Published 08/06/02Walter B. "Bud" MoultonPERU — Walter B. "Bud" Moulton, 82, of LaFlure Lane, Peru, died Sunday, Aug. 4, 2002 at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh. He was born in Ellenburg Depot, July 28, 1920, the son of Bruce and Helen (Paul) Moulton. He was a graduate of Chateaugay High School class of 1936. He was a veteran of World War II, having served five years in the Army Air Corp. as a warrant officer. Bud was retired from Republic Steel Corp., Adirondack Ore Mines as chief cost accountant, and most recently, the Lester E. Thew Funeral Home in Peru. He was a 50-year member of the AuSable River Lodge #149 and past master of Mt. Hermon Lodge in Ellenburg; a member of various Masonic bodies and 32nd degree Mason; a member of the Oriental Shrine in Troy; and member and past president of the Norco Shrine Club. He was a life member of the Keeseville Elks Lodge #2072 and a 57-year member of the American Legion, of which he was a 55-year member of the Lyon Mountain American Legion Post #1623. He was also a member of the Peru Community Church. Survivors include four sons and daughters-in-law, James and Joanne Moulton of Lyon Mountain, Donald and Cathy Moulton of Upper Chateaugay Lake, Jeffrey and Rosemary Moulton of Colts Neck, N.J., and David and Jill Moulton of North Canton, Conn.; a brother, John Moulton of Ogdensburg; a sister, Ethel Ouimet of Chateaugay; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Grace Lloyd, on March 8, 1991; his parents; a sister, Kathryn; and a brother, Donald. A memorial service will be held 6 p.m. Tuesday at Peru Community Church with the Rev. Dr. Kenneth Parker, pastor, officiating. Donations in his memory may be made to the Shriners Crippled Childrens Hospital or the Peru Community Church. Arrangements are with Hamilton Funeral Home in Peru. Viola M. BaxterEllenburg Depot — Viola M. "Vi" Baxter, 90, died Monday, Aug. 5, 2002, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh. She was born in Ellenburg Depot on Oct. 20, 1911, the daughter of David and Minnie (Chapman) Baxter. She was a lifelong resident of Ellenburg Depot. She taught for 44 years at Teft School District, Ellenburg Central School and Northern Adirondack Central School. She attended the Chateaugay Training Class and Plattsburgh Normal School. She was a graduate of Plattsburgh State Teachers College. She was a lifetime member of the Mount Herman Chapter of the Eastern Star and was a member of the Valley Grange 1050, the N.Y.S. Retired Teachers Association and the Ellenburg United Methodist Church. She was an avid traveler, card player, sports fan and was a true patriot. She is survived by three sisters, Doris Drown, Norma Wright and Mary DuBrey, all of Ellenburg Depot; several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins. Her parents; two brothers, Lynn and Justin; and a sister, Thelma Reynolds all died before her. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 3 to 7 p.m. at the E.F. Drown Funeral Service in Ellenburg Depot. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 2 p.m. from the funeral home chapel. Lillian Maye CollinsCHATEAUGAY — Lillian Maye Collins, 74, of Burchacon Apts., Chateaugay, died Saturday, Aug. 3, 2002 at Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington, Vt. Born in Merrill, N.Y., on Oct. 03, 1927, she was the daughter of William and Jennie (Davis) La Point. She was married to Marvin Collins in St. Bernard’s Church, Lyon Mountain on March 17, 1946. He predeceased her on Aug. 7, 1953. Mrs. Collins is survived by three sons, Herbert Collins of Chateaugay Lake, Patrick Collins and his wife, Sharon, of Chateaugay, and Floyd Collins of Merrill; four grandchildren, Patricia Cook, Nanette Hebert, Jeremy Collins and Colleen Collins; two great-grandchildren, Patrick and Douglas Cook; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Pearl Ashline of Lyon Mountain, Dorothy and Carmen Merrill of Saranac and Evelyn LaPoint of Chateaugay; a sister-in-law, Flora St. Louis of Plattsburgh; and many nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Howard, Harry, Bernard and Edward LaPoint; and a sister, Geraldine LaMere. Mrs. Collins was employed at Tru Stitch in Malone for 13 years and also the Hollywood Inn of Merrill. She was a member of St. Bernard’s Church, Lyon Mountain and former member of Our Lady of Snow Catholic Daughters and St. Bernard’s Altar and Rosary Society. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and will be missed very much by her family and friends. Calling hours will be held at the Chateaugay Funeral Home on Tuesday, Aug. 6, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 7 at St. Patrick’s Church, Chateaugay, with the Rev. She was born in Leeds,, Mass., March 31, 1915, the daughter of the late Octavia and Alice (Boisvert) Cheverette. Calling hours will be Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Cappiello - McKenzie and Cosgrove Funeral Home in Fort Covington. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church in Fort Covington, with the Rev. Kris Lauzon officiating. Burial will be in the new St. Mary’s Cemetery in Fort Covington. SISTER MARY AMELIA, 92, of Mount Sacred Heart Convent, Grove Street in Littleton, N.H. She was born in Altona, N.Y., the daughter of Charles and Emma (Miller) Lafreniere. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday, Aug. 5, 2002, at 10 a.m. at the Mt. Sacred Heart Chapel and burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Cemetery, Newport, Vt., at 1 p.m. The Ross Funeral Home, Littleton Chapel and Curtis - Britch Converse-Rushford Funeral Home of Newport, Vt., are in charge of arrangements. STEWART — A graveside service for Kenneth W. Stewart, 86, of 115th Street, Largo, Fla., and formerly of Fort Covington, N.Y., who died in Largo on Wednesday, July 24, 2002, will be held Monday, Aug. 19, 2002, at the Coal Hill Cemetery in Westville at 3:30 p.m., with the Rev. Robert Simonds officiating. The Fort Covington Masonic Lodge will also conduct a service at this time. Arrangements are through the Cappiello - McKenzie Funeral Home in Fort Covington. JEANETTE BUSKEY, 79, of Evergreen Nursing Home, and formerly of Robert S. Long Apartments on Oak Street, died Saturday, Aug. 3, 2002, at the CVPH Medical Center. She was born in Plattsburgh on Jan. 16, 1923, the daughter of Henry and Evangelina (Duvall) Daoust. Calling hours will be held Wednesday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the R.W.
