Published:10/13/02Mary Ann GreenPeru — Mary Ann Green, 59, died on Oct. 12, 2002. She was born on May 19, 1943, in Ford City, Pa., the daughter of the late Leo J. and Mary Green. For the past 18 years, Mary Ann (who was Downs Syndrome and suffered from Alzheimer’s) was lovingly cared for by her sister Dolores and brother-in-law Ron Black of Peru. Mary Ann spent some years working for UCO Industries in Marysville, Ohio, and in recent years attended the 3rd Age Alzheimer’s Day Care Center in Plattsburgh. Mary Ann is also survived by another sister, Patricia Shiflett and her husband George of Fort Worth, Texas; and two brothers, Leo R. Green and wife Mary Jane of San Antonio, Texas, and Robert Green and his wife Janice of Poth, Texas. She is also survived by 17 nieces and nephews. Two nephews, Leo Blaine Green and James Shiflett, preceded her death. There will be no calling hours or services in this area. The Hamilton Funeral Home in Peru is in charge of local arrangements. Grace A. DamePLATTSBURGH — Grace A. Dame, 85, of Cumberland Head in Plattsburgh, died Friday, Oct. 11, 2002, at the CVPH Medical Center after a lengthy illness surrounded by her family. She was born in Essex, N.Y., on Dec. 8, 1916, the daughter of Lesley William and Minnie (Gladd) Tyrrell. She was married on May 1, 1932, in St. Albans, Vt., to Walter J. Dame, who preceded her in death on Dec. 11, 1992. Her sister, Ruth Lapham, preceded her in death on Jan. 7, 1960. Mrs. Dame is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Gordon Quincey of Plattsburgh; her son and daughter-in-law, Ronald and Ellen Dame of Morrisonville; three grandchildren, Rebecca M. Dame of Morrisonville, Mary Lynne Quincey of Houston, Texas, and Brian MJ Dame of Baltimore, Md.; four great-grandchildren, Amy, Eric, Kyle and Seth of Houston, Texas; and one niece and four nephews. Mrs. Dame was a loving wife, mother and exceptional grandmother. She and her husband operated the Red Brick Lodge at 17 Peru Street from the 1940's - 1970's. Since retiring, the couple enjoyed a summer residence on Cumberland Head and a winter home in Pompano Beach, Fla., and founded a scholarship program with the Elks Lodge in Plattsburgh. Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Sunday at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Mary's of the Lake Church on Cumberland Head on Monday, Oct. 14, at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to the CVPH Foundation, R5, to assist medical practitioners, students and families of those afflicted by Parkinson’s Disease. Orville "George" HaylettPOINT AU ROCHE — Orville "George" Haylett, 82, of Point au Roche Road and Paisley, Fla., died Friday, Oct. 11, 2002, at the St. Peter's Hospital in Albany, N.Y. He was born on Jan. 27, 1920, in the family homestead at Point au Roche, the son of Orville H. and Clara E. (Lombard) Haylett. George graduated from Plattsburgh High School, Class of 1939. On June 4, 1943, he married Helen Cross in Plattsburgh, N.Y. He was the owner and operator of Haylett Marina for 31 years and retired in 1981 when he sold the marina. George was a member of the United Methodist Church in Plattsburgh and formerly a member of Elks Lodge 621, the Champlain Power Squadron and a Johnson Motors Inner Circle Dealer. Survivors include his wife, Helen; a daughter and son-in-law, Pamela and George Chesar of Red Lion, Pa.; a sister, Mary Elizabeth Fessette of Plattsburgh; three grandchildren, Clarke C. LaPlante of Bristol Conn., Airman John Chesar and his wife Kristan of York, Pa., and Amber Chesar of Broad Brook, Conn; one great - granddaughter, Tabihta Jade Chesar; and several nieces, nephews and loved friends and relatives. Calling hours at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home will be on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be on Tuesday, Oct. 15, at the United Methodist Church at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in the Point au Roche Cemetery. Donations in his memory may be made to the Heart Fund. Edith F. Ducatte, 93, of Troy, N.Y., died Friday, Oct. 11, 2002, at the Heritage Nursing Home in Troy, N.Y. She was born in Plattsburgh, N.Y., on Oct. 23, 1908, the daughter of George and Ida (Newell) Mousseau. Calling hours will be Monday, Oct. 14, 2002, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home, Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 11 a. m. from St. James Minor Church with Msgr. Lawrence Deno, pastor, as celebrant. Burial will follow in St. James Minor Cemetery. |
