Michael Stephen Fish

SUDBURY, Vt. — Michael Stephen Fish, 51, died Thursday, Aug. 8, 2002, at his home in Sudbury.

Mr. Fish was born May 10, 1951. He was the son of Harold and Grace (Mero) Fish. He received his early education in Mt. Kisco, N.Y., schools and was graduated from Black River High School in Ludlow, Vt., class of 1969. Afterwards, he attended the University of Vermont. Following his education he worked for several years at General Electric in Burlington. He had been self-employed in landscaping and trucking for the past 15 years. He had been a resident of Sudbury since 1997, having moved here from Williston, Vt.

Surviving is his mother, Grace Maddaloni, of Willsboro.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date at St. Philips Catholic Church in Willsboro. A private graveside committal service and burial will follow in St. Philips Cemetery in Willsboro.

There are no calling hours.

Memorial gifts in lieu of flowers may be made in his memory to the Vermont Heart Association, 12 Hurricane Lane, Williston, VT 05495.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Miller and Ketcham Funeral Home in Brandon.

Naomi I. Sherburne

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Naomi I. Sherburne, 89, of St. Petersburg and formerly of Peru, died Aug. 10, 2002.

She was a long time resident of Rye, N.Y., and a member of the United Methodist Church. She graduated from Plattsburgh Normal School, where she received her teaching degree, and then taught elementary school in Delray Beach, Fla., and New York state.

She was an avid gardner and belonged to gardening clubs in St. Petersburg and New York.

She was predeceased by her husband, John H. Sherburne III; a daughter, Phyllis S. West; and her parents, Lenore (Church) and Joseph Irwin.

She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth S. Johnson of Clinton, N.J.; her son, John H Sherburne IV, and her sister, Phyllis Lewis, both of St. Petersburg; her brother, Kermit Irwin of Peru; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be held at Anderson-McQueen Funeral Homes in St. Petersburg on Aug. 14, 2002, at 2 p.m. Interment will follow at Sunnyside Cemetery, St. Petersburg.

Julius S. Mayo

CHAMPLAIN — Julius S. Mayo, 68, of South St., Champlain, died Friday, Aug. 9, 2002, at his home. He was born in Champlain on Nov. 24, 1933, son of the late Edgar and Yvonne (LaForest) Mayo.

He served in the United States Air Force from 1952 to 1956. After being discharged from the service, he was employed by various construction companies before joining the staff at Harris Graphics where he was employed for several years. From there, he went to work for General Services Administration in Rouses Point in 1968, until his retirement in 1995. Following retirement, he worked for Meals on Wheels and World Warehouse in Champlain.

He was a member and past commander of the American Legion Post #767 and the Clinton County American Legion. He was also a long time member of the Champlain Volunteer Fire Department, the VFW Post #1418 and the Knights of Columbus Council in Rouses Point.

He is survived by his wife, the former Lucy (Monette-Davison) Mayo of Champlain; two daughters, Faith Ann Davison-Hauer and her husband, William, of Newfane, Vt., and Julie Davison-Bertrand and her husband, John, of Orange City, Fla.; one brother and sister-in-law, Reginald Mayo and his wife, Jane, of Rouses Point; three sisters and one brother-in-law, Vivian Vallee of Plattsburgh, Veleta Parrish of AuSable Forks, and Sidnee and Wayne Garrow of Peru; three grandchildren, Jeremy Bertrand of Deltona, Fla., and Hillary and Patrick Hauer of Newfane, Vt. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Julius was predeceased by three brothers, Gordon, Maynard and Ronald, and three sisters, Bernice, Theresa and Beulah.

There will be no public calling hours. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Church, Champlain, on Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2002, at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Ann’s Cemetery in Mooers Forks. there will be a reception following the burial at the American Legion in Champlain.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Champlain Fire and Rescue, St. Mary’s Church or St. Mary’s Academy. Arrangements are with Clark Funeral Home in Champlain.

ELIZABETH M. CANNING, 89, of Smith Street, Dannemora, died Sunday, Aug. 11, 2002, at CVPH Medical Center.

Calling hours and funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh.
