Published 07/06/02Hope Marie ManningTiconderoga — Hope Marie Manning, 35, of Cossey Street, passed away Thursday, July 4, 2002, at the Glens Falls Hospital after fighting a long and courageous battle with diabetes. She was born in Ticonderoga on April 23, 1967, the daughter of Grant and Mary (Alteri) Manning of Ticonderoga. Hope was a lifelong resident of Ticonderoga. She was a graduate of Ticonderoga High School, Class of 1986 and attended North Country Community College. She was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Cross of Ticonderoga. Hope was a sports enthusiast. She was involved with Ticonderoga Girls Basketball and Softball as manager and scorekeeper. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, bingo and caring for children in her spare time. Survivors in addition to her parents include three brothers, Michael C. Manning and his wife Deborah of Hague, Grant (Buzzy) Manning Jr. and his companion Candy Woodin of Ticonderoga and Gary Manning and his wife Shellie of Saranac Lake; four sisters, Mary Lou Brown and her husband Mickey of South Glens Falls, Sandra LaFountain and her husband Eugene "Buddy" of Hudson Falls, Kathy Robb and her husband Lee of Hudson Falls and Cynthia Manning and her fiancé Bob Sellingham of Schroon Lake. She is also survived by several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends may call Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Wilcox & Regan Funeral Home, 11 Algonkin St., Ticonderoga. A funeral service will take place Monday at 11 a.m. at the Episcopal Church of the Cross of Ticonderoga. The Rev. Majorie J. Floor, rector, will officiate. The active pallbearers will be Larry Gaulin, Jeff Gaulin, Joseph Trzaskos, Lee Robb Jr., Michael Manning Jr., Todd Manning and Bill Joe Manning. Interment will take place at the family plot of the Mt. Hope Cemetery of Ticonderoga. Anthony, 67, died Thursday, July 4, 2002, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh. He was born in Rouses Point on Feb. 20, 1935, the son of Herman and Mildred (Aubrey) Anthony. Robert was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1957 to 1962. He was employed at the D&H Railroad as a car man and supervisor from 1953 to 1984. He was a member of the American Legion Post 912 and St. Patrick's Church. He enjoyed doing auto body repair and doing craft works. He also enjoyed his winter trips to Phoenix, Ariz. Robert is survived by his wife of 43 years, Marie (Campbell) Anthony, whom he married Oct. 11, 1958; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Randy Anthony of Plattsburgh, Scott and Michelle Anthony of Rouses Point, Arthur and Rhonda Anthony of Franklin, Vt.; four daughters and sons-in-law, Cathy and Sheridan (Ted) Tedford, Robin and Larry Manor and Barbara and Garry Manor, all of Champlain and Gail and Brad Martin of Rouses Point; nine grandchildren, Melissa Anthony, Teddy and Jennifer Tedford, Cory and Erica Ballantine, Timothy and Eric Manor, Dustin Manor and Ashley Martin; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Patrick and Patricia Tardif of Phoenix, Ariz., and Sandra Falkner of Phoenix, Ariz.; several sisters and brothers-in-law; and nieces and nephews. His parents and his mother and father-in-law died earlier. There will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday from St. Patrick's Church in Rouses Point. ShermanWestport — George W. Sherman of Westport passed away during the night on the 4th of July, 2002. He was 86. Born in 1916, the son of Thomas and Ida Sherman, he was a 1939 graduate of Clarkson College. Mr. Sherman was an electrical engineer and project manager for the State of New York, living in Albany until his retirement in 1976. A World War II U.S. Army veteran, he served in Australia in 1942. He became a staff sergeant and in the fall of 1942 was commissioned to second lieutenant and assigned to the 46th Engineer Service Regiment in New Guinea and the Philippines. He returned from overseas active duty in July, 1945 with the rank of first lieutenant. An avid golfer, he was an active member of the Westport Federated Church. He is predeceased by his wife, the former Eleanor Davies of Clinton, N.Y.; a brother, Richard M. Sherman of Westport and a sister, Ellen Beauvais of Plattsburgh. He is survived by scores of nieces and nephews across three generations as well as a daughter, Peggy, of Westport and a son, George Jr. of Plattsburgh. There are no calling hours and a family graveside service is planned for Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Riverside Cemetery in Wadhams. Brelia, 95, of Keeler Drive in Albany, died July 3, 2002, following a long illness. Mrs. Brelia was born in Forest, Clinton County, on July 27, 1906, the daughter of William and Mabel (Reynolds) Willett. She had two brothers, Kenneth Willett and Ellsworth Willett, who predeceased her and a sister, Mary W. Averill of Ormond Beach, Fla., who survives. She graduated from Ellenburg Depot High School in 1925. Mrs. Brelia was the widow of Clarence E. Brelia. Before coming to Albany, where she resided for more than 60 years, Mrs. Brelia lived in Clinton County, N.Y., Vermont, New Jersey, Poughkeepsie, N.Y., and New York City. Early in her career, she was a fashion consultant in women's clothing stores; later, she was employed as a senior clerk by the New York State Conservation Department. She retired from state service in 1971. Mrs. Brelia enjoyed reading and learning about antiques, particularly dishes and for many years assisted her brother, Ellsworth Willett, in his antique business. She especially enjoyed interior decoration. Mrs. Brelia was a longtime member of St. Catherine of Siena parish, which she joined in 1961. Mrs. Brelia's family spanned five generations. In addition to her sister, she is survived by her son, Arthur K. Brelia, M.D., of Gloversville, N.Y.; three grandchildren, Karen Brelia Corcoran of New Milford, Conn., Kristine Brelia Smith of Duanesburg, N.Y., and Keith A. Brelia of Pocatello, Idaho; three great-grandchildren, Kelly Smith Sturman of Ithaca, N.Y., Richard J. Corcoran IV of Baltimore, Md., and Brian A. Corcoran of Boston, Mass.; and two great-great-grandchildren, Caleb J. Sturman and Amelia J. Sturman of Ithaca, along with nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, July 8th, at 10 a.m. at St. Catherine of Siena Church, Albany. Interment will be in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Colonie. There will be no visiting hours. Arrangements are with the Hans Funeral Home in Albany. Judith M. Lord, 54, of County Route 4, Bombay, N.Y., and formerly of Maple Leaf Lane, Brushton, N.Y., died July 3, 2002, at the home of her sister, Sheila Williams of Bombay, while under the loving care of her family and Hospice of the North Country. She was born in Malone on June 21, 1948, the daughter of the late Chester and Lorraine (Rousseau) Wares Sr. Calling hours will be Monday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Bruso-Desnoyers Funeral Home in Malone. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. at St. John Bosco Cemetery in Malone. |
