Australia; two grandchildren, Robert and Nicole; three brothers, Charles Cooke of Port Henry, John Kukie of Ogdensburg and Michael Kukie of Largo, Fla.; two sisters, Veronica Alford of Oceanside, Calif., and Josephine Kukie of Los Angeles, Calif.; one sister-in-law, Sandra Kukie of Largo, Fla.; and several nephews and nieces. Burial will be at St. Peter’s and Paul Cemetery in Moriah Center. Emerson George GrimshawChamplain — Emerson George Grimshaw, 60, of Champlain, passed away Sunday, Oct. 13, 2002, in Champlain. He was born on March 29, 1942, in Plattsburgh, the son of Joseph and Lillian (Coates) Grimshaw. He owned and operated E. Grimshaw Transport and Construction in Champlain. Emerson is survived by a sister, Ruth Strack and her husband Phil of Englewood, Ohio; four brothers and their wives, Charles and Arlene Grimshaw of Ellijay, Ga., Kenneth and Marjorie Grimshaw of Ellijay, Ga., Joseph and Romona Grimshaw of Champlain and Paul and Bernice Grimshaw of Coopersville; and several nieces and nephews, Calling hours will be Thursday, Oct. 17, 2002, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Clark Funeral Home in Champlain. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Church in Champlain. Francis Timothy SlatteryLatham, N.Y. — Francis Timothy Slattery, 81, of Troy - Schenectady Road, beloved husband of the late Madelyn (Farrell) Slattery, died Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2002, at the Colonie Manor in Latham. He was born in Standish, N.Y., on Oct. 4,1921, the son of the late William Patrick and Eva (Alexander) Slattery. He was a graduate of Lyon Mountain High School, Class of 1940. Mr. Slattery attended St. Michael's College in Winooski, Vt., leaving to enlist in the U.S. Army Air Corp. He trained in communications at Seymour Johnson Field in North Carolina and at Yale University in New Haven, Conn. He was assigned to Barksdale Field in Shevesport, La., and at San Antonio Air Force Redistribution Center, from where he was discharged in 1946. He was employed as a chemist assistant at Republic Steel Blast Furnace in Troy, N.Y., until 1955. He then worked for the General Electric Company silicone division in Waterford as a polymer specialist and later as a environmental specialist, from which he retired in 1984. Mr. Slattery was a Latham resident since 1957 and was a member of the Colonie Elks Lodge 2192 and an honorary life member of the Latham-Colonie Knights of Columbus Council 3394, a member of the G.E. Quarter Century Club and the G.E. Silicone Retiree's Association. Mr. Slattery and his late wife were volunteers at Our Lady of Hope Residence in Latham. Survivors include his loving children, Frankie Patrick Slattery of Loveland, Ohio, Timothy G. Slattery of Watervliet, William S. Slattery of Rye, N.Y., and Seaneen G. Gilleece of Clifton Park; and his sister, Eva Martin of Plattsburgh. He is also survived by 10 cherished grandchildren; three great-granchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Friday, Oct. 18, 2002, at 9:15 a.m. from the Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, 149 Old Loudon Road, Latham and at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 498 Watervliet-Shaker Road in Latham, where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated by Pastor Geoffrey Burke. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. Interment with military honors will be in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery in Niskayuna. GruslinMooers — Paul D. Gruslin, 76, of Mooers, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2002, at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany. He was born in Central Falls on April 9, 1926, son of Paul 0. and Yvonne (Dulude) Gruslin. Paul had been employed in construction in Boston, Mass. He was currently employed at Chazy Hardware. Paul was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps, a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 6136 in Mooers, American Legion Post 767 in Champlain and a member of St. Joseph's Church in Mooers, where he sang in the choir. He enjoyed gardening, his computer and cribbage. Paul is survived by his wife of 55 years, Irene B. (Dubuc) Gruslin of Mooers; three children, Dennis and Denise Gruslin of Pawtucket, R.I., Shirley A. Heroux and fiancé, Randy Patnode of Alburg, Vt., and Gary S. and Paula Gruslin of Pawtucket, R.I.; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Gilbert and Shirley Gruslin of Holiday, Fla., and Roger Gruslin of Holiday, Fla.; seven grandchildren, Justine, Jennifer, Shaylyn, Derek, Aaron, Jessica and Allyse; three great-grandchildren, Jacob, Trevor and Madison; and several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be Thursday, Oct. 17, 2002, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A prayer service will be held Thursday afternoon at 3 p.m. Members of the Knights of Columbus are asked to meet Thursday evening at 7:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday morning at 10 a.m. from St. Joseph's Church in Mooers. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Donations in his memory may be made to Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Doris M. Fitzpatrick, 81, of Main Street in Peru, died Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2002, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh. She was born in Dannemora on May 7, 1921. Calling hours will be held Thursday from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Peru. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday at 11 a.m. at St. Augustine's Church in Peru, with Rev. William Reamer, chaplain of the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh, celebrating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Ciona B. Malraison, 94, of Morrison Avenue, died Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2002, at the Meadowbrook Health Care Facility. She was born in Laurel, Mont., on Jan. 2, 1908, the daughter of Napoleon and Emma (Trombly) Bourdeau. There will be no calling hours. Burial will be Friday, Oct. 18, 2002, at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne, N.Y., at 1 p.m. A Memorial Mass will be held Saturday, Oct. 19, 2002, at the Chapel at St. Peter's Church at 10 a.m. with Msgr.
