Published 06/13/02Valerie L. GinettClintonville — Valerie L. Ginett, 82, of Route 9N, Clintonville, died Wednesday, June 12, 2002, at the Clinton County Nursing Home. She was born in Schuyler Falls, Aug. 23, 1919, the daughter of Abraham and Ida (Rivers) LaMar. She was a graduate of Cadyville Union School, and Plattsburgh State, where she obtained bachelors and masters degrees. Valerie started her teaching career in a one-room schoolhouse. She also taught in a two room, and a four room when she was principal. She taught first grade at Peru Central, and spent 35 years teaching kindergarten at Keeseville. Valerie was very active in school affairs. She served as secretary and president of the teachers association, served two terms as delegate to the state teachers association and served on several state committees. She was president of the PTA and had the honor of cutting the ribbon to open the new Keeseville Elementary School. Valerie has also taken part in many community affairs including chairwoman of the Bicentennial Committee, President of the Altar Rosary, member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas-past Grand Regent and State Representative, President of the Knights of Columbus Auxiliary and served as a Eucharistic Minister. She was one of the first women members of the Keeseville Kiwanis Club and served as president and secretary, taught religious education and served on the Religious Education Committee and the AuSable Valley Sports Booster Club. Survivors include her husband, whom she married Jan. 21, 1943, at St. Peter’s Church in Plattsburgh, Leslie W. Ginett of Plattsburgh; one daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Charles Crowningshield of Port Kent; one brother and sister-in-law, Leo and Phoebe LaMar of Peru; two sisters, Hazel Rabideau of Cadyville and Gertrude LaMar of Peru; one brother-in-law and his wife, Charles and Agnes Ginnett of Selkirk; and two very special honorary grandchildren, Meghan and Tiffany. She was predeceased by two brothers, Leonard LaMar and Arthur LaMar; and three sisters, Laura Taylor, Cecelia LaMar and Ruth Ann LaMar. Calling hours will be held Friday, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Keeseville. Members of the Altar Rosary Society will meet at the funeral home at 2 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Church in Keeseville, with Rev. Garvin Demarais, pastor, celebrating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Donations in her memory may be made to the St. John’s Church Capital Improvement Fund. Marie "Elly" BordeauPlattsburgh — Mrs. Eleanor Marie "Elly" Bordeau, 77, of Beekman Street, died Wednesday, June 12, 2002, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Plattsburgh on March 19, 1925, daughter of the late Frederick and Ora (Bell) Durocher. She was an avid golfer and past president of the Ladies Golf Association at Bluff Point, past president of the Woman’s Bowling League and active in the Home Bureau. Eleanor enjoyed senior aerobics and swimming. She volunteered at the Eye Care of the Adirondacks and at CVPH Medical Center. She enjoyed many hobbies especially playing the guitar, singing, and crocheting. Eleanor was instrumental in creating afghans for family and grandchildren, most recently donating one to the Linus Project, an organization for underprivileged children. She also enjoyed many other arts and crafts. In early years of her marriage she worked at the Northern New York Grocery and in later years she enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s’ school and sporting events. Eleanor was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great- grandmother. Eleanor is survived by her husband, Stanley Edward Bordeau, whom she married Sept. 22, 1945, at Our Lady of Victory Church in Plattsburgh; four sons and three daughters-in-law, Russell and Ann Bordeau of Plattsburgh, Randall Bordeau of Plattsburgh, Richard and Nancy Bordeau of Plattsburgh, and Ronald and Cathy Bordeau of Plattsburgh; one daughter and a son-in-law, Brenda and John Stockman of Plattsburgh; one brother and a sister-in-law, Eugene and Mary Durocher of Plattsburgh; two sisters and two brothers-in-law, Agnes and James Gratto of Cadyville and Kathleen and Wayne Guay of Plattsburgh; eleven grandchildren, Michael Bordeau, Dr. Kevin Bordeau, Maggie Bordeau, Angie Stockman, Emily Stockman, Lenora Bordeau, Beth Bordeau, Kara Bordeau, Sarah Bordeau, Claire Stockman and Savannah Bordeau; her precious great - grandchildren, Domenick and Nathaniel Bordeau. She is also survived by a daughter-in-law, Susan Bordeau of Plattsburgh. She is predeceased by one son, Roger Bordeau; one sister, Anita Durocher Bordeau and her husband, Leonard; and one brother, Edward Durocher. Mary TerryWILMINGTON — Mary Terry, 69, of route 86, and a patient at the Green Manor Health Care Facility, Ghent, N.Y., for 16 months, died Monday, June 10, 2002, at the Columbia Memorial Hospital, Hudson. She was born May 11, 1933, in Wilmington, the daughter of Chester and Dorothy "Warren" Lawrence. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great- grandmother. Member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Post 504. Member of the Wilmington Volunteer Fire Dept. Auxiliary. Founder and President of Wilmington Adirondack Neighbors. Avid fund raiser for her community and a professional "bingo" player. She is survived by five daughters, Dawn Lawrence Fleming of Wilmington, Susan Terry and Ray Weiss of Silver Lake, Hawkeye, Mary and Robert Minogue of Jay, Dorothy Terry Dadds, Tina and Tim Terry Preston; and a son, Charles and Joyce Terry, all of Wilmington; six grandchildren, Veronica Fenn, Christina Suttle, Danielle Dadds, Caitlin Terry, Trebor and Colton Preston; four great - grandchildren, Anthony Terry, Jordan Terry and Johnathan and Shawnee Fenn; a sister, Harriet Blaise; and four brothers, Albert, Delbert, Philip and Leander Lawrence. She was employed as a domestic at the Champlain Valley Hospital in Plattsburgh for many years. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Florence Reyell of Dannemora; three daughters and two sons-in- law, Gert Barcomb of Rochester and Palm Bay, Fla., Bernice and Bob Woodley of Palm Bay, Fla., and Millie and Bob Deets of California; two brothers, Raymond Baker of Morrisonville and Mitchell Baker of Wisconsin; two sisters, Jeannette Cayea of Plattsburgh and Beatrice Fassett of Beekmantown; and several grandchildren and great - grandchildren. KATHERINE "KAY" CAMPBELL, 83, of State Route 37, Constable, N.Y., died Wednesday, June 12, 2002, at her home.
