Garnet W. Pratt

West Chazy — Garnet W. Pratt, 79, of the O'Neill Road, died Saturday, Sept. 7, 2002, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

He was born in Mooers Forks, N.Y., on Sept. 29, 1922, the son of Davison and Elsie (Blair) Pratt.

Garnet married the former Leita M. Hughes in Potsdam, N.Y., on Feb. 14, 1944.

At the age of 16, he worked as a milkman for the Racquette Valley Dairy in Potsdam for 12 years. Garnet then moved back to the Plattsburgh area and worked for Bayview Dairy for five years. He later drove bus for the Beekmantown Central School District and for the Head Start Program, until retiring in 1984.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Leita of West Chazy; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Richard Pratt of Fort Covington, N.Y., and Gordon "David" and Sharon Pratt of West Chazy; three daughters and sons-in-law, Rita and Richard Zwirblis of Ronkonkoma, N.Y., Jane and William Bushey of Ellenburg Depot and Shirley and Mack Minshew of Macon, Ga.; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Davison Pratt of Chazy and Lawrence and Carol Pratt of Minerva, N.Y.: one sister and one brother-in-law, Madge and George Rudd of Laconia, N.Y.; 15 grandchildren; 15 great - grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a sister, Genevieve Neil, formerly of Vermont; and one great - granddaughter, Cansas Lee Bushey, who died in December of 1998.

Calling hours will be held on Monday, Sept. 9, 2002, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday at a time to be announced in the funeral home chapel.

Burial will follow in Mooers Forks Union Cemetery.

Donations in his memory may be made to the West Chazy Wesleyan Church Memorial Fund or the Turnpike Wesleyan Church.

Hortense H. Ashline, 84, of Stuart, Fla., died Friday, Sept. 6, 2002, at the Fletcher Allen Healthcare Center in Burlington, Vt.

Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by the Hamilton Funeral Home in Peru.

 Jeannette H. Osher, 75, formerly of Dannemora, died Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2002, at the Adams County Hospital in West Union, Ohio.

She was born in Dannemora, N.Y., on Feb. 8, 1927, the daughter of George and Emma (Dupree) Agoney.

Calling hours will be held on Monday, Sept. 9, 2002, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph's Church in Dannemora. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.

 Jessie Steele, 96, of Clinton County Nursing Home, died Thursday, Sept. 5, 2002, at the Clinton County Nursing Home.

She was born in Sciota on Sept. 2, 1906, the daughter of Louis and Mary (Gordon) Relation.

A funeral service will be held Monday, Sept. 9, 2002, at 11 a.m. from Brown Funeral Home Chapel in Plattsburgh with Rev. Kevin O'Brien, pastor of St. John's Church, officiating. Burial will be with her parents in St. Joseph's Cemetery in West Chazy.
