Published 5/29/02Janice M. McLeanKeeseville — Janice M. McLean, 37, of Grove Street, Keeseville, died Saturday, May 25, 2002, at her home. She was born in Oklahoma, June 6, 1964, daughter of Delbert Dewey and the late Gladys Dewey. Janice worked at CVPH Medical Center in Nutritional Services. She enjoyed spoiling her children and grandchildren and spending time with the whole family. She was a loving wife, grandmother, mother, daughter and sister. Janice also enjoyed playing bingo. She was well known for helping with fundraising benefits for the needy. Survivors include her father and stepmother, Delbert and Marilyn Dewey of Blanchard, Okla.; a brother, Delbert Dewey, Jr. of Blanchard, Okla.; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Delena and Jimmy Cantrell of Breckenridge, Texas, and Norma Dewey of Breckenridge, Texas; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends. Calling hours will be held Thursday from 3 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Keeseville. A funeral service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at St. John’s Church in Keeseville, with Rev. Garvin Demarais, pastor, officiating and Rev. Sally White, pastor of the Keeseville and Harkness United Methodist Churches and Deacon John Levison, deacon at the Alton Correctional Facility, assisting. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery in Keeseville. Donations in her memory may be made to the family. William J. McLeanKeeseville — William J. McLean, 43, of Grove Street, Keeseville, died Saturday, May 25, 2002, at his home. He was born in Manchester, N.H., Feb. 3, 1959, the son of Dorothy A. (Carkhuff) and the late, Howard T. McLean. William worked at AuSable Chasm and was a past member of the Keeseville Volunteer Fire Department. He was a loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle and grandfather. He enjoyed being with his family, working on cars and taking care of his lawn. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, and golfing. Survivors include his mother, Dorothy McLean of Keeseville; four daughters and one son-in-law, Angela and Mike Rivers of Keeseville, Summer McLean and fiancé, Kenneth Rivers of AuSable Forks, Carrieann McLean and fiancé, Jason Fletcher of AuSable Forks and Alicia McLean and fiancé, Shawn Hart of Boerne, Texas; two sons and one daughter - in - law, William Jr. and Robyn McLean of Peru and Justin McLean of Keeseville; seven grandchildren, Brooke, Alexander, Brandon, Kenneth Jr., Isaac, Little Jay man and Tyler John; one brother and sister-in-law, Hugh and Vicky McLean of Bracey, Va.; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Ann and Nicholas LaFountain, and Rosemary and Mark Burrell, all of Keeseville; and several nieces and nephews, cousins and aunts and uncles. Anna McGovern FarrellPlattsburgh — Anna McGovern Farrell, 100 years old, died Sunday, May 26, 2002, at the Meadowbrook Healthcare Facility in Plattsburgh. She was born in Bradford, Mass., on Aug. 15, 1901. She was a graduate of Boston University, where she received a Master of Arts degree in English and History. She married Orin Ford Farrell of Manchester, N.H., on Sept. 3, 1930, in Haverill, Mass. They then resided in Manchester, N.H., where Mr. Farrell owned the Chas. M. Floyd Co. Mr. and Mrs. Farrell had three daughters, Edith Seiferth, Mrs. George Seiferth Jr. of Plattsburgh, N.Y., Paula Flask, Mrs. Paul A. Flask of Winnetka, Ill., and Linda Taylor of Annandale, Va. She leaves five grandchildren, LTC George F. Seiferth III, Paula Kremer, William Seiferth, Brooke Flask and Orin Flask; and seven great- grandchildren, Elizabeth, Eadie and Jody Kremer, William and James Seiferth and Rick and Anna Seiferth. Anna lived for several years in Clifton Park, N.Y., before moving to Plattsburgh to be closer to her daughter, Edith. People may remember Anna’s 100th birthday, which was celebrated last August, with the many residents of Meadowbrook and family and friends from all over the country. She was a lover of art, music, and poetry. In her earlier years she enjoyed golf, bridge and painting. Anna was a dedicated teacher, a loving mother, and will be greatly missed by her family and friends. A memorial Mass will be celebrated Saturday, June 22, 2002, at 1:30 p.m. from St. John’s Church in Plattsburgh, N.Y. Burial will take place at the convenience of the family in the St. Mary’s Cemetery in Waterford, N.Y. Arrangements are with the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. Ethel DavisMOOERS — Ethel Davis, 99, of LaValley Road, Mooers and Port St. Lucie, Fla., died Monday, Jan. 14, 2002, at the Hospice of the Treasure Coast in Fort Pierce, Fla. She was born in Hemmingford, Quebec, on Nov. 7, 1902, the daughter of Moses and Lucy Ann (Lockhart) English. Mrs. Davis was the widow of Samuel G. Davis who died on June 9, 1967. She was an avid antique collector and enjoyed gardening. Ethel was a member of the United Methodist Church in Mooers. She is survived by one daughter, Ivy Davis of Mooers and Port St. Lucie. She was predeceased by one daughter, Irma Challis on Oct. 18, 1992. A committal service was held on Wednesday, May 22, 2002, in Riverside Cemetery in Mooers. Rev. Arthur Northrup, pastor of the United Methodist Church, conducted the service. The R. W. Walker Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Cora E. CookCROWN POINT, N.Y. — Cora E. Cook, 78, of Main Street, Crown Point, died Monday, May 27, 2002, at her home. She was born on Sept. 9, 1923, at Port Henry, N.Y., the daughter of Thomas and Iva (Maple) Edwards. Cora was employed as a Secretary / Bookkeeper at the Horton Strong Garage in Crown Point for 38 years. She also worked for The Town of Crown Point and Vincent S. Jerry Garage. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Robert E. Cook; her daughter, Linda Cook of Vergennes, Vt.; her sisters, Helen Aldrich of Corinth, N.Y., and Marilyn Bryan of Ogdensburg; her niece, Sharon Edwards; her nephews, Franklin Hughes and John Snell. She was predeceased by her sisters, Gertrude Snell and Anna Hughes. There will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 30, 2002, at the Congregational Church Cemetery, Crown Point, N.Y. Rev. Brian Kimble officiating. POLAND died May 19, 2002, in Ogdensburg, N.Y., born Oct. 1, 1926, in Plattsburgh, N.Y., to Edward and Rose (Barber) Poland. A memorial service was held Tuesday, May 21, 2002, at the Lawrence Funeral Home in Ogdensburg, N.Y., followed by burial in St. John’s the Baptist Cemetery, Keeseville, NY. Dorothy I. Smith, 77, of State Route 37, Malone, N.Y., died unexpectedly at her home, Monday, May 27, 2002. She was born in Malone, N.Y., on July 14, 1924, the daughter of the late Joseph and Bertha Dibble Fountaine. There are no calling hours. Funeral services will be private, with burial in Steven’s Cemetery in Skerry. Arrangements are through the Bruso - Desnoyers Funeral Service of Malone.
