James Arthur Doddemeade

Peru — James Arthur Doddemeade, 73, of the Bear Swamp Road, Peru, died Wednesday, June 5, 2002, at the Skilled Nursing Facility at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

He was born in Dunneville, Ontario, Canada, Aug. 7, 1928, the son of Harold and Olive (Newman) Doddemeade.

He married the former Forest Lynne Hall, Feb. 14, 1959, in Edinburgh, Texas.

Mr. Doddemeade and his wife owned and operated "The Wedding Belle" and "Gallery One Studio" in Plattsburgh.

Survivors include his wife, Forest Lynne Doddemeade of Peru; one daughter, Joni Lynne Doddemeade of Florida; two sons and daughters-in-law, James Ralph and Elizabeth Doddemeade of Connecticut, and John Douglas and Penny Doddemeade of Virginia; three grandchildren, Nicole Golden of California, Matthew Thomas of Virginia and Emily Sara of Virginia; a stepgrandson, Bryan Pitcher; one niece, Margo Sarbou, her husband, Michael, and children, D.J., Joshua and Hilarie; one aunt, Helen Britton of Batavia; cousins, Brian Britton and Mary Britton, both of Batavia; and a sister-in-law, Joan Hall; and her son, Stephen.

A memorial service will be held June 16, 2002, at 1 p.m. at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Peru, with Rev. Kenneth Parker, pastor, of the Peru Community Church, officiating.

Donations in his memory may be made to Hospice of the North Country or the Skilled Nursing Facility at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

Patrick V. Carr

Willsboro — Patrick V. Carr, 83, of Lakeshore Drive, Willsboro, died suddenly at his camp on Willsboro Point, June 3, 2002.

He was born in New York City, Sept. 24, 1918.

Mr. Carr attended St. Charles College in Maryland receiving a bachelor of arts degree and Dunwoodie, Seminary College in Yonkers, N.Y. Receiving an AB.

He was a teacher at Portsmouth Priory in Rhode Island.

During World War II, he served in the Merchant Marine as a lieutenant, and later joined the Naval Reserve from which he retired as a Lieutenant.

In 1965 he also retired from the Federal Government as a special agent in the CIA. He was an ordained Deacon in the Roman Catholic Church and a Chaplain in the Montclair Community St. Vincent’s and Mountainside Hospitals.

He was a trustee for the Bloomfield Public Library. Locally he and his wife were members of St. Philip’s of Jesus Church in Willsboro.

Mr. Carr is survived by his wife, of 58 years, Marie McCauley Carr; sons and their wives, Robert and Lori Carr of New Hope, Pa., Quentin and Sharon Carr of Succasunna, N.J., Rick Carr of Kalama, Wash., William and Heather Carr of Nutley, N.J.; and a daughter and her husband, Christine and James Britt of Mobile, Ala.; and 13 grandchildren.

Calling hours will be held at the Huestis Funeral Home, Willsboro, Saturday June 8, 2002, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, June 8, 2002, at St. Philip’s of Jesus Church, Main Street, Willsboro. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lakeshore Road, Willsboro.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the local rescue squad or St. Joseph’s Dunwoodie Seminary, Yonkers, NY 10704-1896,

Kenneth H. Darrah

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. — Kenneth H. Darrah, 80, of Smith Street, died Wednesday, June 5, 2002, at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

He was born in Burlington, Vt., on April 15, 1922, son of the late Robert H. and Anna M. (Sorrell) Darrah.

Ken was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army, serving in Italy and France.

He was and avid fisherman and hunter, he loved music and dancing.

