John V. Collins

Bay St. Louis, Miss. — John "Jack" V. Collins, 54, of Bay St. Louis, Miss., died Tuesday, May 7, 2002, at his home.

He was born Aug. 9, 1947, at Plattsburgh, N.Y., to E.A. "Buster" and Catherine "Kay" Collins.

Following his attendance at Saranac Central School he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He was in the Navy for six years and served two tours in the Vietnam War.

In June of 1970, Jack was wed with Lisa Trinidad Veronica Bruno. He had spent several years enjoying the Puerto Rican sun.

In 1978, Jack returned home to his many friends and family in Saranac. However, he wasn't done seeing the world. He went on to be an over the road truck driver.

On Dec. 26, 1981, he married Cheri L. Zemken.

He was a Veterans of Foreign Wars member and later became disabled. He was also one of the over 34,000 veterans whom filed claims regarding the Agent Orange related illness’ and won his case.

Later, Jack went on to live in Mississippi, where he met his companion, Theresa B Chassell. He was proud that wherever he went he made sure that everyone in town knew whom he was. Jack was always cheerful and jolly and loved to socialize with everyone.

Jack is survived by his mother, Catherine "Kay" Collins of Plattsburgh, N.Y.; his two sons, John Collins of Saranac, N.Y., and Matthew Collins of Saranac, N.Y.; two daughters and son-in-law, Carolyn Collins of San Juan, PR , and Kathy and Art Venne of Ft. Edward, N.Y.; his two grandchildren, Kristopher and Cheri. He is survived by his five brothers and sisters-in-law, Bruce and Sherrie Collins of Bradenton, Fla., Terry and Joan Collins of Balston Spa, N.Y., Jimmy and Jackie Collins of West Chazy, N.Y., Barry and Shelia Collins of Malone, N.Y., and Mickey and Kathy Collins of Peru, N.Y.; His two sisters and brothers-in-law, Carolyn and Ken Tedford of Watertown, N.Y., and Jan and Tim Grant of Smithfield, Va. Also, Jack is survived by his ex-wife and friend, Cheri Collins of Saranac, N.Y. Jack was last with and survived by his companion, Theresa B. Chassell of Bay St. Louis, Miss.

Calling hours will be Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 8 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A funeral service will follow in the Brown Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.

Minnie LeFebvre

CHAZY — Minnie LeFebvre, 84, of Chazy, passed away, Friday, May 10, 2002, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

She was born Dec. 13, 1917, in Champlain, the daughter of Herbert and Josephine (Murray) Deso.

Minnie is predeceased by her parents; her husband, Idolat LeFebvre; two brothers, Herbert Deso and Richard Deso; three sisters, Rita Abere, Lillian Arruda and Maude Deso.

She is survived by one brother, Joseph Deso of Champlain; a sister, Beatrice Castine of Champlain; several nieces and nephews and Carl and Rita LaDue of Chazy, who she was living with at the time of her death.

Calling hours will be Saturday from noon to 2 p.m. at the Clark Funeral Home in Champlain. A funeral service will be at 2 p.m. from the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Coopersville.

Patricia L. Adams

Liverpool — Patricia LaFrance Adams, 71, of Greenpoint, Liverpool, died Saturday, May 4, 2002, at Francis House.

She was born in Plattsburgh. She lived in the Syracuse area for most of her life and previously lived in California. She was a communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church.

Her first husband, Charles C. LaFrance, died in 1971. Her second husband, Harold K. Adams, died in 1999. A son, David LaFrance, died in 1966.

Survivors include five sons, Chip, Ken and Timothy LaFrance, all of Cicero and Keith and Doug LaFrance, both of Syracuse; seven sisters, Bette Hebert of Warners, Barbara Bradt and Susan Millett of Liverpool, Jean Crisp of Florida, Sandy Cerio of Cicero, her twin sister, Theresa Cahill of California and Rita Zambito of Rochester; four brothers, Bob Millett of Plattsburgh, Jack Millett of Liverpool, Jerry Millett of Eastwood and Tom Millett of Minoa; and 16 grandchildren.

Services were held on Tuesday at Farone & Son Funeral Home and in Blessed Sacrament Church. Burial was in St. Mary’s Cemetery in DeWitt.

Helen E. Stone, 81, of Hughesville, Pa., and formerly of Plattsburgh, passed away Thursday, May 9, 2002, at the Muncy Valley Hospital.

Calling hours will be Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home, Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 11 a.m. from St. Peter’s Church. Interment will follow in St. Peter’s Cemetery.

Joseph Maron Maroun, 83 of Park Street, died unexpectedly at his home May 8, 2002.

He was born Oct. 10, 1918, in Tupper Lake, the son of Joseph and Rose (Abraham) Maroun.

Calling hours were held Friday, May 10, 2002, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Richer Funeral in Tupper Lake. A funeral Mass will be said Saturday, May, 11, 2002, at 11 a.m. at St. Alphonsus Church, with Father George Maroun officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow at St. Alphonsus Cemetery.
