Published: 09/20/02Kathleen L. FinneganEast Cambridge, Mass. -— Kathleen L. Finnegan, 50, of East Cambridge, Mass., died unexpectedly Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2002, at Cambridge Hospital in Cambridge, Mass. She was born in Plattsburgh, June 5, 1952, the daughter of Frank T. Finnegan and LaVerne (Neving) Eades. She graduated from Keeseville High School in 1970, Clinton Community College in 1972, and continued her education to receive a degree in computer science. She enjoyed reading, music and was an avid chess player. Kathleen worked as an electrician for the Massachusetts Bay Transit Authority in Boston, Mass. She was a member of the Local Union 103 International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. Survivors include her father and stepmother, Frank and Geraldine Finnegan of Plattsburgh; mother and stepfather, LaVerne and Charles Eades of St. Thomas, Ontario; sister and brother-in-law, Margaret "Peggy" and Bruce McCormick of Peru; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Thomas and Cathy Finnegan of Palm Harbor, Fla., and Barrie Finnegan of AuSable Forks; a dear friend, Martin O’Connell of Sommerville, Mass.; several nieces and nephews, Melissa, Matthew and Andrew McCormick and Michelle, David, Derrick, Julie, Meagan and Christopher Finnegan. A memorial Mass will be celebrated Saturday, Sept. 21, 2002, at 10 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Church in Keeseville, with Monsignor Leeward J. Poissant, pastor, celebrating. Burial will be held at the convenience of her family in St. Thomas, Ontario. Donations may be made to a scholarship fund to be established in her memory at the AuSable Valley Central School. Arrangements are by the Hamilton Funeral Home in Peru. Vivian M. ValleePlattsburgh — Vivian M. Vallee, 77, of Meadowbrook Nursing Facility, formerly of the Robert Long Apartments, passed from among us Monday, Sept. 16, 2002, at the CVPH Medical Center, with her family at her bedside. She was born in Champlain, N.Y., on July 26, 1925, to the late Edgar and Yvonne (LaForest) Mayo. Vivian was predeceased by her husband, Andrew R. Vallee of Tupper Lake on Sept. 27, 1967; by brothers, Gordon, Maynard, Ronald, and Julius Mayo; and by sisters, Bernice Baker, Theresa Guerin and Beulah (Polly) Strayer, all of Champlain. Vivian was employed for several years by Champlain Laundries, and retired from Arpak Plastics in 1985 for medical reasons. She was a long time member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 125 in Plattsburgh. Surviving her are sons, Orris J. Mayo and wife, Carol, Phillip Vallee and fiancee, Sharon Underwood, all of Plattsburgh, and Brian Vallee and wife, Jo Ellen of Issaquah, Wash.; sisters, Veleta Parrish of AuSable Forks, Sidnee Garrow and husband, Wayne of Peru; brother, Reginald Mayo and wife, Jane of Champlain; sister-in-law, Lucy Mayo of Champlain; brother-in-law, John Strayer of Champlain; five grandchildren; one great - grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service for family members will be held Monday, Sept. 23, 2002, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. Funeral services will be at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Plattsburgh, Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2002, at 10 a.m. Interment will be in Tupper Lake at the family’s convenience. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Henry Freedman Kidney Dialysis Unit, Plattsburgh. Mary HarrisELLENBURG CENTER / ROUSES POINT — Mary Harris, 74, of formerly of Ellenburg Center and currently living in Rouses Point died Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2002, at Cedar Hedge Nursing Home, Rouses Point, N.Y. She was born in Ellenburg Center, N.Y., on Aug. 15, 1928, the daughter of George and Frances (DeLong) Whalen. She was married to Martin Harris on July 2, 1954, in Malone. He was predeceased her on Aug. 6, 1999. Mrs. Harris is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Daniel and Karen Harris of Ogdensburg, N.Y.; a daughter, Cathy Harris of Ogdensburg, N.Y.; three brothers, James Whalen of Star Lake, N.Y., Roland Whalen of Johnson City, N.Y., and Mike Whalen of Ellenburg, N.Y.; two sisters, Blanche Jibeault of Marsellus, N.Y., and Helen Madan of Plattsburgh, N.Y. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by parents; a sister, Mildred Curry; and a brother, William Whalen. Mrs. Harris worked at Tru-Stitch in Malone, Ellenburg Central School Cafeteria and Aranack Ribbon Mills in Plattsburgh for over 20 years. She was a member of the Ellenburg United Methodist Church. She enjoyed feeding and watching birds. Funeral services will private, with Rev. Al Johnson of the Ellenburg United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Riverside Cemetery, Ellenburg Center. Donations in her memory may be made to Ellenburg United Methodist Church, Breast Cancer Research or Cedar Hedge Nursing Home-Activities account. Arrangements are with the Chateaugay Funeral Home. Francis R. Mayette, 77, of Wall Street, died on Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2002, at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh. He was born in Plattsburgh on Nov. 28, 1924, son of Napoleon and Martha (Delisle) Mayette. Calling hours will be Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A prayer service will be held at 3:30 led by Rev. Jerry Bleaux. Members of American Legion Post 20 and Veteran’s of Foreign Wars Post #125 will meet Friday evening at 7:30 p.m. for services. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. from Our Lady of Victory Church in Plattsburgh. Burial will follow in St. Peter’s Cemetery in Plattsburgh. Retha "Hon" Bouchard, 85, of Champlain, died Thursday, Sept. 19, 2002, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh. Arrangements were incomplete Thursday evening at the E.F. Drown Funeral Service in Mooers. EARL JAMES CARPENTER, 86, of Palm Harbor, Fla., formerly of Plattsburgh, N.Y., died Friday, July 5, 2002, at St. Mark Village, Palm Harbor. He was born in Malone, N.Y., the son of Wilbur and Oda Carpenter. A graveside committal service will be held at Riverside Cemetery in Plattsburgh at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, 2002. EMMELINE R. TIEF, 91, of the Fairy Lake Road, Moriah, formerly of Port Chester, N.Y., ' died Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2002, at the Community Hospital, Elizabethtown. She was born at Port Chester, N.Y., on March 2, 1911, the daughter of William and Emmeline (Morrison) Hosie. Calling hours and funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in the Ironville Cemetery, Crown Point, N.Y. The Harland Funeral are in charge of the arrangements. |
