Margaret E. Dupree

Churubusco — Margaret E. Dupree, 102, of the Campbell Road, Churubusco, died Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2002, at Alice Hyde Medical Center, Malone, N.Y.

She was born in Churubusco, N.Y., on May 9, 1900, the daughter of Pherence and Xenia (Rufienge) Silver.

She was married to Thomas Dupree on Dec. 29, 1924, in St. Edmund's Church, Ellenburg. He predeceased her on Feb. 20, 1960.

Mrs. Dupree is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Norma and Lawrence Nichols of Churubusco, N.Y.; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Robert Dupree of Chateaugay, N.Y., and Maynard and Hope Dupree of Pinallis Park, Fla.; 11 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.

Besides her husband, she was predeceased by her parents; a son, Richard Dupree in September 1955; a brother, Lloyd Silver; two sisters, Loretta Fregoe and Agnes Starner; two grandchildren; and a daughter-in-law, Edna Dupree, on Oct. 29, 2000.

Mrs. Dupree was a communicant of St. Patrick's Church and a member of the Altar and Rosary Society.

Calling hours will be held at Chateaugay Funeral Home on Thursday, Oct. 17 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 18 in St. Patrick's Church with Rev. Ray Moreau officiating. Burial will take place at St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Chateaugay.

Donations in her memory may be made to Churubusco Rescue Squad.

Harold A. Lashway Sr.

PlattsburghHarold A. Lashway Sr., 71, died Monday, Oct. 14, 2002, at the CVPH Medical Center.

He was born in Ellenburg on April 4, 1931, the son of Floyd and Clara (Dominic) Lashway.

Survivors include two sons, Harold A. Lashway Jr. of Berlin, N.Y., and Donald J. Lashway of Troy, N.Y.; four daughters, Star Ann Lashway of Averill Park, N.Y., Nancy Fearnley and her husband Richard of Berlin, N.Y., Rita Hart and her husband David of Ft. Plain, N.Y., and Doris Jourdanais and her husband Richard of Cohoes, N.Y.; his companion of many years, Betty Finnegan of Plattsburgh; 24 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Dale J. Lashway and his wife Beverly of Willsboro, N.Y., and Lee F. Lashway of Riverdale, Md.; ten sisters, Rita Hart and her husband Frank of Mason, Ohio, Doris Viens of Casco, Maine, Monica Laverdure of Berlin, Mass., Donna Cooney and her husband Jack of Mason, Ohio, Shirley Arcet of Plattsburgh, Carol Kohs of San Bernadino, Calif., Ada Gromada and her husband Edward of Ocala, Fla., Patricia Pheasant and her husband Paul of Berwyn Heights, Md., Faye Lashway of Plattsburgh and Sandra Fennyery of Troy, N.Y.

He was predeceased by his wife, Margaret M. Lashway, in 1981.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh from 2 to 3 p.m., with the funeral to follow at 3 p.m., with Msgr Joseph Aubin officiating. Burial will be at a later date.

Earl F. Warren

ALTONAMr. Earl F. Warren, 66, of the Miner Farm Road, passed away suddenly Monday, Oct. 14, 2002, at the CVPH Medical Center.

He was born in Beekmantown on June 9, 1936, the son of Frank and Leah M. (Brean) Warren. Earl worked for Morrisonville Construction Company, retiring in 1998. He was an avid fisherman, enjoyed gardening, collecting records, going to garage sales and he loved and enjoyed his family. He had been a member of the Altona Volunteer Fire Department.

Earl was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Leah Warren; two brothers, Carl and Herman Warren; two sisters, Mary and Emma.

Earl is survived by his wife of 45 years, Helen (Sorrell) Warren of Altona; his children, Peggy DiOrio and her husband Todd of Chazy, Joseph Warren of Malone, Bruce Warren and his wife Catherine of Altona, Anthony Warren and his companion Elizabeth Darrah of Champlain, Kirk Warren and his companion Cheryl of Altona; a brother, Franklin Warren of Beekmantown; a sister, Viola Lucia of Altona; six grandchildren, Michael, Cody, Alysha, Kayla, Kirk Jr. and Brianna, and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home, Altona.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Thursday, Oct. 17, 2002, at noon at Holy Angels Church, Altona.

A reception will follow at Holy Angels Church Hall.

Friends wishing may have Masses said in his memory.

George J. Hoy

MORRISONVILLEGeorge J. Hoy, 70, of 134 Broadwell Rd., died Monday evening, Oct. 14, 2002, at his home.

He was born in Ellenburg Depot on Feb. 1, 1932, the son of George M. and Belle (McKinney) Hoy. He married Mary L. Meltzer at the United Methodist Church in Plattsburgh in 1951.

