Published 5/23/02Martha PikePeru — Martha Pike, 94, of Howard Drive, Peru, passed away peacefully at her home with her family by her side. Martha was born in Newark, N.Y., Feb. 3, 1908. She enjoyed talking with family and being at home, shopping, rides in the car and being the center of the family’s attention. She is survived by her loving family whom she has lived with for many years, Carolyn and Steven Maicus and children; and friend and caregiver, Nancy Ano and her children; also surviving are numerous other friends from her SUNMOUNT family. A funeral service will be held Friday, May 24, 2002, at 1:30 p.m. at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Peru, with Rev. Michael J. San Soucie, pastor of the First Assembly of God Church in Plattsburgh, officiating. Burial will follow in the Harkness Cemetery. Donations in her memory may be made to Hospice of the North Country. June Gladys BarkerCHAMPLAIN — June Gladys Barker of Champlain, N.Y., passed away on May 21, 2002. She was walked to the heavenly gates surrounded by her entire family at her home after a long battle with cancer. She was survived by the love of her life and husband of 45 years, Paul E. Barker Sr. of Champlain. She leaves behind five children, Paul and Stacey Barker of Champlain, Ricky and Patricia Barker of Malone, Lorrie and David Robertson of Hemmingford, Quebec, Tammy and Terry Lashway of Champlain, Tracy and Patrick Gooley of Myrtle Beach, S.C.. She also leaves behind four grandchildren who adore her, Jennie Lynn Cringle of Hemmingford, Quebec, Lowell James Robertson of Hemmingford, Quebec, and Tyler and Tara Lashway of Champlain. Also she leaves two brothers and five sisters, Ellanor Hebert of Champlain, Gloria and Jean Julian of South Bridge, Mass., Veronica and Bobby LaCount of Champlain, Cynthia and Fred Mooer of Suncook, N.H., Woodrow and Barb Clark of Pembroke, N.H., Deborah and Bruce Lacke of Swanton, Vt., and David Clark and his companion, Becky Boudreau of Plattsburgh. She is predeceased by her father, Woodrow F. Clark and her mom, Gladys Clark. Most of all she enjoyed her family, Pier 2 and crocheting, walking and spending time with her grandchildren. Calling hours will be Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Clark Funeral Home in Champlain. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Friday at Sacred Heart Church in Chazy. Esther Gretchen Norton MayetteVISTA, CALIF. — Born Oct. 19, 1916, in Port Henry, N.Y., passed away May 12, 2002, in Vista, Calif. She graduated from Chazy Central Rural School in 1936, married in 1937, moved to California in 1957. Her husband, Alfred, predeceased her in 1975. She is survived by her daughters, Sheila Wirt (Joseph) of Simi Valley, Calif., and Sandra Mayette of Vista Calif.; and son, Gary Mayette (Kathy) of St. George, Utah. She is also survived by her sister, Margaret "Sue" Bruce of Chazy; and brother, Frederick (Mary) of Sebring, Ohio; her sisters-in-law, Eleanor Mayette of Dannemora, N.Y., Marie Mayette and Pearl Barcley of Plattsburgh, N.Y., and Theresa Megargee (Tom) of Madison, Conn.; two grandchildren, Donald (Lori) Mayette of Vancouver, Wash., and Jennifer (Tim) Sheneman of Grand Rapids, Mich.; three great-grandchildren, Kara and Andrew Mayette and Christopher Sheneman; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Following cremation, interment will be at a later date near her parents, Sarah and Homer Norton, at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Chazy. Treadway, 71, of Feeder Dam Road, South Glens Falls, N.Y., died Tuesday, May 21, 2002, at her home. She was born at Saranac Lake, N.Y., on April 20, 1931, the daughter of Foster Sr. and Viola (Bombard) Alphonse. Janet worked for the NY Telephone Co. for 42 years, retiring as a supervisor from their Glens Falls office. She is survived by her son, Steven Treadway of Port Henry, N.Y.; her granddaughter, Jeanet Treadway of Moriah, N.Y.; two sisters, Santina Trybendis of Mineville, N.Y., and Betty Vanderhoof of Plattsburgh, N.Y.; her brother, Foster Alphonse Jr. of Winchester, Va.; and several nieces and nephews There will be no calling hours. Britta TerryDelray Beach, Fla., — Britta Furlong Terry, 91, died May 19, 2002, in Delray Beach, Fla., her home for the past two years. A native of Albany, she was a graduate of the Albany Academy for Girls and Wellesley College. Mrs. Terry was predeceased in 1995 by her husband, Donald M. Terry, with whom she lived first in Delmar then for many years in Plattsburgh and winters in Atlantis, Fla.; Her brother, W. Gordon Furlong of Menands, died in 1964. Devoted to her family, she is survived by her son, William F. Terry of Loudonville; her daughter, Phoebe T. Groff of Saratoga Springs and North Fort Myers, Fla.; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a nephew; two nieces; a grandniece; and a grandnephew. He was born April 27, 1952. Gary was a graduate of Venice High School in Venice, Fla. He was a bookkeeper. Gary was secretary of the Southwest Florida Roller Bowlers, a national wheelchair bowling champion in 1983 and in spite of his limitations Gary enjoyed scuba diving, wheelchair basketball and most recently went parasailing on his fiftieth birthday. Gary is survived by his father, George Egglefield of Nokomis, Fla. , two sisters, Lynn Egglefield Ojai, Calif., and Lori Egglefield of Manhattan Beach, Calif.; a brother, Scott Egglefield of Nokomis, Fla.; and one niece and two nephews. A service will be held Thursday, May 23, 2002, at 5:30 p.m. at Oscar Scherer State Park in Nokomis, Fla. Clayton Lee CassevahSCHUYLER FALLS — Clayton Lee Cassevah, 75, formerly of Felton Road died Wednesday, May 22, 2002, at the Meadowbrook Nursing Home surrounded by his family and friends. He was born on Aug. 17, 1926, in West Chazy, N.Y., the son of Joseph and Olive (Stacy) Cassevah. Clayton was an avid fisherman and gardener and enjoyed being around the ones he loved. He will be greatly missed by all and the love he showed everyone will never be forgotten. Survivors include three sons, Ronald and Barbara McGee of California, Randy and Debbie Cassevah of AuSable Forks, N.Y., and Kevin Cassevah of Plattsburgh, N.Y.; six daughters, Donna and Larry Prenoveau of Plattsburgh, N.Y., Debbie and Mike Imhoff of Schuyler Falls, N.Y., Cindy and Steve Williams of Plattsburgh, N.Y., Cheryl Cassevah and her fiancé, Dan Shaughnessy of Keeseville, N.Y., Kimberly Hart of Plattsburgh, and Shelia and Don Anderson of Keeseville, N.Y.; his mother, Olive Cassevah of Schuyler Falls; one brother, George Cassevah Sr. of Plattsburgh; his caregiver and mother of his children, Ethel Stone of Keeseville, N.Y.; 15 grandchildren; five great - grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