Ken was a member of St. John's Church in Plattsburgh, a member of the Disabled American Veterans and a former member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Ken is survived by three sons and a daughter-in-law, Kenneth T. and Mary Darrah of Plattsburgh, Calvin R. Darrah of Plattsburgh and Duane R. Darrah of Plattsburgh; seven daughters and six sons-in-laws, Ethel C. and James Joyce of Washingtonville, Dolores Moses of Peru, Deborah and Ronald Duell of Plattsburgh, Tanya and Gary LaFountain of Plattsburgh, Lonnie and Gary Bedard of Schuyler Falls, Roseva and Garen Arnold of Peru, Kimberly and Donald Moyer of Milton; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Carl and Florence Darrah of Plattsburgh and Leon Darrah of Plattsburgh; 29 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Ken was predeceased by his wife, Doris E. Darrah; one son, Roland D. Belgarde; a brother, Robert Darrah; and a sister, Edna Gleason.

Calling hours will be Friday, June 7, 2002, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday, June 8, 2002, at 1 p.m. from St. John’s Church in Plattsburgh. Burial will follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Plattsburgh.

Donations in Ken’s name may be made to the FitzPatrick Cancer Center at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

Cecelia L. LaMar

Plattsburgh — Cecelia L. LaMar, 79, of Court Street, died Tuesday, June 4, 2002, at Clinton County Nursing Home in Plattsburgh, surrounded by her sister, Gertrude, her niece and nephew, Sue and Charlie Crowningshield.

She was born in Schuyler Falls on June 9, 1922, daughter of Abraham and Ida (Rivers) LaMar.

Cecelia was a member of St. John’s Church in Plattsburgh.

She provided child care to many North Country families and ran the nursery at 9:30 Mass at St. John’s Church.

Cecelia was a member of the Legion of Mary and St. John’s Altar Rosary Society.

Cecelia is survived by three sisters and a brother-in-law, Valerie and Leslie Ginett of Clintonville, Gertrude LaMar of Peru and Hazel Rabideau of Cadyville; a brother and sister in law, Leo and Phoebe LaMar of Peru; and several nieces and nephews.

Cecelia was predeceased by two brothers and sisters-in-law, Leonard and Mildred LaMar, Arthur and Mildred "Pug" LaMar; two sisters, Ruth Ann LaMar and Laura LaMar Taylor.

Calling hours will be Friday, June 7, 2002, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. from Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday, June 8, 2002, at 10 a.m. from St. John’s Church in Plattsburgh. Burial will follow in St. Augustine’s Cemetery in Peru.

Donations may be made in Cecelia’s memory to St. John’s Endowment Fund.

RALPH F. "SQUEAK BOX" CHARLAND SR. of Granville formally of Lyon Mountain, 54, died Friday, May 31, 2002, at Glens Falls Hospital following a long illness.

He was born Oct. 11, 1947, in Malone, N.Y.

GLADYS BRADSHAW DAINKO, of Riverside, Ill., and formerly a summer resident at the Hazen & Bradshaw residences, died Sunday, May 26, 2002, in Missouri while on a Senior Citizen Trip.

She was born in New Jersey, Aug. 29, 1922, the daughter of Arthur and Augusta (Otte) Bradshaw.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, June 8, 2002, at 11 a.m. at the North Jay Cemetery, AuSable Forks. Zaumetzer - Sprague Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

ERWIN J. BESSETTE, 67, of the Stacy Road, died Tuesday, June 4, 2002, at his home.

He was born Feb. 18, 1935, in Chateaugay, N.Y., the son of Nelson and Jane Roland Bessette.

Calling hours will be Friday, June 7, 2002, from 9 a.m. until time for the service at 10 a.m. A funeral service is scheduled for Friday, June 7, 2002, at 10 a.m. in the St. Mary-Murphy Funeral Home chapel, with Rev. Fay Ager officiating.

PORTER — A graveside service for Howard C. Porter, who passed away Feb. 28, 2002, will take place on Saturday, June 8, 2002, at 10 a.m. at the family plot of the May Memorial Cemetery of Hague. The Rev. William G. Muench will officiate.

Arrangements are under the direction of Wilcox & Regan Funeral Home, Ticonderoga.

ROSS — A Graveside service will be held Saturday, June 8, 2002, at 2 p.m. for Marcia DeLano Ross, who died Jan. 26, 2002, at her home. The service will be held in Maple Hill Cemetery, Champlain Street, Rouses Point.
