John A. Webster

Mooers — John A. Webster, 95, of Mooers, died Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2002, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

He was born in Bronx, N.Y., March 18, 1907, the son of George W. And Margaret (Shea) Webster.

John served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He worked in construction as an operating engineer in New York City.

His wife, the former Jean Wacewiz died on May 29, 1996. A brother, George also died before him.

Survivors include a daughter, Nancy Jean Webster of Mooers, and her companion, Aurel Phaneuf; and a niece, Marge Webster of Jamaica, N.Y.

There will be no calling hours. A committal service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 23, 2002, at Whispering Maples Memorial Gardens Mausoleum in Ellenburg Depot, with the Rev. Al Johnson officiating. Musical selections will be performed by Kenneth and Aurel Phaneuf.

The E.F. Drown Funeral Service in Mooers is in charge of arrangements.

Rita A. Hinds

WILMINGTON — Rita A. Hinds, 78, of the Springfield Road, died Monday, Sept. 16, 2002, at her home.

She was born April 19, 1924, in Wilmington, the daughter of Clifton and Etta (Stephenson) Preston.

Rita enjoyed gardening, walking and going on trips.

She was a foster mother to many children and she made her home their home. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

Member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 504 of AuSable Forks.

She is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Patricia Hunt of South Carolina and Beatrice and Fred Johnson of Upper Jay; three sons and a daughter-in-law, James Rowe of Keeseville, Donald and Cindy Hinds of Wilmington and Donald Hall of Lake Placid; 11 grandchildren; and five great - grandchildren.

Calling hours will be Thursday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Zaumetzer - Sprague Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted Friday morning at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in the family plot at the Haselton Cemetery, Wilmington.

Memorials to her may be made to the Wilmington Fire and Rescue Service.

Robert L. Bowen

WILMINGTON — Robert L. Bowen, 74, of Everest Place, Wilmington, died Monday, Sept. 16, 2002, at the emergency room of the A.M.C., Lake Placid.

He was born Dec. 29, 1927, in Wilmington, the son of Jesse and Rose (Duffy) Bowen.

He was a veteran of World War II.

Member of the American Legion Post 504, AuSable Forks.

He was employed for the Town of Wilmington Highway Department for 42 years, and for several years he was the highway superintendent.

He enjoyed hunting and playing practical jokes.

Bob was sexton for both cemeteries in Wilmington for many years.

He is survived by three daughters, Kelly Bowen, Kathy Bowen and companion, Dan Smith and Kimberly and Donald Hoover all of Wilmington; a son-in-law, Gregory Winch Sr.; seven grandchildren, Tia Winch, Gregory Winch Jr., Jesse Winch, Daniel Smith Jr., Karlee Smith, Robert Keith Bowen and Kayla Hoover; two great-grandsons, Ashton Winch and Kyle Wilkerson; three brothers, Edward Mason, Frank Mason and Francis Betters; an aunt, Barbara Spears; a sister-in-law, Vicky Hozley; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents; a brother, Dickie Mason; and his wife, Judy Bowen who died July 15, 2002.

There will be no calling hours. After cremation, a graveside service will be held Saturday morning at 10 a.m. at Pleasant View Cemetery, Wilmington.

Memorials to him may be made to the Wilmington Fire and Rescue Service or the Wilmington Youth Center.

Zaumetzer - Sprague Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Alice M. (Blood) Aubin

AUSABLE FORKS — Alice M. (Blood) Aubin died Sunday, July 28, 2002, age 98, in Bedford, Texas, after a short illness.

Alice was born in Black Brook, N.Y., May 26, 1904.

Alice was married to Richard J. Aubin Sr. and resided in AuSable Forks, N.Y., until 1986.

She was a loving and devoted wife and mother to a family of eight children.

She was known throughout the AuSable Valley area for her wonderful talent to make baked goods as well as her culinary expertise.

She will be lovingly remembered by all who knew her, as her kitchen door was always open to friends and family.

Alice was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Sr.; her daughter, Anne Irvin Kyea; sons, Richard J. Aubin Jr., Ernest J. Aubin, Francis T. Aubin. Christopher Aubin; and sons-in-law, William C. Irvin and Dennis Robbins; and daughter-in-law, Helen Aubin Wirt.

Survivors include, Donalda A. Otto and husband, Barry V. Otto, Terry Aubin and wife, Dawn; daughter, Alyce L. Robbins; daughter-in-law, Pauline Aubin; and son-in-law, Floyd Kyea. Survivors also include 17 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great-grand-children; and several nieces and nephews.

Zaumetzer - Sprague Funeral Home of AuSable Forks is in charge of arrangements.

Visiting hours are on Sept. 27, 2002 from 7 to 9 p.m. A funeral Mass will be held at the Holy Name Church in AuSable Forks, Sept. 28, 2002, at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in the family plot at Fairview Cemetery.

Francis J. Acquavella, D.D.S

Brooklyn, NY —Francis J. Acquavella passed away Sept. 16, 2002.

Dr. Acquavella was born Aug. 14, 1910, in Brooklyn, NY to Vincent and Maria Acquavella.

He is a graduate of New York University and Georgetown University, where he received his degree in dentistry and oral surgery.

He is a veteran of World War II (South Pacific), after serving as a captain in the U.S. Navy.

