William M. Frandino

Plattsburgh — William M. Frandino, 73, of Plattsburgh, died Wednesday, June 5, 2002, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

He was born in Ticonderoga on Dec. 12, 1928, the son of Carl and Josephine (Lipresti) Frandino.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.

He was a 1946 graduate of Whitehall High School. After graduating from P.S.U.C. in 1951, he accepted a teaching position in a one room schoolhouse on Hammond Lane. Beekmantown soon centralized the school district and he became a teacher then principal at the Main Building and West Chazy Schools.

In 1963, Mr. Frandino was appointed the first principal of the new district building at Cumberland Head. He remained principal of the school until his retirement. He owned and operated Guibord and Hapgood Insurance in Plattsburgh for many years.

He was a member of the Plattsburgh Elks Lodge BPOE 621, the N.Y.S. Retired Teachers Association, the Adirondack Golf Club, the N.Y.S. Retired Administrators Association and a former member of Bluff Point Golf Club.

He was very active in the Democratic Party.

He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Lori Frandino and David Sanchez-Navarro of Walpole, N.H.; a longtime friend, Heidi Haselton of Plattsburgh; a sister, Catherine Aiken of Whitehall; and several nieces and nephews.

His wife, the former Mary O’Connell, whom he married on June 14, 1952, died before him.

Calling hours will be held on Friday from 3 to 6 p.m. at the O’Neill - Redden - Drown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday from St. Peter’s Church in Plattsburgh. Interment will follow in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery in Whitehall.

JOHN G. KURTYKA, 50, of State Road 9N in Ticonderoga, died Wednesday, June 5, 2002, at his home following a long illness.

A veteran, He was born in Springfield, Mass., on Aug. 11, 1951.

A memorial service will be held at the Connery & Gunning Funeral Home in Ticonderoga at 2 p.m. on Monday, June 10, 2002. Burial will follow at the Gerald Solomon National Cemetery in Saratoga.

JANE L. CHAPPELLE, 72, of Mineville, N.Y., died Wednesday, June 5, 2002, at the Community Hospital, Elizabethtown, N.Y.

She was born April 3, 1930, at Moriah, N.Y., the daughter of Rufus & Bertha (McConley) Hanchett.

There will be no calling hours. A funeral service will be conducted Saturday, June 8, 2002, at 1 p.m. at the Mount Moriah Presbyterian Church, Port Henry. Burial will follow in the Moriah Union Cemetery, Moriah, N.Y.
