Ernest J. ‘Ernie’ Gaulin

PERU — Ernest J. "Ernie" Gaulin, 69, of Conners Road, Peru, died Saturday, Aug. 31, 2002 at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

He was born in Chicopee, Mass., Feb. 2, 1933, the son of William and Mariange (Blanchette) Gaulin.

Ernie retired from the United States Air Force in 1977 as a tech sergeant and also was employed at Georgia Pacific in Plattsburgh.

He was a member of the American Military Retirees of Plattsburgh, the Disabled American Veterans Association of Plattsburgh and the Peru VFW Post 309.

Survivors include his wife, the former Rosemary Coomber of Peru; a son, William Gaulin and his companion, Karen Martin, of Omaha, Neb.; two daughters and son-in-law, Sandra and Robert Wilkins of Plattsburgh, and Renee and Craig Martineau of Peru; and six grandchildren, Stephanie and Michelle Gaulin, Aaron and Zachary Wilkins, and Nathan and Alec Martineau.

He was predeceased by one son, Michael Joseph Gaulin.

Calling hours will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Hamilton Funeral Home in Peru. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Augustine’s Church in Peru with the Rev. Vicente Jazmines, pastor, celebrating. Full military honors and burial will follow in the parish cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Aplastic Anemia and MDS, or the Neely House at NEMC.

Roy H. Daniels

MORRISONVILLE — Roy H. Daniels, 72, of Turner Road, Morrisonville, died Sunday, Sept. 1, 2002, at his home under the care of his family and Hospice of the North Country.

He was born in Plattsburgh, May 21, 1930, the son of Henry and Delia Daniels.

He married the former Marie Duell on Oct. 11, 1952 at Our Lady of Victory Church in Plattsburgh.

Mr. Daniels was a member of the Union Local 186 and was employed with Murnane Building Contractors, Inc. in Plattsburgh.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Survivors include his wife, Marie Daniels of Morrisonville; four sons and two daughters-in-law, Roy Jr. and Sharon Daniels of West Virginia, Ronald and Celeste Daniels of Clintonville, Joseph Daniels of Schuyler Falls, and James "Mickey" Daniels and his companion, Taunya Duell, of Peru; two daughters and sons-in-law, Debra and Nick Hilweh of Hawaii and Barbara and Dennis Banker of Peasleeville; six sisters and five brothers-in-law, Florence and Robert Covel of Schuyler Falls, Jean and Victor Durocher of Tennessee, Leona and Kenneth Edwards of Tennessee, Virginia Smith of Plattsburgh, Mary and Wayne LaGoy of Morrisonville and Betty Ann and Harold Benjamin of Plattsburgh; 13 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

There will be no public calling hours. Service and burial will be private and at the convenience of the family in Peasleeville Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Hospice of the North Country.

Arrangements are incomplete with Hamilton Funeral Home in Peru.

CAROLE R. PORTER, 70, of 12 1/2 Middle St., Lake Placid, died Saturday, Aug. 31, at her home.

She was born in Tupper Lake, the daughter of Perley and Minnie Wells.

There are no calling hours.

A graveside service for family and friends will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 7 at St. Agnes Cemetery in Lake Placid. The Rev. Patrick O’Reilly, chaplain of Uihlein Mercy Center, will officiate.

Clark Funeral Home in Lake Placid is in charge of arrangements.
