Published 07/31/02John A. CoolidgeCHAZY — John A. Coolidge, 63, of Lake Shore Road, died July 30, 2002, at his home. He was born Aug. 27, 1938, in Mineola, N.Y., the son of Roy and Catherine (Nolan) Coolidge. John graduated from St. John’s Academy in 1957, and Fordham University in 1961. He owned and operated Coolidge Movers, Inc. John married Nina Duval on May 23, 1964 in St. Patrick’s Church, Chateaugay, N.Y. John was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church and a past member of the Sacred Heart Parish Council. He was a past member of the Vermont Air National Guard, Kent Delord House Board of Trustees, secretary and honorary member of the New York State Movers and Warehousemen’s Association, chairman and honorary trustee exofficio at The Samuel F. Vilas Home. John was also a past board member of the Council on the Arts, St. Anne’s Shrine, Mountain Lake Public Broadcasting and Mental Health Association. He was a member of the Plattsburgh Rotary Club and recipient of the Paul Harris Award, advisory board member of the Adirondack Bank and corporate member at CVPH Medical Center. John was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He enjoyed boating, gardening and spending time with his family. Survivors include his wife, Nina of Chazy; three daughters and sons-in-law, Kimberly and James Rivers of Ledyard, Conn., Christina and Thomas Hampston of Chazy and Jennifer and Jason Langlois of Plattsburgh; one grandson, Nicholas James Rivers. Calling hours will be held Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church in Chazy. Burial will follow in Trombley Bay Cemetery in Chazy. WoroniczMORIAH — John P. Woronicz, 96, of Moriah, died Monday, July 29, 2002, at the Community Hospital in Elizabethtown, N.Y. John was born in Lithuania on June 15, 1906, the son of John and Stephanie Woronicz. He was a self-employed carpenter for most of his life. He also worked as a security guard for the construction of the International Paper Mill in Ticonderoga and the Moriah Central School building. He is survived by his wife, Margaret (Lambert) Woronicz; his stepchildren, Lorraine and Stanley Wojewodzic, Maria and Steven Karkoski, Patricia and Louis Cummiskey, Anthony Comite and John Duane; special granddaughter, Terry and Eugene Ingleston; 11 grandchildren and 13 great -grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Margaret Kelly. Calling hours will be held Thursday, Aug. 1, 2002, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Harland Funeral Home in Port Henry. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday, Aug. 2, 2002, at 10 a.m. at the Church of All Saints in Mineville. Burial will follow in St. Peter and Paul Cemetery in Moriah. Alma VeiviaMOOERS — Alma Veivia, 77, of Mooers, passed away Tuesday, July 30, 2002, at the Cedar Hedge Nursing Home in Rouses Point. She was born Nov. 12, 1924, in Mooers, the daughter of Zepher and Sarah (Barcomb) Rabideau. She worked as the post office clerk in the Mooers Post Office for 36 years. Alma was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Mooers. She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Francis Veivia who passed away in 1981; and three brothers, Roger Rabideau, Giles Rabideau and Vernon Rabideau. She leaves three sisters-in-law, Delores Smith of Florida, Theresa Rabideau of Mooers and Mr. And Mrs. Andrew Mournet of Mooers; several nieces and nephews; and two god children, Giles Rabideau and Karen Trombley. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Clark Funeral Home in Champlain. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph’s Church in Mooers. Burial will follow at St. Edmund’s Cemetery in Ellenburg. Ruth R. CollierLA JUNTA, COLO. — Ruth R. Collier, 69, of La Junta, Colo., and formerly of Port Henry, N.Y., died July 25, 2002, at the Hospice of St. John in Lakewood, Colo. She was born Nov. 15, 1932, to James Monroe and Edith Hodgeman (Foote) Richardson in Montreal, Quebec. She was raised in Port Henry and graduated from Port Henry High School in 1950. Mrs. Collier attended the University of Rochester Nursing School, from which she graduated in 1955. On April 6, 1956, she married Thomas Francis Collier. She worked in the Public Health Department and as a school nurse in Essex County, N.Y., for many years. She was also a member of the Mt. Moriah Presbyterian Church in Port Henry. She moved to La Junta in August of 1991, where she worked as school nurse at La Junta High School for a couple years and worked several more years in the Otero County Health Department. Mrs. Collier was a member of the United Methodist Church in La Junta, participating in the Chancel Choir and Bell Choir. She is survived by daughters, Karen C. (Rory) Gillespie of La Junta and Kathy (David) Vickers of Colorado Springs; brothers, Ned E. (Jean) Richardson of Covelo, Calif., and Monroe (Gloria) Richardson of Kalkaska, Mich.; grandchildren, Nathaniel and Hilah Gillespie of La Junta and Emily and Geoffrey Vickers of Colorado Springs; and stepgranddaughter, Rachel Vickers of Colorado Springs. Mrs. Collier was preceded in death by her parents; and a grandson, Jacob Vickers. A memorial service will take place at the United Methodist Church in La Junta on Thursday, Aug. 1, 2002, at 7 p.m. Pastor Gary Zilm of the United Methodist Church of La Junta and Pastor Claire Zilm of the First United Methodist Church of Las Animas will officiate.
