Published 6/24/02Howard E. FrenyaPLATTSBURGH — Howard E. Frenya, 87, of Evergreen Valley Nursing Home, passed away on Saturday, June 22, 2002, at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh. He was born in Rouses Point on June 8, 1915, son of James and Theresa (Young) Frenya. He was married to Hilda Anne Brushnefski on May 28, 1955, in Chazy. Anne died April 28, 1970. Howard attended a one-room school in Rouses Point. He delivered lumber for a Canadian concern before working for the Delaware & Hudson Railroad in Rouses Point. He served during World War II, entering the Army on May 5, 1942. Howard was a locomotive mechanic assigned to the 720th Railway Operations Battalion serving in Bavaria, Germany and Luxembourg. While serving in the Army, Howard earned the following medals: American Service Medal, European African Middle Eastern Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and World War II Victory Medal. Howard was honorably discharged at the rank of sergeant at Fort Dix, N.J., on March 3, 1946. After returning to Rouses Point, he resumed working for the Delaware & Hudson Railroad on his beloved steam locomotives. In addition to the D&H, Howard worked for the New York State Department of Corrections, The Miner Institute in Chazy and Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital in Plattsburgh, before working 19 years as a garage-door installer for Overhead Door Co. in Plattsburgh. He retired in August 1987. Howard was also a member of the American Legion Post 20 in Plattsburgh. He enjoyed reading, puzzles and was an avid listener to country and western music on radio station 98.9 WOKO. Survivors include three sons and two daughters-in-law, James and Carrie Frenya of Morrisonville, Howard and Wanda Frenya of Williamstown, Pa., and Donald Frenya of Plattsburgh; one brother, Douglas, and four sisters, Myrtle, Irene, Genevieve and Barbara; three grandchildren, Adam Frenya, Ryan Frenya and Thomas Frenya. Howard was predeceased by his parents. At his request, there will be no viewing or funeral. After cremation, interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Chazy. Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Monday, July 1. Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh is in charge of arrangements. Donations in his memory may be made to Clinton County Alzheimer’s Association. Robert Loyal SeneyMorrisonville — Robert Loyal Seney, 26, of Ros Bo Lane, passed away Thursday, June 20, 2002, at the Adirondack Medical Center as a result of a motorcycle accident. He was born in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., on Dec. 2, 1975, the son of Robert M. and Lorraine (Carter) Seney. Robert was a graduate of Northern Adirondack Central in 1995. He was on the wrestling team at NAC and enjoyed weightlifting and motorcycle riding. Robert was a correction officer at Green Haven Correctional Facility. Robert was an avid Oakland Raiders fan. He married Jill Allen on Jan. 20, 2001. He is survived by his wife Jill (Allen) Seney and their unborn child of Morrisonville; his parents, Robert M. and Lorraine Seney of Chazy Lake; two stepchildren, Shawn Duquette and Travis Duquette at home; his mother-in-law, Ruth Allen and her companion Allan Pearsall of Morrisonville; a sister Kerri and her husband Bill Paige of Mooers Forks; his maternal grandmother, Theresa Carter of Ellenburg Center; his maternal grandfather, Loyal Carter and his wife Noelia of Malone, N.Y.; one niece, Amanda Paige of Mooers Forks; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his grandparents, Robert and Verna Seney. Calling hours will be Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 11 a.m. at St. Alexander’s Church in Morrisonville. Interment will follow in St. Alexander’s Cemetery. |
