Cecilia L. Plumley

SARANAC LAKE — Cecilia L. Plumley, 94, died July 27, 2002, at Meadowbrook Healthcare in Plattsburgh, N.Y.

She was born in Alder Brook, N.Y., Oct. 7, 1907, the daughter of Charles and Mary (Daly) Plumley.

She was a graduate of Bloomingdale High School and Plattsburgh Normal School class of 1932.

She earned a bachelor of science degree in 1950 and a master’s of science degree in 1954. She started her teaching career in Franklin County teaching all grades in a one room school. She taught in Mooers, Treadway Mills and Monty St., in Plattsburgh. She retired from the Plattsburgh School system in June of 1975.

She was a member of the New York State Retired Teachers Association and a life member of the Plattsburgh Alumni Association.

She is survived by one sister, Helen Hough of Keeseville, N.Y.; three nieces and their husbands, Patricia and William Brown of Clearwater, Fla., Barbara and Richard Persico of Lake Placid and Sandra and Paul Aery of Saranac Lake; two nephews and their wives, Ronald and Jean Hough of Keeseville, Robert and Linda Hough of Gorham, Maine; and many great-nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday. A Bible vigil will be held at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday. A Mass of Christian burial will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at St. Paul’s Church in Bloomingdale, with Father Timothy Soucy officiating. Interment will follow in St. Paul’s Cemetery, Bloomingdale.

Gladys M. Walker

PLATTSBURGH — Gladys M. Walker died July 24, 2002.

She was born Aug. 30, 1931.

She is survived by her husband, Earl Walker; children, Ann Tatro, Michael Walker, Richard Walker and their spouses; five grandchildren; and loving father, Leo Lavene.

Services were held Saturday, July 27, 2002, at 10 a.m. at Calvary Chapel, 5170 S. Julian Drive.

Reverend Daniel Francis Lyddy

Lowell, Mass. —Reverend Daniel Francis Lyddy, 92, died on Saturday, July 27, 2002, at Southern New Hampshire Medical Center in Nashua, N.H. He bad been a resident at Greenbryer Nursing Home in Nashua.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Church in Lowell, Mass., on Wednesday, July 31, 2002, at 11 a.m. Calling hours will be held at Mahoney’s Funeral Home in Lowell on Tuesday, July 30, 2002, from 3 to 8 p.m. Burial will be at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Lowell. Most Reverend Gerald M. Barbarito, Bishop of Ogdensburg, will celebrate a Memorial Mass for Father Lyddy at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Schroon Lake, N.Y., on Monday, Aug. 12, 2002, at 4 p.m.

Father Lyddy was born in Lowell, Mass., on May 18, 1910, the son of the late Austin and Mary (Finnegan) Lyddy. After receiving his early education at local schools, he graduated from Lowell High School in 1926. Father Lyddy attended Canisius College in Buffalo for one year before entering the novitiate of the Oblates of Mary Immaculate in Tewksbury, Mass. As a professed Oblate of Mary Immaculate, he continued his studies for the priesthood at the Oblate House of Philosophy in Newburgh, N.Y., and at the Oblate Scholasticate in Washington, DC, where he earned an STB degree in 1934. On June 12, 1934, Father Lyddy was ordained to the priesthood at the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, DC by Bishop John J. McNamara, Auxiliary Bishop of Baltimore.

For the next three years, the newly ordained priest taught at the Holy Rosary Scholasticate in Ottawa, Ontario, and at the Oblate Novitiate House of Philosophy in Newburgh. In 1937, Father Lyddy began ministry in the Diocese of Ogdensburg as assistant pastor at St. John Bosco Church in Malone. In 1939, he was incardinated into the Diocese of Ogdensburg.

