Thomas A. "Sandy" Banks Jr.

Westport — Thomas A. "Sandy" Banks Jr., 54, of Stevenson Road, Westport, N.Y., died Friday, Sept. 20, 2002, at his home under the care of his family and High Peaks Hospice.

He was born in Highland, Ill., on May 3, 1948, the son of Thomas A. and Dorothy (Buzbee) Banks.

He served in the U.S. Coast Guard from 1967 to 1970.

Sandy was a stained glass artisan in Hilton Head Island, S.C. He founded the Planters Mercantile, an artists' cooperative and was instrumental in reviving the community of Bluffton. Sandy was a local celebrity and his glass entryways, church windows and hotel ceilings are prized by many islanders. He and his wife Lindsay then moved to Monterey, Mass., and operated The Bigger Light Theatre Company, an award winning European touring organization, where he was an actor and teacher. They restored the 1747 home they lived in which was a base for the theater company and where they trained professional actors. The couple then moved to Westport and were restoring their farm and operating the Soncy Brae Horse Farm.

Sandy was a sailor, a professional tennis player and also enjoyed training horses, cross country skiing, making hay and working the land.

Survivors include his wife, Lindsay Pontius Banks of Westport; two dogs, ten horses and five cats; his mother and stepfather, Dorothy and Paul Keas of Oklahoma; one brother, John Banks of Portland, Maine; and a sister, Sharon Hodges.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, Sept. 28, 2002, at Soncy Brae, 297 Stevenson Rd., Westport, at 1 p.m. Donations in his memory may be made to Soncy Brae Farm.

Arrangements are with the Hamilton Funeral Home in Westport.

Albina Cardin

Champlain — Albina Cardin, 80, of Champlain, passed away Saturday, Sept. 21, 2002, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

She was born April 29, 1922, in Champlain, the daughter of Alexander and Alice (Duquette) Cardin.

She is survived by one brother, Leo Cardin of Gouvenour, N.Y.; one sister - in - law, Florence Cardin of Champlain; one niece, Carol Cardin; and four nephews, Allan Cardin, Dale Cardin, Roy Cardin and Gary Rivers.

She is predeceased by her parents; one sister and brother-in-law, Lena and Harvey Rivers; and one brother, Armand Cardin.

There will be no public calling hours. A Memorial Mass will be announced at a later date by the Clark Funeral Home in Champlain.

Donations in her memory may be made to St. Mary's Church in Champlain.

Marie Jameson

Rouses Point — Marie Jameson, 62, of Rouses Point, passed away Friday, Sept. 20, 2002, at the CVPH Medical Center, surrounded by her family and friends.

She was born on May 11, 1940, the daughter of Albert and Helen (Girouard) Anctil.

She was a cook at the Ole Tymes Café in Rouses Point, which was formerly Anctil's Restaurant and owned by her father.

Marie is survived by two daughters, Sharon Jameson and her companion Dan LaDuc of Rouses Point and Karen Jameson and her companion Toby LaPierre of Rouses Point; one brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Lucy Anctil of Phoenix, Ariz.; one sister, Elaine Favreau of Rouses Point; two grandchildren, Bocephus LaDuc and Tianna LaDuc; a brother-in-law, Lawrence Pelkey of Rouses Point; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents and one sister, Jeannine Pelkey.

Calling hours will be Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Clark Funeral Home in Rouses Point. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Patrick's Church in Rouses Point.

Donations in her memory may be made to the Rouses Point Rescue Squad or Hospice of the North Country.

John K. Farr, 80, of Huntington Drive, Plattsburgh, died Saturday, Sept. 21, 2002, at his home.

He was born in Pasaic, N.J., on Oct. 29, 1921, the son of the late Millard and Vera (Knowlson) Farr. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2002, at 7 p.m. from the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses on the Rand Hill Road in Morrisonville.

Arrangements are with the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh.

Ernest F. Lawas Sr., 72, of the Clinton County Nursing Home and formerly of Upper Jay, died Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2002, at the Clinton County Nursing Home in Plattsburgh.

He was born in New York City on June 15, 1930, the son of the late Fausto and Mary (Onafrey) Lawas.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Saturday, Oct. 12, 2002, at 10 a.m. from Our Lady of Victory Church in Plattsburgh. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.

Arrangements are with the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh.
