Vedna Alice Armstrong

TICONDEROGA — Vedna Alice Armstrong, 87, of Lord Howe Estates, passed away Sunday, Aug. 18, 2002, at the Moses-Ludington Nursing Home of Ticonderoga.

Born in Ticonderoga, April 21, 1915, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Laura (Goodspeed) Brockney.

Mrs. Armstrong was a life-long resident of Ticonderoga and was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Ticonderoga.

She was employed by the Christmas Club of Ticonderoga for many years and also the Ticonderoga Chamber of Commerce.

She was predeceased by her husband, Owen R. Armstrong; one son, Robert Armstrong; one brother, Clarence Brockney; and one sister, Marjorie Whitford.

Survivors include one son, Patrick O. Armstrong of Ticonderoga; four daughters, Joan Armstrong of Rensselaer; Lucinda Morrison of Ticonderoga; Lola Williams of Rensselaer; Maureen Leerkes of Ganesvoort; and one sister, Florence Granbacka of Corona, Calif.

She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will take place 10 a.m. Tuesday at the First United Methodist Church of Ticonderoga. The Rev. Paul L. Dufford Jr., pastor, will officiate.

Norman F. Violette Sr.

CLIFTON PARK — Norman F. Violette Sr., 62, died peacefully on Saturday, Aug. 17, 2002.

He was born in Witherbee, N.Y., and was the son of the late Francis and Rita Baissone Violette.

Norman was raised in Albany and resided in Latham for 20 years before moving to Clifton Park last year. He had served in the U.S. Army from 1957 to 1961. Norman was a bus operator with CDTA for 27 years, retiring in 1997.

He is the beloved husband of 35 years to Barbara Grant Violette; beloved father of Robert J. LaPeter of Albany, Norman F. Violette Jr. and his wife, Michelle, of Clifton Park, and Peter J. Violette and his wife, Tracy, of Latham. He is the brother of Arlene Cocco, Robert Violette and Donna Ertel, all of Albany. He is the grandfather of Nicholas, Nathan, Ryann and Meghan Violette. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be offered on Wednesday afternoon at 1 at New Comer Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. Calling hours will precede the service from 11 to 1 at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Memorys Garden, Colonie.

Harriet M. Jarvis

ELLENBURG DEPOT — Harriet M. Jarvis, 90, died Saturday, Aug. 17, 2002 at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

Born in Altona on July 16, 1912, she was the daughter of Joseph and Corrine (Dame) Burl.

Harriet was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America and a member of the Altona Senior Citizens.

Survivors include two daughters and two sons-in-law, Carol and Freeman LaValley of Mooers Forks and Linda and Gary Manor of Chazy; two sons, Harold Jarvis and his wife, Betty, and Clayton Jarvis, all of Forest; a daughter-in-law, Linda Johnson of Forest; a sister, Theresa Woodley of Altona; 14 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Her husband, Clarence, and a son, Norman, died before her. Five brothers, Orville, Emile, Henry, Leonard and Philip Burl, and a sister, Corrina Gebo, also died before her.

Calling hours will be Monday, Aug. 19, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the E.F. Drown Funeral Service in Ellenburg Depot. A wake service will take place at 8:30 p.m.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, Aug. 20, at St. Edmund’s Church in Ellenburg at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Holy Angel’s Cemetery in Altona.

GERARD R. ‘DING’ GREGOIRE, 79, of Rouses Point, died Friday, Aug. 16, 2002 at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

Arrangements are incomplete at this time and will be announced by Clark Funeral Home in Champlain.
