Published: 10/01/02Joseph Rene QuesnelKeeseville — Joseph Rene Quesnel, 82, formerly of Front Street, Keeseville, died Friday, Sept. 13, 2002, at his home in Ocala, Fla., after a short illness, he was under the care of his family and Hospice of Ocala. He was born in Bridgeport, Vt., on Aug. 1, 1920, the son of Joseph Avilla and Lydia (Geroux) Quesnel. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign War. He served with the U.S. Army from 1942 through 1946 in the European Theater during World War II. Joe was owner and operator of the former Keeseville IGA store, for many years. Joe also worked as a carpenter on industrial construction and residence construction. He continued his career as a correction officer and retired after a disability, from the N.Y. State Dept. of Corrections at Dannemora. Late in the eighties, Joe and his wife moved to Ocala, Fla., where they enjoyed traveling in his motor home. Survivors include, his wife, Thelma Quesnel of Paris, Mich. and Ocala, FL.; one son, David Quesnel; one daughter-in-law, and one granddaughter, of Rochester N.Y.; five brothers, Aldoria of Rutland, Vt., Arthur of Lakeland, Fla., and Plattsburgh, N.Y., Raymond of Orlando, Fla., Edward of Plattsburgh, and Hector Quesnel of West Chazy, N.Y. He was predeceased by his parents, J.A. Quesnel and Lydia (Geroux) Quesnel; his first wife, Mildred (Yerdon) Quesnel; and four brothers, Leo, Floriand, Romeo and Maurice Quesnel; and one sister, Lea Marie King. Burial services were held at The Assembly of God Church in Ocala, Fla. Leonard "Joe" CayeaNorth Bangor — Leonard "Joe" Cayea, 62, of Anderson Road, North Bangor, died Saturday, Sept. 28, 2002, at Alice Hyde Medical Center, Malone, N.Y. He was born in Plattsburgh, N.Y., on June 10, 1940, the son of Lawrence and Julia (Gregory) Cayea. Mr. Cayea is survived by Leona, his wife of 32 years; his children, William Cayea of Madrid, N.Y., Latisia and Skip Houston of Tupper Lake, Cristine Fiore of Malone and Letitia and John Coons of Minnesota; Three sisters and brothers-in-law, Barbara and Donald Jabaut of Plattsburgh, N.Y., Wanda and David Paliani of Rochester and Debra and Douglas Grogan of Ellenburg, N.Y.; Three brothers and sisters-in-law, Terry and Margaret Cayea of Ellenburg, Lawrence and Sharon Cayea of Ellenburg, N.Y., and Gary and Martha Cayea of Ellenburg, N.Y.; and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Oct. 13, 1966, and his mother, March 2, 2001. Mr. Cayea was employed at Harlem Valley State Hospital, Wingdale, N.Y., for 37 years as mental health therapy aid, retiring in 1995, moving to North Bangor to make his home. He enlisted into the U.S. Navy in November 1957 and was honorably discharged in April 1961. For many years he served as an altar boy at St. Edmund’s Church. "Joe" was an avid hunter and enjoyed being in the woods. His memberships included New York State American Legion Post 1, National Rifle Association and "32" Hunting Club. There will be no calling hours. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 02, 2002, in St. Edmund’s Church, Ellenburg, with Rev. Joseph Wheelock officiating. Cremation will take place at Whispering Maples Memorial Gardens, Ellenburg Depot. Donations in his memory may be made to The Hope Lodge in care of Fletcher Allen Healthcare, Burlington, Vt. Arrangements by Chateaugay Funeral Home. Duane Darrah, 44, of Smith Street, died Saturday, Sept. 28, 2002, at his residence surrounded by his family. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by the Brown Funeral Home. Elizabelle M. Perry, 79, of Front Street, Malone, N.Y., died early Monday morning, Sept. 30, 2002, at the Alice Hyde Medical Center in Malone. She was born in Malone, Aug. 31, 1923, the daughter of the late Paul and Edna LaRouche Burgess Sr. Calling hours will be held Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Bruso-Desnoyers Funeral Home in Malone. A Mass Christian burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 a.m. at St. John Bosco Church, with the Reverend Tom Moody officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Kathleen O’Neil, 78, of the Lost Nation Road, Churubusco and Lake Forest of Plattsburgh died Sunday, Sept. 29, 2002, at Evergreen Valley Nursing Home, Plattsburgh, N.Y. She was born in Churubusco, N.Y., on Oct. 10, 1923, the daughter of Fred and Frances (Powers) O'Neil. Calling hours will be held at the Chateaugay Funeral Home on, Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2002, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 3, 2002, in St. Patrick’s Church, with Rev. Ray Moreau officiating. Burial will take place at St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Chateaugay. Stewart Lyman Decker, 69, of Woodland Hill, Morrisonville, passed away Sunday, Sept. 29, 2002, at the Fletcher Allen Health Care Facility in Burlington, Vt., with his family at his side. He was born in Middletown, N.Y., on June 6, 1933, the son of Samuel and Mary (Lyman) Decker. A reflection of his life will be held at a time and place to be announced. Arrangements are by the Brown Funeral Home, Plattsburgh. |
