Published 08/31/02Debra A. MasonPeru — Debra A. Mason, 48, of the Brand Hollow Road, passed away Thursday, Aug. 29, 2002, surrounded by her loving family at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh. She was born in Waltham, Mass., on Sept. 2, 1953, the daughter of Dominic and Mary (Corcoran) Niose. Debbie worked at CVPH Medical Center as a physical therapist assistant. Prior to moving to Peru, she lived in Sharon, N.H., and attended NHCTC in Claremont, N.H., graduating with honors in 1999. She was a member of the American Physical Therapy Association and SEIU Local 721. Debbie is survived by her parents, Dominic and Mary Niose of East Falmouth, Mass.; three sons, Richard A. Mason of Durham, N.C., Robert A. Mason of Peperell, Mass., and Douglas D. Mason and his wife, Heather of Peru; one sister, Donna Gay of Fredericksburg, Va.; and one brother, David Niose and sister-in-law, Katy of Lunenburg, Mass.; four nieces and three nephews; and many aunts and uncles. Her faithful canine companion, Abbey also of Peru, passed away on Aug. 9, 2002. Visiting hours will be held Sunday, Sept. 1, 2002, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Peru. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday, Sept. 2, 2002, at 11 a.m. at St. Augustine’s Church in Peru, with Rev. Vicente Jazmines, pastor, celebrating. GregwareCumberland Head — Patricia A. Gregware, 74, of Champlain Park, died Thursday, Aug. 29, 2002, at Fletcher-Allen Health Care in Burlington, Vt. She was born in Rouses Point on July 27, 1928, the daughter of Fred and Flora (Longtin) Murray. She graduated from Plattsburgh State University in 1950 with a bachelors degree in nursing. She was a registered nurse and was a school nurse teacher for Lyon Mountain High School for 15 years and later for Altona High School and Northern Adirondack Central School. She retired May 15, 1984. She was a member of St. Mary’s of the Lake Church on Cumberland Head. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Tom and Bonnie Gregware of Plattsburgh and James and Cathy Gregware of Rexford; a daughter and son-in-law, Vickie and James Chevalier of Morrisonville; a sister in law, Yvonne Gregware of Plattsburgh; four grandchildren, Shane Chevalier, Jena Gregware, Ryan Gregware and Kailee Gregware; and several nieces and nephews. Her husband, John W. Gregware died on March 10, 2001; A sister, Gerolyn Durant also died earlier. HerbertPLATTSBURGH, NY — Margaret G. Hebert, 79, of South Peru Street, died Thursday, Aug. 29, 2002, at her residence following a long illness, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on Nov. 13, 1922, in West Chazy, N.Y., the daughter of Walter and Margaret (Lucia) LaPier. Margaret married Clarence Hebert in St. Peter’s Church on Aug. 29, 1942. Clarence died on Dec. 23, 1999. She was a member of Our Lady of Victory Church and a former member of the Fun Timers Square Dancers Club. Margaret also enjoyed shopping, reading, camping and spending time with her family. Survivors include six sons and two daughters-in-law, Lawrence Hebert of New Britain, Conn., Michael Hebert of Manchester, Conn., Dale Hebert of Los Angeles, Calif., Scott Hebert of Plattsburgh, Robert and Carole Hebert of Utica, N.Y., and Gary and Carolyn Hebert of Marblehead, Mass.; three daughters and one son-in-law, Joanne Hebert of Danbury, Conn., Linda LaPoint of Plattsburgh and Brenda and Dan LaPoint of Plattsburgh; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Gerald and Elaine LaPier of Keeseville, Theodore and Margaret LaPier of Plattsburgh and Edward and Virgilus LaPier of Sciota, N.Y.; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Eva Sheridan of Plattsburgh and Audrey and Willard Bulriss of West Chazy; five grandchildren, Dina LaPoint-Miller, Lisa LaPoint, Debra Roberts and Keith and Amanda Hebert; one great-grandchild, Jocelyn Roberts; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by five brothers, Orville, Raymond, Walter, Francis, and Bernard LaPier; and one sister, Gertrude Fifield. White, 78, formerly of Plattsburgh, died Thursday, Aug. 29, 2002, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Syracuse. He was born in Altona on Sept. 10, 1923, the son of Oscar and Grace (Mousseau) White. He was employed as a machine operator for the Carrier Corp. in Syracuse for several years. He served in the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theatre during World War II and was a member of the Mooers American Legion and the Beekmantown Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1466. He is survived by two sons, Clarence White of Canastota and Robert White of Canastota; four daughters, Diane Foster of Watertown, N.Y., Deborah Campbell of Eaton., N.Y., Cynthia Goodwin of Cortland and Darlene Wheelin of New Woodstock; a sister, Mildred Boyd of Peru; his companion, Linda Papin; and several grandchildren. Five brothers, Henry, George, Joseph, Harold and John White; and four sisters, Grace Hewson, Ida White, Adeline Bushey and Lori White died before him. Sandra Lynn Duso, age 57, of Saranac Lake, died Friday, Aug. 30, 2002, in Jupiter Island, Fla. She was born in Saranac Lake on Sept. 29, 1944, the daughter of Albert and Mildred (Morrow) Kunath. There will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Fortune - Keough Funeral Home, with Father Fredrick Dennis, pastor of St. Luke’s Church, officiating. |
