Robert H. Head

Binghamton — Robert H. Head, 21, of Binghamton left us Sunday, July 14, 2002.

He was predeceased by his grandfather, Robert N. Head; and a cousin Zachary Kaczynski.

He is survived by his father, Wayne "Skip" Head, Glen Aubrey; his mother, Kelley VeVita; and a sister, Tina Head, both of Plattsburgh, N.Y.; his grandparents, Joan Head, Helen Wildman and Philip DeVita; also several aunts; uncles; and cousins.

Memorial Services will be held Thursday at 7 p.m. from the Allen Memorial Home, 511 - 513 East Main Street, Endicott. Burial will be in Floral Park Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at the Allen Memorial Home Thursday from 6 p.m. until service time at 7 p.m.

Expressions of sympathy in his memory may be made to the local ambulance or fire department of Schroon Lake, Schroon Lake, NY 12870

James R. Allen

MINEVILLE, N.Y. — James R. Allen, 61, of Main Street, Mineville, died Tuesday, July 16, 2002, at his home.

He was born in Mineville, N.Y., on March 4, 1941, the son of Wesley and Viola (Merrill) Allen.

He was retired with the rank of Sargent from the NYS Department of Correction having worked at the Moriah Shock Incarceration Facility.

He enjoyed camping and fishing.

He is survived by his daughter, Tammy Marie Allen and Michael O’leary of Ulster Park, N.Y.; his mother, Viola Allen of Mineville; two sisters, Phyllis and Marvin James of Mineville and Grace and Bruce Lamb of Mineville; two brothers, David and Adell Allen of Witherbee and Gary and Rose Allen of Mineville; two sisters-in-law, Patricia Allen of Mineville and Shirley Allen of Mineville; his companion, Mary DePew; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his father, Wesley Allen; two brothers, Wesley "Pete" Allen and Harold "Chuck" Allen.

Calling hours will be held Thursday, July 18, 2002, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Harland Funeral Home, Port Henry. Funeral services will be conducted Friday July 19, 2002, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the South Moriah Cemetery, Moriah, N.Y.

Sister Rita LaPoint

GARRISON, N.Y. — Sister Rita LaPoint, SA (Rosemary La Point) a Franciscan Sister of the Atonement, died July 17, 2002, She was 78 years old.

Sister Rita was born on Feb. 9, 1924, in Potsdam, N.Y., to William Earl La Point and Blanche Monica.

In 1940, Sister joined the Franciscan Sisters of the Atonement at Garrison, N.Y. In 1941 she professed her first vows and received her final vows In 1947. As an Atonement Missionary she ministered in various houses of the Congregation in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Colorado, Utah, California, Oregon and at the Graymoor Motherhouse in Garrison, N.Y.

Sister is survived by four sisters, Mrs. Frieda Wells, Mrs. Barbara Julianna, Mrs. Dorothy Teclaw and Mrs. Judith Hinman; and predeceased by her parents; four brothers, Gerald, Roswell, Alan, and Sidney; and five sisters, Mrs. Carmon Todd, Mrs. Arlene Hinman, Mrs. Geraldine Powell, Mrs. Theresa Miles and Mrs. Mary Rita Walcott.

A wake service will be held in the Motherhouse Chapel, Graymoor, on Thursday, July 18, 2002, at 7 p.m. The Liturgy of Christian burial will be held in the Motherhouse Chapel on Friday, July 19, 2002, at 11 a.m. Burial will be in the Sisters' Cemetery at Graymoor.

Louise Farrell

Mountain View, Calif. — Louise Farrell, 87, of Mountain View, Calif., daughter of Lewis and Isabel Masterson of Port Henry, N.Y.

She was born in Port Henry, N.Y. on April 14, 1915, and died July 10, 2002.

She is survived by her husband, Edward Farrell; a son, James Farrell; a daughter, Lois Steiner; grandsons, Dylan and Ryan Farrell; and Great Grandson, Sammy Farrell. Also surviving are sisters, Ann Makool, of Oregon, Wis., and Lois Block of Terra Linda, Calif.; and brothers, L. Allen Masterson of Moriah, N.Y., and Charles Masterson of Port Henry, N.Y.

She was predecease by brother, William; and sisters, Ruth, Sarah and Gertrude.

She was a graduate of Port Henry High School and Valedictorian of Class of 1933.

WALTER KELLY, 86, a resident of the Essex County ARC Home, Ferry Road, Crown Point, N.Y., died Tuesday, July 16, 2002, at the home.

Walter was born on June 13, 1916.

Calling hours will be held Friday July 18, 2002, from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Harland Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. from the funeral home. Burial will be in the Union Cemetery, Moriah, N.Y.

GILL — A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on July 20, 2002, at the Adirondack Community Church in Lake Placid for Kenneth Gill who died April 16, 2002, in Baltimore, Md. A reception will follow at Holiday Inn.