Mr. Hoy was a member of the Dannemora United Methodist Church, the Dannemora Volunteer Fire Dept., American Legion Post 20, the Golf View Club, the Siberian Rod and Gun Club, the Commander's Club of the Disabled American Veterans, NYS Sheriff's Association, Port Kent Golf Club, AARP and the Plattsburgh Lyon's Club.

He was a Korean War Air Force veteran. Following the war, Mr. Hoy worked at Diamond National Paper Co. for four years and retired as captain from the NYS Dept. of Corrections after 37 years of service, working both at Clinton Correctional Facility and Altona Correctional Facility.

Survivors include his wife Mary; one son, Michael Hoy and his wife Jodie of Averill Park, N.Y.; eight daughters, Mrs. Kenneth (Mary) Delisle and Karen Hoy, both of Dannemora, Mrs. Sherry Donahue, Mrs. Thomas (Emily) Wheeler and Mrs. Daniel (Linda) Goslin, all of Morrisonville, Mrs. Gerald (Brenda) O'Donnell of Ravena, N.Y., Mrs. James (Jody) Marking of Youngstown, Fla., and Mrs. Glenn (Lisa) Thompson of Plattsburgh; one brother, Morris Hoy and his wife Dolores of Plattsburgh; two sisters, Mrs. Ross (Greta) Webb and Mrs. Ethel Lester, both of Plattsburgh; 17 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

His infant son; his brother, Glen Hoy; and his sister, Shirley Buchanan died earlier.

Calling hours will be held Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the R. W. Walker Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at the Dannemora United Methodist Church. Following the service, there will be a gathering at the American Legion, Post 20, on the Quarry Road in Plattsburgh.

Entombment will be at Whispering Maples Mausoleum at a later date.

Donations in his memory may be made to Hospice of the North Country or the FitzPatrick Cancer Center.

Mary Jane Veneto

Winooski, Vt.Mary Jane Veneto, 80, of Port Henry and Winooski, died Monday, Oct. 14, 2002, with her daughters Jill and Jacki by her side at Starr Farm Nursing Center in Burlington, Vt., after a short illness.

Mary Jane was born in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., on Sept. 19, 1922, the daughter of the late Frank and Madeline (Thatcher) Horton.

She was a graduate of Crown Point High School.

Mary Jane was predeceased by her husband of 47 years, Philip Veneto.

She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas and the Moriah Senior Citizens.

She enjoyed traveling, shopping, crocheting and spending time with the ladies at the "Rooms".

Mary Jane is survived by her two daughters, Jill Soter and husband James of Winooski and Jacki Veneto and husband Herb Bluhm of Essex Jct., Vt.; her grandchildren, Jason Soter and girlfriend Amber Colopy, Jamie Soter and boyfriend Josh Ward, Michael Soter and fiancee Jessica Chen, Debby Tate and husband David and Cristy Monty and husband David; her great-grandchildren, Andy, Nicole, Robbie, Ben and Kathryn; sisters-in-law, Pauline Mazzotte, Sonta Baker, Rose Dupuis and Pat McKernon; brother-in-law, Joseph Veneto and wife Wilma and nieces and nephews.

Mary Jane’s family would like to express their sincere thanks to the staff at Starr Farm Nursing Center and to Dr. James O’Brien for the special care and kindness shown to her.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday, Oct. 18, 2002, at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Port Henry. Interment will follow in South Moriah Cemetery in Moriah, N.Y. In keeping with Mary Jane’s wishes, there will be no visiting hours.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lorraine Easter, Nutrition Site Manager, 37 Park Place, Port Henry, NY 12974.

Arrangements are by the LaVigne Funeral Home, 132 Main St., Winooski, Vt.

PERCY Y. PALMER, 80, of Finney Blvd., Malone, passed away Oct. 14, 2002, at the Alice Hyde Medical Center in Malone, where he had been a patient since Sept. 12th.

He was born in St. Regis Falls, N.Y., on March 27, 1922, the son of the late Milton and Eudora (Young) Palmer.

Calling hours will be in the Bruso-Desnoyers Funeral Home in Malone, on Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2002, from 11 a.m. until the time of funeral service at noon in the funeral home chapel. The Rev. Tom Davis, pastor of the Centenary Methodist Church in Malone will officiate. Burial will follow in Morningside Cemetery, Malone.

THERESA M. BURGESS, 83, of the Whitehall Nursing Home, Whitehall, Alaska, and formerly of Malone, N.Y., died Sunday, Oct. 13, 2002, at that facility.

She was born Oct. 7, 1919, in Constable, daughter of Peter and Rose (Duquette) Fleury.

There will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday, Oct. 19, 2002, at 10 a.m. in Notre Dame Church. Burial will be in St. Francis of Assisi Cemetery, Constable, N.Y. Funeral arrangements are through St. Mary-Murphy Funeral Home, Inc., Malone, N.Y.
