Published: 10/10/02Kenneth H. PrattRouses Point — Kenneth H. Pratt, 73, of Rouses Point, passed away Monday, Oct. 7, 2002, at Evergreen Valley Nursing Home in Plattsburgh, N.Y. He was born Jan. 26, 1929, in Massena, N.Y. Kenneth served in the U.S. Army for 10 years ending with an honorable discharge in September of 1955. He continued with providing service to the country for an additional 28 years, working as a jet mechanic at the former Plattsburgh Air Force Base, retiring in 1984. He was predeceased by his son, Curtis Pratt; sisters Anna Clark and Alice Ethier; brother Reginald Pratt; and two sisters passing away as children. He is survived by his wife, Rena L. Pratt and nine children, Audrey Chapman, Edward Gross, Shirley Niemec, Barbara Castine, Linda Fosher, Glenn Pratt, Anna Bourdon, Laverne Virgile and Mary Laporte; and a special family member, Jacqueline Colgan; 21 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Calling hours will be at the Clark Funeral Home in Champlain on Sunday, Oct. 13, 2002, from 9:30 to 11 a.m. A funeral service will be held on Sunday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery in Rouses Point. Laura Mitchell RichardsonPlattsburgh — Laura Mitchell Richardson, 78, of St. Charles Street, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2002, at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh. She was born in Plattsburgh on Aug. 9, 1924, the daughter of Leon Oliver Mitchell and Eva (Babeu) Mitchell. Laura had been employed at Sharron's Department Store and Merkel's Department Store. She was a member of St. Peter's Church in Plattsburgh, St. Peter's Altar and Rosary Society, American Legion Post 20 Ladies Auxiliary, the Legion of Mary, Golden Age Club, Senior Citizen's Council and was a volunteer for bingo at St. Peter's Church. Laura is survived by one sister, Genevieve LaValley of Plattsburgh; a niece, Dawn Soucy and a nephew, Bruce LaValley; and several great - nieces and great - nephews. Laura was predeceased by her parents and two brothers, Paul Mitchell and Thomas Mitchell. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Thursday, Oct. 10, 2002, at 1 p.m. from St. Peter's Church in Plattsburgh. Burial will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery. Bertha L. SorrellPlattsburgh — Bertha L. Sorrell, 90, of Route 3, Plattsburgh, died Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2002, at the Meadowbrook Health Care Facility in Plattsburgh. She was born in Chelsey, Mass., on Sept. 5, 1912. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Howard and Rose Sorrell of Stillwater, N.Y., and John and Carole Sorrell of Morrisonville, N.Y.; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was an active member of St. Peter’s Church and worked for several years in the housekeeping department at CVPH Medical Center. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph and two sons, Raymond and Kenneth Sorrell. Calling hours will be Thursday, Oct. 10, 2002, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday, Oct. 11, 2002, at 1 p.m. from St. Peter's Church in Plattsburgh. Burial will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery. Marrion Grace Crossman, 79, of Ticonderoga, died Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2002, at the Fletcher Allen Health Care Center of Burlington, Vt. She was born Oct. 27, 1922, in Bridport, Vt. Calling hours will be Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Wilcox & Regan Funeral Home, 11 Algonkin St., Ticonderoga. A funeral service will take place on Friday at 1 p.m. at the Cornerstone Alliance Church of Ticonderoga. The Rev. Marshall Hudson-Knapp, pastor of the First Congregational Church of Fair Haven, Vt., will officiate. Burial will follow in the Lake View Cemetery of Hubbardton, Vt. Donald A. "Dobber" Dobbs, 61, of Ogdensburg, N.Y., died Oct. 7, 2002, at the Claxton Hepburn Medical Center surrounded by the love of his family. He was born Jan. 28, 1941, in Peru, N.Y., the son of Sherry and Leona (Peryea) Dobbs. Calling hours were held on Wednesday evening at the Fox-McLellan Funeral Home in Ogdensburg. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Oct. 10th, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Christopher J. Fusco as celebrant. Burial will be held at Foxwood Memorial Park. Lowe — A funeral service for Joan C. Lowe, who died Oct. 5, 2002, will be held on Saturday, Oct. 12, 2002, at 12:30 p.m. at the Jay Baptist Church in Jay with a luncheon following. Burial will be in the family plot at Jay Central Cemetery after the luncheon. Zaumetzer-Sprague Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. |
