He was born in Plattsburgh on Dec. 17, 1937, the son of Ross and Margaret (Connick) Macey. In his younger years, Russell enjoyed hunting, fishing and snowmobile riding. Russell is survived by two brothers and a sister-in-law, Gary and Carol Macey of Morrisonville and Leonard Macey of Morrisonville; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Ina and William Baker of Plattsburgh, Beverly Rivers of Morrisonville and Nancy Gebo and her companion David Stone of Plattsburgh; and several nieces and nephews. Russell was predeceased by his parents, Ross and Margaret Macey. Calling hours will be Sunday from 7 to 9 p. m. and Monday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Brown Funeral Home, Plattsburgh. A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. at the Brown Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. William G. Reamer, chaplain at CVPH Medical Center, officiating. Interment will follow in the family plot in Riverside Cemetery. Gina L. PavonePlattsburgh — Miss Gina L. Pavone, 55, of Maryland Road, passed away Thursday, Aug. 15, 2002, at her home surrounded by her family, after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Plattsburgh on Oct. 15, 1946, the daughter of Ernest John and Anna (Proterra) Pavone. Gina graduated from St. John's School and attended Adirondack Community College and Data Processing School in Georgia. She worked for New York Telephone Company in Plattsburgh and Albany. Gina had lived in Virginia and New Jersey, working for American Motors and transferred to California and Michigan working for Daimler Chrysler Corporation as a supervisor in Training Operations. She recently moved back to Plattsburgh. Gina enjoyed music, piano and guitar, traveling, the ocean and bird watching. She is survived by her mother, Anna Pavone of Plattsburgh; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Elizabeth and Robert Bergevin of Plattsburgh and Rosemary Brenner of Plattsburgh; her beloved companion, Michael O'Hare of Saratoga; nieces and nephews, B.J. and Brian Bergevin and Beth (Bergevin) O'Rielly, Kimberly (Brenner) Koepsell and Kevin Brenner; great-nieces and great-nephews, Tanner and Claire Bergevin, Brendan and Kevin O'Rielly and Zachary and Brittany Koepsell; several cousins, especially JoAnne Dandrow, who she considered a sister; and her faithful pet, China. There will be no calling hours. A funeral service will be held Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be at Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Thomas Sr., 74, of Main Street, passed away Thursday, Aug. 15, 2002, at the CVPH Medical Center. He was born in Utica, N.Y., on Feb. 14, 1928, the son of William and Margaret (Jones) Thomas. Russell was a veteran of Korea, serving in the U.S. Army. He enjoyed camping, crossword puzzles, word games, going to the American Legion in Champlain and boating, but most of all his children and grandchildren. While living in Utica, he worked at Bendix Corporation and then moved to Champlain where he worked at Harris Corporation. Russell is survived by a son, Russell W. Thomas Jr. and his wife Debbie of Chazy; a daughter, Margaret L. Wert and her husband John H. of Wayne, N.J., and a daughter, Deborah Lynn Thomas of Champlain; four grandchildren, Skyler and Hunter Thomas and Amy and Lane Baker; a great - granddaughter, Chelsea; a brother, Lynn Thomas and his wife Mary of Kayuata Lake, N.Y.; a sister, Florence Kelly and her husband Alfred of Clinton, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews. She was born on June 28, 1922, in Crown Point, N.Y., the daughter of Henry and Mildred Stanton. She was predeceased by her husbands, John Stone and Clarence Perry; her brother, Daniel; and her parents, Henry and Mildred Stanton. God saw you getting tired, and the cure was not to be. So he put his arm around you and said come to me. With tearful eyes we watched, as you slowly passed away. And though we loved you dearly, We could not make you stay. Many times we needed you, So many times we cried. If only love could have saved you, You never would have died. Hazel was a loving mother and grandmother and she loved the outdoors. She is survived by her sister, Audrey Delaire; two daughters and one son, Nancy and John Burgey, Colleen and Mike Flack and Ronald and Delores Stone; Hazel had nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Catherine Ruth (Carr) DonovanTiconderoga — Catherine Ruth (Carr) Donovan, 95, formerly of Abercrombie Street, passed away Friday, Aug. 16, 2002, at the Moses-Ludington Nursing Home of Ticonderoga. She was born in Ticonderoga on June 18, 1907, the daughter of the late Wesley and Elmina (Darling) Carr. Mrs. Donovan was a resident of Ticonderoga for most of her life. