Leah "Criss" Facto

Keene — Leah "Criss" Facto, 82, of Keene, died Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2002, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

She was born June 19, 1920, in Keene, N.Y., the daughter of Lee and Anita (Havens) Washburn.

Criss was a registered nurse at Utica Memorial Hospital in Utica, N.Y., from 1941 to 1944. From 1944 to 1966, she was an active and proud U.S. Navy wife.

She is survived by her husband, Ernest Facto of Keene; one daughter and son-in-law, Leah and Michael Pisacano of Verona Beach, N.Y.; one brother, William Washburn of Keene; two grandchildren, Lee and Heidi Pisacano of Atlanta, Ga., and Michele Pisacano of Denver, Colo.; and one great-grandson, Bryson Pisacano.

Calling hours will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday at Marvin’s Funeral Home in Elizabethtown. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, Sept. 28th, at 10:30 a.m. at Norton’s Cemetery in Keene, N.Y.

Memorial donations may be made to the Keene Fire Department, Keene, N.Y.

Faith C. Paine

Shelburne, Vt. — Faith Cullen Paine, 99, a resident of Shelburne, Vt., and Willsboro, N.Y., and formerly of New York City and Sarasota, Fla., died on Sept. 21, 2002, of natural causes.
She was the wife of the late Alexander Brooks Paine.

She was born in Blackpool, England, on Nov. 30, 1902. She came to the United States at the age of six, traveling across the Atlantic on the SS Carpathia. She settled in Bronx, N.Y., and later moved with her family to Sailor Snug Harbor on Staten Island.

While living in Snug Harbor, she learned to play tennis and tennis became a very important part of her life. At one time, she taught tennis at the Ethel Walker School in Simsbury, Conn. She also believed strongly in the importance of life-long learning and she continued to take courses into her 90’s.

A memorial celebrating her life is planned for the summer of 2003.

Memorial contributions may be made to Paine Memorial Library, Willsboro, NY 12996.

Albina Cardin, 80, of Champlain, died on Sept. 21, 2002, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

There will be no public calling hours. A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 28, 2002, at St. Mary's Church in Champlain.

Arrangements are with the Clark Funeral Home in Champlain.

Mary Ladd Hair, 54, formerly of South Main Street, Westport, died Aug. 27, 2002, at the Forsyth Hospital in Winston-SaIem, N.C.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, Oct. 3, 2002, at 2 p.m. at the Westport Federated Church with Rev. Evelyn P. Meredith, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the Hillside Cemetery in Westport.

Arrangements are with the Hamilton Funeral Home in Westport.

Hazel F. Hansen, 54, formerly of AuSable Forks, N.Y., died on Sept. 7, 2002, at her home in Troy, N.Y., under the care of her family and Hospice.

She was born in Plattsburgh on May 24, 1948, the daughter of Dorothy (Williams) Hansen and the late Fred J. Hansen.

A graveside service will be held on Oct. 5 at 1 p.m. at North Jay Cemetery in AuSable Forks, N.Y.