Father Lyddy then served several parishes in the North Country as assistant pastor: St. Patrick’s in Port Henry, St. Mary’s in Massena, Saint Andrew’s in Norwood, St. Patrick’s in Hogansburg and Notre Dame in Malone. In 1947, Father Lyddy was named administrator and then in 1950 pastor of Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Schroon Lake and the mission church of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary in North Hudson. In 1955, Father Lyddy was appointed pastor of St. James Minor Church in Cadyville, where he served for 13 years until being named pastor of St. Martin’s in Port Leyden and St. John's in Lyons Falls. In 1975, he returned to Schroon Lake as pastor and served there until his retirement from active priestly ministry. He was named pastor emeritus of the parish in 1984.

During his priesthood, Father Lyddy held several diocesan appointments. From 1974 to 1977 he served as Diocesan Consultor and Dean of Lewis Deanery. Father also served as a representative to the Senate of Priests. In addition, Father served as Dean of Essex Deanery from 1980 until his retirement.

Survivors include five nieces and nephews; Austin Lyddy III of Port Charlotte, Fla., Patricia Nichols of Lowell, Robert D. Lyddy of Nashua, Cheryl E. Stafford-Rogers of Hudson, N.H., and Denise M. Lyddy of Nashua; and many grandnieces, grandnephews; and great - grandnieces and great - grandnephews. Father Lyddy was also the brother of the late Austin A. Lyddy, Jr., and a sister, Mary Rita.

ELIZABETH M. YANDO, 89, of Barbara Street, Malone, N.Y., died early Monday morning, July 29, 2002, at the Alice Hyde Medical Center, in Malone. She had been a patient there since July 26, 2002.

She was born in Malone on March 4, 1913, the daughter of the late Lawrence and Mabel (Steenberge) Monaghan.

Calling hours will be Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Bruso-Desnoyers Funeral Home in Malone. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Notre Dame Church in Malone. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery on the Lake Titus Road in Malone.

KENNETH W. STEWART, 86, of 115th Avenue, North Largo, Fla., and formerly of Fort Covington, N.Y., died Wednesday, July 24, 2002, at the Largo Medical Center in Largo, Fla.

He was born in Westville, N.Y., Aug. 7, 1915, the son of the late John and Dora Hollister Stewart.

There are no calling hours. Funeral services will be announced at a later date.

Arrangements are through the Cappiello-Mckenzie and Cosgrove Funeral Home in Fort Covington.

FRANCIS MILLER, 83, of Greenpoint, Columbia County, died Sunday, July 28, 2002, at the home of his daughter in Keeseville.

He was born July 4, 1919, in Hudson, the son of the late Herbert and Eva (Moore) Miller.

Calling hours will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday at Bates & Anderson Funeral Home, 110 Green St., Hudson. Services will be conducted at 9 a.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Cedar Park Cemetery in Hudson.

RITA M. BEAUDIN, 81, of Center Street, Fort Covington, N.Y., died unexpectedly Saturday, July 27, 2002, at her home.

She was born in Bombay, N.Y., the daughter of the late James and Grace (Charette) Collette Jr.

Calling hours will be Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Cappiello-McKenzie and Cosgrove Funeral Home in Fort Covington. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church in Fort Covington, with the Rev. Kris Lauzon officiating. Burial will be in the old St. Mary’s Cemetery.

ROBERT F. "DYNAMITE" KINGSTON, 69, Cascade Rd., Lake Placid, died suddenly July 28, 2002, at the Adirondack Medical Center in Lake Placid.

He was born in Saranac Lake on Oct. 5, 1932, the son of George and Mildred (Charland) Kingston.

Friends may call at the Clark Funeral Home Tuesday, July 30, 2002, from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. An American Legion prayer service will be held Tuesday evening at the funeral home at 7:30. Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning at 10 a.m. at the Clark Funeral Home. Father Michael Gaffney, pastor of St. Agnes Church, will officiate. Cremation will follow. A graveside service will be held Saturday morning at 10 a.m. at St. Agnes Cemetery in Lake Placid. Rev. Patrick O’Reilly will officiate
