Published: 09/23/02Harry R. BowenPLATTSBURGH — Mr. Harry R. Bowen, 80 of Northway Court, died Saturday, Sept. 21, 2002, at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh. He was born on March 3, 1922, son of the late George W. and Vesta (Cottrell) Bowen. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army Air Corps. Harry was a member of the Civil Air Patrol, an amateur radio operator, and loved to play golf. Harry is survived by his wife, the former Virginia Hively, whom he married on Oct. 6, 1940, in Spencer, W. Va.; two daughters and two sons-in-law, Ann and Harold Sharland of Falls Church, Va., and Martha and Jimmy Yeako of Georgetown, Dela.; one son, Harry Bowen Jr. of Plattsburgh; three sisters, Marie and Ernest Hively, Ernestine Carpenter, Anna Fay Edgel, and one brother, John Bowen, all of West Virginia; four grandchildren, Patricia Bachman, Michele Kamin, Arthur Sharland and Virginia Sharland; two great-grandchildren, Melanie and Ryan; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2002 at 7 p.m. from St. Paul’s Church in Keeseville. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in West Virginia. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Fitzpatrick Cancer Center in Plattsburgh. Arrangements are with Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. DOROTHY SCHWARTZ, 76, of 63 Webster St., Malone, died Saturday, Sept. 21, 2002 at Alice Hyde Medical Center in Malone. Born in Onchiota, N.Y. on Dec. 26, 1925, she was the daughter of Hayden and Angeline (Patnode) Tormey. Visitation will be at Fortune-Keough Funeral Home from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday. The funeral service will follow 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Merrilsville Cemetery in Loon Lake. EARL A. KING, 89, of Bellmont, died Sunday, Sept. 22, 2002 at Highland Nursing Home in Massena. Calling hours are from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Chateaugay Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements. GLADYS MABEL (GUYNUP) BESAW, 89, died Thursday, Sept. 19, 2002 at the Traditions Health and Rehabilitation Center in Lithonia, Ga. She was born in Plattsburgh on Sept. 23, 1912, the daughter of Frederick Harold and Ida Mae (Taylor) Guynup. A graveside service will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 24 at Riverside Cemetery in Plattsburgh. Arrangements are by Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. WALTER J. LePAGE, 85, of Burns-Holden Road in Fort Covington, died at Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington, Vt. on Sunday, Sept. 22, 2002. Born in Fort Covington on March 3, 1917, he was the son of the late George and Natalie Langlois LaPage. Calling hours will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday in the Cappiello-McKenzie and Cosgrove Funeral Home in Fort Covington. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 24 in St. Mary’s Church, Fort Covington. Burial will follow in the old parish cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Fort Covington Fire and Rescue Squad. THERESE GENE’VIEVE KIMER, 83, of Market Street, Keene Valley, died Saturday, Sept. 21, 2002. She was born Nov. 11, 1918 in Paris, France, the daughter of Henri and Etienette (Russel) Pittet-Meeunier. No calling hours will be held. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. W.M. Marvins Sons Funeral Home in Elizabethtown is in charge of arrangements. GENEVIEVE E. BOMBARD, 83, of 420 Old Military Road and formerly of 93 Sentinel Road, Lake Placid, died Sunday, Sept. 22, 2002, at Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake. She was born in Lake PLacid on Jan. 29, 1919, the daughter of George and Mary (Shumway) Preston. Friends may call at Clark Funeral Home in Lake Placid from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at Adirondack Community Church in Lake Placid with the Rev. Mark Demers, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the North Elba Cemetery. |