He raised his family in New Hyde Park, Long Island and practiced dentistry in the New York City area before retiring to the Saranac Lake area in the 1970’s. He moved to Fort Collins, Colo., in the late 1980’s to be closer to his daughter, Eileen.

He is predeceased by his only brother, Joseph and survived by two sisters, Theresa Acquavella and Virginia Canterino of Brooklyn, N.Y.; Veronica, his wife of 60 years; five children, James of Baker City, Ore., Richard of Virginia Beach, Va., Francis of Walkill, N.Y., Marianne of Saranac Lake, N.Y., and Eileen Orme of Fort Collins, Colo.; nine grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

A graveside will be held Thursday, Oct. 3, 2002, at 10 a.m. at Merrillsville Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to Hospice of Larimer County, 7604 Colland Drive, Ft. Collins, CO 80525.

Minier S. Tyrrell

CROWN POINT, N.Y. — Minier S. Tyrrell, 93, of White Church Road, Crown Point, N.Y., died Monday, Sept. 16, 2002, at the Moses Ludington Hospital, Ticonderoga, N.Y.

He was born at Severance, N.Y., on Oct. 12, 1908, the son of Lemael and Jennie (Braley) Tyrrell.

Minier was a veteran of World War II, Member of the Crown Point American Legion.

He drove truck for the Crown Point Agway for many years.

He was predeceased by his wife, Pheobemae; a sister, Rosamand Johnson; and a brother, Donald Tyrrell.

He is survived by one son, Edward L. Tyrell of Crown Point, N.Y.; and three grandchildren, Christopher, Jonathan and Allana.

There will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be held Thursday, Sept. 19, 2002, at 11 a.m. at the White Church, Crown Point, N.Y.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The American Cancer Association.

Marion E. Palmer

Plattsburgh — Mrs. Marion E. Palmer, 77, of Miller Street, passed away Monday, Sept. 16, 2002, at the Fletcher Allen Health Care Facility in Burlington, Vt.

She was born in Plattsburgh on Sept. 22, 1924, the daughter of Charles E. and Elizabeth (Demary) Lewis.

Marion was raised and lived in Plattsburgh for 42 years, then she moved to Sacramento, Calif., where she lived for 22 years, returning to Plattsburgh in 1988.

She was a member of RSVP, Senior Citizens Council, the Tuesday evening Bingo Club and was a member of St. Peter’s Church.

Marion enjoyed word search puzzles and crocheting.

Marion was predeceased by her parents, Charles E. and Elizabeth Lewis; her husband, Robert Palmer; a brother, Charles Lewis; her sisters, Ruth Newcomer, Irene Latour and Betty Horvatter.

She is survived by two sons, Richard Bell Sr. and his wife, Lois of Florissant, Mo., James Bell and his wife, Jean of Plattsburgh; a brother, Edward Lewis and his wife, Charlotte of Brant Lake; four grandchildren, Christina Roberts of Plattsburgh, Lori Harber and her husband, Charles of St. Charles, Mo., Tina Macomber and her husband, Michael of Florissant, Mo., and Richard Bell Jr. and his wife, Diana of O’Fallon, Mo.; eight great-grandchildren, Rose, Matthew, Rachel, Theresa, Corey, Timothy, Christopher and Stefani; and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home, Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 9 a. m. at St. Peter’s Church. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery.

PHILIP L.D. JOCK, 59, of Drum Street, Fort Covington, N.Y., died unexpectedly, Monday, Sept. 16, 2002, at his home.

He was born in Fort Covington, N.Y., May 10, 1943, the son of the late Eugene and Alice (Allen) Jock.

Calling hours will be Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Cappiello-McKenzie and Cosgrove Funeral Home in Fort Covington. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church, in Fort Covington, with the Rev. Kris Lauzon officiating. Burial will be in the old St. Mary’s Cemetery.

CLYDE R. POOLER, 80, Vaughan Way, Westport, died Friday, Aug. 9, 2002, at the Horace Nye Nursing Home in Elizabethtown.

At Mr. Pooler’s request his remains were donated to the UVM School of Medicine in Burlington, Vt. A memorial service will be held Saturday, Sept. 21, 2002, at 11 a.m. at the Westport Federated Church, with Rev. Evelyn P. Meredith, pastor, officiating.

Arrangements are by the Hamilton Funeral Home in Westport.

Jeffrey W. Seeley, 46, of Elm Street, Malone, N.Y., died Tuesday morning, Sept. 17, 2002, at his home, while under the loving care of his family and Hospice of the North Country, Inc.

He was born in Ogdensburg, N.Y., April 22, 1956, the son of Eugene and Shirley Rogers Seeley.

Calling hours will be Thursday from. 7 to 9 p.m. at the Bruso - Desnoyers Funeral Home in Malone. A funeral service will be held Friday at 10 a.m. in the funeral home chapel, with the Rev. John Koletas officiating. Burial will be in Morningside Cemetery in Malone.

David T. Provan, 60, of Ft. Mongomery, N.Y., died Sept. 15, 2002.

A funeral will be held Wednesday Sept. 18, 2002, by George M. Holt Funeral Home, 50 New Main Street, Haverstraw, N.Y. 10927.

Norma I. Flick, 76, formerly of Morrisonville and Grand Island, Fla., passed away while on route to Florida on Sept. 17, 2002.

She was born in Batavia, N.Y., on June 24, 1926, the daughter of Milner and Mildred (Leaton) Harding.
