Bodette Jr., age 75, a retired Denver Public Schools Social Worker, died suddenly on May 10, 2002, following a heart attack on May 7, 2002. A native of Plattsburgh, Ernie graduated from St. John’s Academy. He received his bachelor of arts and master of social work degrees at the University of Denver. He is survived by his aunt, Doris Rivers; cousins, Barbara Case, Gillis Loy Green and Donna St. Denis, all of Plattsburgh, N.Y., Beulah King, Deming, N.M., Jackie Flynn, Bennington, Vt., Joy Crawford, Keysville, Va., Jane Peryea, Altona, N.Y.; long-time friend, James Meier, Aurora, Colo., and his extended family members. A service to celebrate his life was held at Christ Church United Methodist in Denver on May 23, 2002. A memorial Mass will also be held at a later date in Plattsburgh. David Page FairchildBaton Rouge, LA. — David Page Fairchild, age 91, passed away at his home in Baton Rouge, LA on Jan. 10, 2002. He was born in Oswego, N.Y., Jan. 17, 1910, son of George Cooper and Mabel (Dunham) Fairchild. Mr. Fairchild was a graduate of Plattsburgh High School, having previously attended P.S.T.C. Normal School. He graduated from Hamilton College, a member of the PSIU Fraternity and remained a supporting alumnus member all his life. He did military service as an officer in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Mr. Fairchild was predeceased by his wife, Ruth (Bishop) Fairchild and was widower of Frances M. (Dumas) Sorensen Fairchild. He is survived by his son, D. Page Fairchild (Andrea) of Montreal, Quebec and his daughter, Deborah Bishop Hugh - Jones (Martin) of Baton Rouge, La.; four grandchildren; one great - grandson and a nephew, Samuel D. Fairchild (Francie) of West Chazy, N.Y. He is also survived by his stepson, Carl Sorensen (Jayne) and stepdaughter, Carol Perkins; six stepgrandchildren; and two stepgreat-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2002, at the Chazy Presbyterian Church in Chazy N.Y., at 2 p.m. Edith (Carlson) MayhoodEdith, 73, of Fisher Hill Road, died June 3, 2002, at the Elizabethtown Hospital. She was born March 15, 1929, in Mineville, to C. Arther Carlson and Violet (Dumar) Carlson. She went on to graduate Mineville High School in 1947 and was a graduate of Cortland State Teachers College in 1951, with other schooling from Plattsburgh and Cortland. Edith then started her 30 plus years of teaching at Schroon Lake Central then on to Marathon Central School (Merathon, N.Y. ) and retired from teaching after a long stay at Moriah Central School. Along with trying to know, love and teach each of the hundreds of students that she came in contact with, Edith found time to try and help any person that came to her with any kind of problem. During her career she also served as president of the Teacher’s Association at both Marathon and Moriah, also serving as secretary and advisor to the Mineville High School Alumni Association. Edith was also a member of Kappa Delta Pi, an honorary educators fraternity. In her retirement years, Edith went on to be a active member in the New York State Retired Teachers Assoc. and also the Alter Rosary Society of the Church of All Saints in Mineville. Edith also shared a passion for rummage sales with some of her closest friends. Nothing would make them smile more than to be first in line at some hot sale in the north country. She is also credited for being the inventor of the Rummage Sale Christmas and the never ending attic. Edith is survived by her husband, James Mayhood of Mineville; her five children and their spouses, David and Mary Moyer of Hammondsport, N.Y., Michael and Barbera Mayhood of Schenectady, N.Y., Tank and Anna Mayhood of Mineville, N.Y., Patricia Cuppernull of Houston, Texas, Charles Mayhood of St. Albans, Vt.; seven grandchildren, David, Nicole and Cora Moyer, Colby, Ryan and Catlin Cuppernull and James Mayhood Jr.; Also assorted nieces and nephews and many close friends. Edith was predeceased by her six brothers and sisters. There will be no calling hours. A memorial mass will be held on Saturday June 8, 2002, at 10 a.m. in the Church of All Saints in Mineville. Rev. Marion Ryan GrubolaRouses Point — Marion Ryan Grubola, formerly of Rouses Point, passed away on April 19, 2002, in Santa Barbara, Calif. Marion was born in 1916 in Rouses Point, the daughter of Leslie and Lottie (Miller) Ryan. Her father, Leslie Ryan, was owner and publisher of The North Countryman, a weekly newspaper in the Rouses Point area. In 1961 she and her husband, Edward, who predeceased her in 1995, moved to Santa Barbara, Calif. Marion, an English teacher, was a graduate of St. Lawrence University and Syracuse University. She spent most of her teaching career in Great Neck, N.Y., as chairperson of the English Department. However, her first two years of teaching were in Gatlinburg, Tenn., at the Pi Beta Phi Settlement School. In Santa Barbara she was active in real estate with her husband, was a librarian at the Reeves Medical Library and was a volunteer with the Santa Barbara Sansum Medical Clinic Auxiliary. Marion was deeply appreciative of the friendship she had with friends in Santa Barbara and with her niece, Mary Ellen Lenn, of Northville, Mich. She was also very appreciative of the support she received from her caregivers, Betsy Antoine and Oralia Benitez. Her cremated remains will be interred with those of her late husband at Maple Hill Cemetery in Rouses Point, N.Y. There will be no services. Marion "Peanut"' MessierTICONDEROGA — Marion "Peanut" Messier, 60, formerly of Pine Street in Ticonderoga, died Monday, June 3, 2002, at the Glens Falls Hospital following a brief illness. She was born in Ticonderoga on Dec. 30, 1941, the daughter of Lewis and Elizabeth (Desjadon) Vradenburg. Peanut worked for a number of years at the Ticonderoga OTB Parlor for the Capital District Office Track Belting Corporation. More recently she worked as a nurses aide at the Moses Ludington Nursing Home in Ticonderoga. She was a member of the Ticonderoga American Legion Auxiliary, the Fort Carilion Business and Professional Women Organization and the Ticonderoga Fireman’s Ladies Auxiliary. Besides her mother she is survived by one son, Charles W. Messier Jr. of Ticonderoga; two daughters, Michelle A. Thompson of Crown Point and Marilyn M. Moses of Ticonderoga; five brothers, Edward Vradenburg of Ticonderoga, Thomas Vradenburg of Ticonderoga, Fredrick Vradenburg of Massachusetts, Donald Vradenburg of Ticonderoga and William Vradenburg of Ark.; four sisters, Elizabeth (Betty) Mason, Peanut’s twin sister, Mary Gonyo, Patricia Blowers and M. Jane Wright, all of Ticonderoga; six grandsons, Emmett Thompson Jr., Lance Hargett, Michael Moses, Jonathan Moses, John C. Carr and Joseph Messier: two granddaughters, Starsha Moses and Jessica Carr; two great- grandchildren, Dakota Trombley and Jermy Fuller Jr.: 19 nieces and nephews; and 21 great-nieces and nephews. Besides her father, she is predeceased by two sons, Michael and Mickey Messier. Calling hours will be held today Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Connery & Gunning Funeral Home in Ticonderoga. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. at the funeral home on Thursday, June 6, 2002, the Rev. William Muench of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ticonderoga officiating. Burial will follow in the family plot in the Valley View Cemetery in Ticonderoga. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials in Peanut’s name to the American Cancer Society. Carolyn "June" COOPER, of the Springfield Road, died Monday, June 3, 2002, at the Adirondack Medical Center, Saranac Lake. June was born April 1, 1921, in Burke, the daughter of Branchford J. and Mildred "Orton" Cook. There will be no calling hours.