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Ticonderoga. She was predeceased by her husband, Gerald H. Donovan; and by her daughter, Helen T. Yaw. Survivors include one son, Gerald E. Donovan of Fort Pierce, Fla.; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. William Joseph BianchiCadyville, N.Y. — William Joseph Bianchi of Cadyville, N.Y., died in Burlington, Vt., on Aug. 13, 2002. He was born to Damerino Bianchi and Evelyn Garelli Bianchi on March 6, 1923, in Ensley, Ala., and graduated from Ensley High School, Class of 1940. Bill was an accomplished tenor saxophone musician by age 16 and began playing professionally at age 17, traveling with big bands throughout the central United States. Under the direction of his father, he was an apprentice rigger and cable splicer at U.S. Steel in Fairfield, Ala., and received journeyman status at age 19. He served during World War II in the U.S. Navy Seabees, stationed in the New Hebrides Islands before honorable discharge in 1945. He attended the University of Alabama 1946 to 1948 on the GI Bill, studying journalism and later wrote several novels and many short stories. Bill was a park ranger at Yellowstone National Park from 1948 to 1949 where he met and married Harriet Eloise Henneman. Their marriage produced three surviving sons, William of Peru, N.Y., David Alan of Silver Spring, Md., and Mark Steven of Branford, Conn. Bill moved to the Adirondack region of New York in 1955, where he worked as an ironworker building missile silos for the United States during the cold war. He was also an apple farmer, musician and country store owner before retirement in 1987. He was a life member of the International Assoc. of Bridge Structural and Ornamental Ironworkers Union, Local 12. He is survived by his sons; a brother, Angelo Joseph Bianchi of Hoover, Ala.; a sister, Marion (Bianchi) Lorino of Birmingham, Ala.; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandson. Robert Edward "Bob" GreenHarrisburg, Utah — Robert Edward "Bob" Green, 79, passed away Friday, Feb. 1, 2002, in St. George, Utah. He was born Oct. 5, 1922, in New Castle, N.Y. Bob attended the New York State Military Academy where he wrestled and played basketball, lacrosse and football. After graduating from the NYSMA, he attended college at Norwich, Vt. During World War II, Robert served as a motor sergeant in the U.S. Army. He saw combat during the invasion of Okinawa and then served as a peace keeper during the occupation of Japan. After returning from the war, Bob lettered in football before graduating from the University of Vermont. On July 29, 1967, Robert married Diana Mason in Princeton, N.J. During his professional career, Mr. Green was a teacher of English, a football coach, a prizefighter, a salesman and a mechanical contractor. He was a volunteer fire chief in Brasher Falls, N.Y., and a member of the Honorary Commanders of the Strategic Air Command at the former Plattsburgh Air Force Base, N.Y. He was a life long member of the Lutheran Church and loved the Lord very much. He was a member of the Freemasons Society, the Knights of Columbus and the Elks Club. During his free time, Bob enjoyed power boating with his family on Lake Champlain and the St. Lawrence River. He loved skiing Jay Peak, Vt., and Whiteface Mountain, N.Y., and was a member of the National Ski Patrol. He was an avid big game hunter. Robert really, really loved golf and often traveled throughout New England to play prestigious amateur tournaments. Upon retirement, Bob and Diana set sail to Florida and the Caribbean Islands. After three years of living aboard they traded the open sea for the open road, which brought them to St. George, Utah, where they were warmly welcomed by the greatest friends anyone could ever ask for. Robert is survived by his wife, Diana M. Green of Harrisburg, Utah; son Robert F. Green of Singers Glen, Va.; daughter Karla Young of Massanutten, Va; daughter Pamala Clift of Morrison, Colo.; daughter Mary Lee Pastori of Aurora, Colo.; son Adam H. Green of Hurricane, Utah; four grandsons; three granddaughters; and one great-granddaughter. Robert Green was a faithful husband, a loving dad, a witty and completely honest, true American hero and he will be sadly missed. Godspeed Bob!
