Published 07/21/02Halsey J. SeguinSaranac Lake, N.Y. — Halsey J. Seguin, 88, of Charles Street in Saranac Lake, died Friday, July 19, 2002, at the Adirondack Medical Center at Saranac Lake. He was born in AuSable Forks, N.Y., on March 13, 1914, the son of Joseph and Edith (Miner) Seguin. Mr. Seguin was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army. He was a charter member and past commander of AuSable Forks Veterans of Foreign Wars and first commander of Champlain Counties Council VFW and also a member of the Albert Gonyea VFW Post 3357 of Saranac Lake. He had been employed by the Grand Union Company for 46 years, retiring as manager in Saranac Lake on March 1, 1976. He was a member and past Grand Knight of the AuSable Forks Knights of Columbus. He was a member of the third and fourth degree Knights of Columbus in Saranac Lake, Bishop Gabriels Assembly, where he was Faithful Navigator and Captain of the Honor Guard. He was a communicant of St. Bernard's Church in Saranac Lake and a member of the parish council, head usher, Eucharistic Minister and a volunteer on the Bishop's Fund Drive. He was also a member of the Saranac Lake Adult Center. He married the former Elizabeth Currier on Dec. 2, 1933. She died March 27, 1995. He is survived by a brother, William Seguin of Utica, N.Y.; three sisters, Marion Seguin Darrah of AuSable Forks, N.Y., Elizabeth Rosio of Plattsburgh, N.Y., and Rita Hibbits of Louisiana; several nieces and nephews; and his goddaughter, Susan Crowningshield of Port Kent, N.Y. He was preceded in death by a brother, Albert Seguin and a sister, Ruth Wolack. Visitation will be at Fortune-Keough Funeral Home, Inc., on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. with a Knights of Columbus Honor Guard. A veteran’s service will take place Tuesday at 7:45 p.m. followed by a Bible vigil at 8 p.m. with the Knights of Columbus in attendance. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:15 a.m. Wednesday at St. Bernard’s Church, with Rev. Timothy Soucy, pastor, officiating. A Knights of Columbus Honor Guard will form at the church. Burial will follow at Holy Name Cemetery in AuSable Forks. Friends wishing to remember Mr. Seguin may make memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society. Gary GarrowPlattsburgh, N.Y. — Gary Garrow, 57, died Thursday, July 18, 2002. He was born in Plattsburgh on May 18, 1945, the son of Edward and Bea (Goddeau) Garrow. Mr. Garrow was a graduate of Beekmantown Central School. He served in the U.S. Navy and was employed by Ed Garrow and Sons Inc. He is survived by his parents of Morrisonville; one daughter, Tiarra of Morrisonville; three brothers, Ron Garrow and his companion Claire Cutaire of Plattsburgh, Larry and Toni Garrow of Plattsburgh and Edward Garrow and his companion Michelle Bushey of Morrisonville; two sisters, Holly and her husband John McQuinn of Plattsburgh and Lisa Wise of Morrisonville; and four nephews, Ronald "Buster" Garrow of Plattsburgh, Will Garrow of Washington, D.C., Kenzie LaMar of San Diego, Calif., and Justin Wise of Morrisonville. He was predeceased by a nephew, Thomas Garrow, on July 17, 2000. There will be no calling hours. Funeral arrangements are private. Michael Christopher Simond, 18, of Route 22B, Plattsburgh, died Saturday, July 20, 2002, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh as a result of an automobile accident. Arrangements are incomplete with the Hamilton Funeral Home in Peru. Donald J. Lucia, 80, of Meadowbrook Nursing Home in Plattsburgh and formerly of Redford, died Saturday, July 20, 2002, at the nursing home. He was born in Chazy, N.Y., on Sept. 19, 1921, the son of Henry and Phoebe (Ackey) Lucia. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced at a later date by the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. Lyonette "Lee" LaBarge, 91, of Mooers Forks, died Friday, July 19, 2002, at her residence. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the E.F. Drown Funeral Service in Mooers. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Wednesday morning from St. Ann's Church in Mooers Forks with burial following in the parish cemetery. Buchanan — A memorial service and social hour will be held on Saturday, July 27th at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, 4 Palmer St., from 3 to 6 p.m. for former Plattsburgh resident, Jeanne Zigmund Buchanan, who died Feb. 24, 2002, at her home in Rochester Hills, Mich.
