Published 7/3/02John Thomas Metcalfe IIIPLATTSBURGH — John Thomas Metcalfe III, 53, of Runway Drive, died Monday, July 1, 2002, at his mother's home in Cadyville. He was born in Plattsburgh on April 13, 1949, the son of John and Winifred (Bates) Metcalfe II. John married the former Tammy Jean Stampfler in 1991. Mr. Metcalfe was a member of the American Legion, Post 20. John was a graduate of Saranac Central High School in 1968. He served with the U.S. Marine Corp from 1968 to 1972, serving in Vietnam for two years. He worked at Clinton Correctional Facility in Dannemora as a correction officer for 28 years until retiring in 1996. Survivors include his wife, Tammy Jean Metcalfe of Plattsburgh; his parents, Lawrence and Winifred Darrah of Cadyville; two sons, Jason Michael Metcalfe and Justin James Metcalfe, both of Peru; three daughters, Erin Leigh Metcalfe of Quantico, Va., Lacey Lynn Metcalfe and Mindy Lynn Metcalfe, both of Peru; five sisters, Donna and Fred Wimer of Jamestown, Pa., Sharron and Bill McImoil of LaMirada, Calif., Kathleen Metcalfe of Plattsburgh, Jo Myers of Cheyenne, Wyo., and Nancy Metcalfe of Gulfport, Fla.; three grandchildren, Zacharie Uriah Metcalfe, Christian Michael Metcalfe and Bailey Jude Squier; and several nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by his father, John T. Metcalfe II in 1962 and one brother, Charles "Ted" Metcalfe in 2000. Calling hours will be held Wednesday from 6 to 7 p.m. at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. Funeral services will follow with Rev. Floyd J. Bleaux officiating. There will be a reception following the funeral services at the American Legion Post 1619 in West Plattsburgh. Mabel M. RushfordAltona — Mabel M. Rushford, 94, died Monday, July 1, 2002, at the Evergreen Valley Nursing Home in Plattsburgh. She was born in Altona on Feb. 8, 1908, the daughter of Joseph and Louise (Demarais) Rushford. She was employed at Tru-Stitch in Malone for many years. She resided most of her life with her nephew Harlan and Susan Hebert and her great-nephew Nevin Hebert. She is survived by a sister, Edwina Smart of Jericho, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews. Two brothers, William and Stanley Rushford and two sisters, Edith Hebert and Delsie Nephew, died earlier. There will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday from Holy Angels Church in Altona. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. The E.F. Drown Funeral Service in Ellenburg Depot is in charge of arrangements. Leland GarlockChamplain — Leland Garlock, 80, of Champlain, passed away Monday, July 1, 2002, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on Oct. 23, 1922, in Fort Plain, N.Y., the son of Howard and Florence (Cole) Garlock. Leland was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Champlain. He was predeceased by one daughter, Karen Smith. Survivors include his wife, Shirley (Slingerland) Garlock, whom he married June 20, 1946; five sons, James of Champlain, Bruce of Johnstown, N.Y., Kevin and Tammy of Altona, Roger and Laurie of Ellenburg and Duane and Sharon of Fort Plain; eight daughters, Linda and John Thornhill of Winsboro, La., Denise Forkey of Rouses Point, Nancy and Steven Smith of Little Falls, N.Y., Dawn and Gordon Buley of Fort Plain, Wendy and Jere lacobucci of Augusta, Ga., Serena and Keith Van Nostrand of Gloversville, N.Y., Kalee Davis of Averill Park, N.Y., and Anita and Joseph LaPan of Champlain; 33 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. Calling hours will be Thursday, July 4, 2002, at the Clark Funeral Home in Champlain from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday at the Clark Funeral Home Chapel. Dora M. GlaudeChamplain — Dora M. Glaude, 91, of Champlain, passed away Sunday, June 30, 2002, at Meadowbrook Nursing Home. She was born in Mooers on Aug. 1, 1910, the daughter of John and Delia (Mesick) Belrose. She was predeceased by her husband Frank, who passed away June 9, 1958; seven brothers, John, Abraham, Adolph, Jerome, Albert, Rolland and Joseph; and four sisters, Bertha Mesec, Della Matott, Harriett Favreau and Madeline Burl. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Henry and Andrea Hayward of Troy, N.Y., and Leon and Marie Dupee of Champlain; two sisters, Marie Flora Tromblay of Champlain and Mary Matott of Plattsburgh; seven grandchildren, Lee Dupee, Neil Dupee, Julie Frennier, Tami Richer, Randy Hayward, Karen O’Melia and Kevin Hayward. She is also survived by 10 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Dora was well known for her handmade woven rugs, jewelry and crafts. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Clark Funeral Home in Champlain. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Thursday, July 4, 2002, at 11 a.m. from St. Mary's Church in Champlain. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dora's memory to the Champlain Fire Department or St. Mary's Church. Lawrence J. PellerinRedford — Lawrence J. Pellerin, 74, died Sunday, June 30, 2002, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh. He was born in Redford on Jan. 3, 1928, the son of Adlor and Evelyn (LaWare) Pellerin. He was employed as an operating engineer and retired from Local 106 in 1990 after 36 years of service. He served in the U.S. Army from 1946 to 1949 and was a member of American Legion Post 1618 in Saranac. He was a member of the Church of the Assumption in Redford. He is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Lawrence A. and Eva Pellerin of Saranac, Richard L. and Deborah Pellerin of Redford and Robert J. and Deborah Pellerin of Saranac Lake; three daughters and a son-in-law, Kathryn Pellerin and her companion Harvey Gauthier of Redford, Tina M. Pellerin and her companion Lucinda Crespo of Schuyler Falls and Nancy A. and Kyle Roberts of Saranac; three stepsons and daughters-in-law, Harold L. and Doris DuBray of Haines City, Fla., Roger and Diana DuBray of Plattsburgh and Ronald and Debbie DuBray of Plattsburgh; a brother and sister-in-law, Adlor and Jeannette Pellerin of Redford; two sisters, Dora Terry of Cadyville and Agnes Paige of Troy; 15 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. His first wife, Genevieve (Newell) Pellerin, died in 1983. His second wife, Elizabeth (Newell) Dubray Pellerin, died in 1991. Two brothers and four sisters also died earlier. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday from the Church of the Assumption in Redford. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Saranac Rescue Squad. Duffy — A memorial service for the family and friends of Gerald J. Duffy, who died March 19, 2002 in Wellesley, Mass., and his son Kevin S. Duffy, who died Dec. 27, 2001, in Naples, Fla., will be held on Friday, July 5, 2002, at noon at St. John’s Church in Plattsburgh. Private interment at Mt. Carmel Cemetery will follow.
