Simone L. Everleth

Plattsburgh — Simone L. Everleth, 89, of the Tom Miller Road in Plattsburgh, died on Thursday, Sept. 5, 2002, at Meadowbrook Healthcare Facility in Plattsburgh.

She was born in Champlain on April 21, 1913, daughter of the late Wilford and Angelina Filion.

Simone was a member of St. Peter’s Church, St. Peter’s Altar and Rosary Society, Ladies of the Elks, the Golden Age Club and was an active senior citizen.

She had been employed by Sharrons, The Fashion Shop, Joanna Town and had retired from Merkel’s Department Store.

Simone had a special devotion to St. Jude. She was known as "The High Heel Lady".

Simone was predeceased by her husband, Ernest Everleth in 1966; and her son, Gerald Everleth in 1995.

She was the last surviving child of a family of 13.

Simone is survived by four grandchildren, Kevin, Wendy, Kelly and Erin; six great-grandchildren, Paris Patterson, Pace Patterson, Pryce Patterson, Joseph Lupisella, Emma Lupisella and Luke Lupisella; and many nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be Sunday, Sept. 8, 2002, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday, Sept. 9, 2002, at 4 p.m. from St. Peter’s Church in Plattsburgh. Burial will follow in St. Peter’s Cemetery in Plattsburgh.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Hospice of the North Country.

Kathleen W. Gardell

PLATTSBURGH — Kathleen W. Gardell, 98, formerly of the Vilas Home and Lake Street, Rouses Point, died Friday, Sept. 6, 2002, at the Meadowbrook Nursing Home.

She was born in Springfield, N.J., on Sept. 18, 1903, the daughter of Benjamin M. and Esther Tuthill (Wadsworth) Woodruff.

Mrs. Gardell married Walter A. Gardell on Aug. 19, 1923. Mr. Gardell died April 26, 1988, at the Veteran’s Hospital in Lyons, N.J.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Robert (Emily) Hueston of Amherst, N.H.; one son-in-law, Mr. William Saxe of Chazy Landing, N.Y.; three granddaughters, Mrs. Timothy (Karen) Mayes of Amherst, N.H., Mrs. Thomas (Linda) Brome of Andover, Conn., and Mrs. Ronald (Janet) Williams of Durhan, N.C.; three grandsons, Emerson Saxe of Rouses Point, N.Y., Scott Saxe of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., and John Saxe of Chazy Landing, N.Y.; and one nephew, Robert S. Underwood of Harrisburg, Va.

She was predeceased by one daughter, Esther Saxe formerly of Chazy Landing; and one sister, Mrs. Robert Underwood of Winchester, Va.

There will be no public calling hours or funeral services.

The R.W. Walker Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Edgar G. S. Gagnier

Chateaugay — Edgar G. S. Gagnier, 82, formerly of Chateaugay died Thursday, Sept. 5, 2002, at the Alice Hyde Nursing Home, Malone, N.Y.

He was born in Churubusco, N.Y., on Sept. 7, 1919, the son of Edgar and Jeannette (Patneaude) Gagnier.

He was married to Bernice Aldrich on Feb. 16, 1945, in St. Patrick’s Church, Washington D.C. She predeceased him on Oct. 13, 2000.

Mr. Gagnier is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry and Michaele Gagnier of Chazy Lake, N.Y., Glen and Dorothy Gagnier of Croghan, N.Y., John and Cindy Gagnier of Valparaiso, Ind.; two daughters and a son-in-law, Janet and Daniel Waldron of Chateaugay Lake, N.Y., and Giesele LaClair of Cadyville, N.Y.; 15 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one brother, James Gagnier of Washington D.C.; three sisters, Albertine Griffith of Old Bethpage, Long Island, Evelyn Kissane of Chateaugay, N.Y., and Sister Regina Gagnier of Wilmington, Del.

Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; a granddaughter, Danielle Waldron; and two brothers, Hubert and Gerard Gagnier; and a sister, Annette Gagnier.

After graduating from Chateaugay High School in 1936, Mr. Gagnier attended Notre Dame and Cornell Universities then returned home to run "Gagnier Brothers Certified Seed Potatoes" with his brother, Hubert, for the next 40 years until his son, Jerry, joined him in 1980.

During that time, in addition to assisting his wife, Bernie, in raising five children and becoming a pilot, Ed ran for State Assemblyman and Senator, was an active member and director of the NYS Certified Seed Association, served on the board of directors of Clinton Community College, belonged to the Empire State Potato Club, the Council K of C in Chateaugay, Our Lady of Victory Assembly K of C, BPOE 1303 in Malone for 60 years and a charter and lifelong member of the Ellenburg Kiwanis Club.

Ed also enjoyed hunting with his friends at Johnson’s Hunting Club and other places.

Calling hours will be Saturday, Sept. 7, 2002, at the Chateaugay Funeral Home from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Funeral services will follow at 1:30 p.m. in St. Patrick’s Church, with Rev. Ray Moreau officiating. Cremation will take place at Whispering Maples Inc., Ellenburg Depot.

Christina L. Frank, age 26, of the Foster Road, Ft. Covington, N.Y., was dead on arrival at the Alice Hyde Hospital in Malone, N.Y., Thursday, Sept. 5, 2002.

Calling hours will be Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Cappiello - McKenzie and Cosgrove Funeral Home in Fort Covington. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church in Fort Covington, with the Rev. Kris Lauzon and Rev. Garry Giroux officiating. Burial will be in the new St. Mary’s Cemetery.
