Published 06/14/02Eleanor Marie "Elly" BordeauPlattsburgh — Mrs. Eleanor Marie "Elly" Bordeau, 77, of Beekman Street, died Wednesday, June 12, 2002, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Plattsburgh on March 19, 1925, daughter of the late Frederick and Ora (Bell) Durocher. She was an avid golfer and past president of the Ladies Golf Association at Bluff Point, past president of the Woman’s Bowling League and active in the Home Bureau. Eleanor enjoyed senior aerobics and swimming. She volunteered at the Eye Care of the Adirondacks and at CVPH Medical Center. She enjoyed many hobbies especially playing the guitar, singing, and crocheting. Eleanor was instrumental in creating afghans for family and grandchildren, most recently donating one to the Linus Project, an organization for underprivileged children. She also enjoyed many other arts and crafts. In early years of her marriage she worked at the Northern New York Grocery and in later years she enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s’ school and sporting events. Eleanor was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great- grandmother. Eleanor is survived by her husband, Stanley Edward Bordeau, whom she married Sept. 22, 1945, at Our Lady of Victory Church in Plattsburgh; four sons and three daughters-in-law, Russell and Ann Bordeau of Plattsburgh, Randall Bordeau of Plattsburgh, Richard and Nancy Bordeau of Plattsburgh, and Ronald and Cathy Bordeau of Plattsburgh; one daughter and a son-in-law, Brenda and John Stockman of Plattsburgh; one brother and a sister-in-law, Eugene and Mary Durocher of Plattsburgh; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Edward (Mary) Durocher; two sisters and two brothers-in-law, Agnes and James Gratto of Cadyville and Kathleen and Wayne Guay of Plattsburgh; an aunt, Alice Renadette; eleven grandchildren, Michael Bordeau, Dr. Kevin Bordeau, Maggie Bordeau, Angie Stockman, Emily Stockman, Lenora Bordeau, Beth Bordeau, Kara Bordeau, Sarah Bordeau, Claire Stockman and Savannah Bordeau; her precious great - grandchildren, Domenick and Nathaniel Bordeau. She is also survived by a daughter-in-law, Susan Bordeau of Plattsburgh. She is predeceased by one son, Roger Bordeau; one sister, Anita Durocher Bordeau and her husband, Leonard; and one brother, Edward Durocher. Donations in her memory may be made to be made to the Hospice of the North Country. Earl C. VannPlattsburgh — Earl C. Vann, 85, of Bradford Road, passed away on Thursday, June 13, 2002, at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh. He was born in Riverview on Oct. 27, 1916, son of Thomas and Albina (LaWare) Vann. Earl attended a one room school house on Shingle Street, he had worked on the family farm and he had been employed as a security guard in Alcoa Aluminum Plant. He then joined the U.S. Army and was veteran of World War II. Earl had worked as a lumberjack and mechanic. He was employed by New York State Department of Transportation, where he retired in 1978. Earl was an avid hunter and fisherman. He belonged to St. Alexander’s Church in Morrisonville, a member of the American Legion 1619 in West Plattsburgh and a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association. He was an avid reader and repaired antique clocks. Earl was a well known dowser for water. Earl is survived by his wife of 64 years, Rita Dora (Sorrell) Vann of Plattsburgh; a son and daughter-in-law, Marvin and Mary Vann of Plattsburgh; one daughter, Shirley Tennant of Plattsburgh; a brother and sister-in-law, James and Elaine Vann of Morrisonville; a sister, Hazel Rabideau of Cadyville; three grandchildren, Timothy and Keiko Vann of Pennfield, Thomas Vann and companion, Krystal of Plattsburgh and Tyler Vann of Goldsboro, N.C.; two great - grandchildren, Jason and Hana; and several nieces and nephews. Earl was predeceased by a brother, Donald Vann; and two sisters, Mildred LaMar and Winifred Vann. LaBarge, 79, of Therrien Road, died Wednesday, June 12, 2002, at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh. She was born in Altona on Aug. 10, 1922, daughter of William and Emma (Charland) Gebo. Leah had attended a one room school in Altona. She loved carpentry and electrical work. Leah is survived by her husband of 59 years, Alden J. LaBarge of Ellenburg Depot, they were married in Holy Angel’s Church in Altona on Jan. 19, 1943; six sons and five daughters-in-law, David and Wanda LaBarge of Altona, Clarence and Arlene LaBarge of Champlain, John and Gloria LaBarge of Schuyler Falls, Elvis and Brenda Kay of Plattsburgh, Bob and Christine LaBarge of Mooers and Joseph LaBarge of Ellenburg Depot; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Theresa and Daniel Bohn of Bristol, Conn., Bertha and Paul Desautel of Tampa, Fla., and Betty Jean LaBarge of Redford; 22 grandchildren; 17 great - grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. VradenburgTiconderoga — Elizabeth P. Vradenburg, 85, of Black Point Road in Ticonderoga, died suddenly on Wednesday, June 12, 2002, at the Moses Ludington Hospital in Ticonderoga. She was born in Shoreham, Vt., on Aug. 30, 1916, the daughter of Edward J. and Julie (LaMarque) Desjadon. She worked in the Ticonderoga High School Cafeteria for over 14 years. She was a life member of Ticonderoga Ladies Fireman’s Auxiliary and a life member of the Ticonderoga American Legion Post 224. She was a former member of Ladies of the Elks. She enjoyed her flea markets and both crocheting and embroidery. She is survived by five sons, Edward Vradenburg of Ticonderoga, Thomas Vradenburg of Ticonderoga, Frederick Vradenburg of Massachusetts, Donald Vradenburg of Ticonderoga and William Vradenburg of Arkansas; four daughters, Elizabeth "Betty" Mason, Mary Gonyo, Patricia Blowers and M. Jane Wright all of Ticonderoga; 24 grandchildren; 45 great - grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she is predeceased by her husband, Louis Vradenburg; and one daughter, Marion "Peanut" Messier who died on June 3, 2002. Carter, 54, of Oak Street, died Thursday, June 13, 2002, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh. She was born in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, on Feb. 7, 1948, daughter of Michael and Rosella (Ferguson) Massey.
