Published:09/29/02Ruth WelletteRouses Point — Ruth Wellette, 86, of Mooers Forks died Friday, Sept. 27, 2002, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh. She had been a resident at Cedar Hedge Nursing Home in Rouses Point. She was born in Verdun, Quebec, on April 30, 1916, the daughter of Fredrick and Florence (McCrea) Spencer. On Jan. 6, 1953, she moved to Rouses Point. On Oct. 28, 1953, she married Wallie Wallette. Ruth was a member of Three Steeples United Methodist Church in Champlain. She worked at the Village Bazarre in Rouses Point for many years. She enjoyed knitting, needle point, ceramics, crafts and her family. In 1985, she moved to Mooers Forks to live near her niece and nephew, Sylvia and Robert Scriver. She is survived by a brother, Clifford Spencer; a sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and Kenneth Aird; a sister-in-law, Vida Spencer; several nieces and nephews; and great and great - great nieces and nephews. Ruth was predeceased by her parents; her husband; her brother, Robert Spencer; and sister and brother-in-law, Winona and Jack Cartlidge. Visitation will be Monday from 10 a.m. to noon at the E.F. Drown Funeral Service in Champlain. Funeral service will be at 12:30 p.m. Monday at Three Steeples United Methodist Church in Champlain. Burial will follow in St Ann’s Cemetery in Mooers Forks. Memorial donations may be made in her memory to the Three Steeples United Methodist Church in Champlain. Larry Lee LegacyAUBURN, N.Y. — Larry Lee Legacy, 46, of Auburn, N.Y., died Monday, Sept. 16, 2002, from injuries suffered in a motorcycle accident just one day before his 47th birthday. He was born Sept. 17, 1955 Larry lived on the family dairy farm on the Chasm Road in Chateaugay. He moved to North Syracuse in 1966, with his late parents, Douglas and Mary (Doris) Malark. Larry was a North Syracuse High School graduate. He lived in the Syracuse area for 20 years before moving to Auburn, where he worked as an industrial mechanic for Owens Brockway Glass in Sennett. Larry and his older brother, Donald purchased a retirement home in Ellenburg Center two years ago. His plan was to move back to the North Country within the next two years upon his retirement. Larry was a member of the National H.O.G. Association (National Harley Owens Group). Larry or "Mad Dog", as his friends called him, loved to ride his 2001 Harley Davidson. As Larry would say "Kick some gears". He loved the North Country and anything to do with the outdoors. Larry loved fishing with his cousin, Bruce Legacy on Chateaugay Lake and area rivers and streams. There weren’t too many times when Larry would make it back up north that he and Bruce didn’t go fishing, hunting or four-wheeling together. Larry had been a member of the family’s Deep Ravine Hunting Club in the town of Bellmont for several years. Larry was a good cook, loved to party and had a great sense of humor. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Larry is survived by two sons, Douglas Jewell and Jeremiah Jewell; his brother, Donald Legacy; three grandchildren; and many relatives still living in Chateaugay and surrounding areas. There was a private family members only gathering at Larry’s home in Auburn on Saturday, Sept. 21, 2001, at 7 p.m. Sunday Sept. 22, 2002, there were private calling hours from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Pettigrass Funeral Home in Auburn. Larry’s ashes will be laid to rest at a private burial with his late parents in the Eastside Cemetery in Chateaugay at the convenience of his family. Karen Fitzpatrick Molholsky, 64, of the Thompson Road, Keeseville, died Friday, Sept. 27, 2002, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh. Calling hours will be held Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Peru. A memorial Mass will be celebrated Tuesday at 11 a.m. at St. Augustine’s Church in Peru. Burial will follow in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Keeseville. A complete obituary will be in the Monday edition of the Press. Stella M. McCann, 86, formerly of Chateaugay, died Saturday, Sept. 28, 2002, at Alice Hyde Nursing Home, Malone, N.Y. She was born in Burnley, England, on April 27, 1916, she was the daughter of Maurice and Harriette (Scarisbrick) Egan. Calling hours will be at the Chateaugay Funeral Home on Monday, Sept. 30, 2002, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian burial will follow at noon in St. Patrick’s Church, with Rev. Ray Moreau officiating. Burial will take place at St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Chateaugay. |
