Published 4/25/02Ralph W. Binion Jr.SCHUYLER FALLS — Ralph W. Binion Jr., 55, of Guide Board Road, and formerly of Syracuse died Tuesday afternoon, April 23, 2002, at the CVPH Medical Center. He was born in Ogdensburg on April 8, 1947, the son of the late Ralph W. and Betty (Keaton) Binion Sr. Survivors include his wife, Jaqueline Binion of Schuyler Falls; one son and daughter-in-law, Ralph and Roberta Binion III of Montgomery, Ala.; three daughters, Angel Binion and her fiancé, Bobby Powell of Scottsburg, Va., Brandee Binion of Plattsburgh and Natalee Blanks of Schuyler Falls; his mother, Betty Binion of Lisbon; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Leon Binion and his wife, Vivian of Ogdensburg and Joseph Binion of Ogdensburg; two sisters and two brothers-in-law, Mrs. John (Ruth) Reed of Prescott, Ontario, and Mrs. George (Cindy) Adams of Ogdensburg; five grandchildren, Donald Binion, Jacquie Binion, Emma Binion, Christieanna Blanks and Cason Blanks. He was predeceased by one sister, Mary Binion; one grandchild, Katie Blanks; and a close friend, Richard Clarke. Ralph grew up in Lisbon, N.Y., and graduated from Lisbon Central High School in 1965. He pursued an associate’s degree in business administration from State University of New York, Canton and Rothel’s Business School. He graduated from disc jockey school in New York City in 1968 and worked as a DJ in Ogdensburg for a short time. Ralph was a business administrative assistant for Urban Renewal and then became a house husband to take care of his two young children. Mr. Binion worked as a therapy aide at St. Lawrence Psychiatric Hospital from 1979 through 1992 when he was transferred to Hutchings Psychiatric Center in Syracuse. He moved to Schuyler Falls in January of 2002 to be close to his family. On his birthday, April 8, 2002, he proposed to his ex-wife and best friend, Jacqueline S. Polhemus Binion Clarke. His long time dream came true when the couple wed on Friday, April 19, 2002, in the chapel at CVPH. Ralph was the ultimate sports fan. He spent his free time watching baseball, football, basketball and hockey. (Golf would do if no other sports were on television.) The Yankees were his favorite baseball team and a tear would come to his eye at the mention of Mickey Mantle’s name. He amassed a collection of sports memorabilia over the years that could fill an entire house. He also love fishing in the St. Lawrence and visiting the lights and slots of Las Vegas. Ralph’s caring eyes and generous personality will be sorely missed. His grandchildren will always treasure the time that they spent with their very own Santa Claus. The love he brought into the lives of those he touched will remain in the hearts of his family and friends. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A funeral service will be held on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Memorial donations may be made to the family to help with medical expenses. Ralph Milton BozarthLAKE PLACID — Ralph Milton Bozarth PE, 84, of Lake Placid, N.Y., died of cancer at Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake on Tuesday, April 23, 2002. He was born in Burlington, N.J., a long-time resident of Burlington County, N.J., and a graduate of Drexel University in Philadelphia, Pa. In 1977, he relocated to Lake Placid, N.Y., and purchased a farm, which he and his wife, Virginia, renamed Sweetwood Farms. A licensed professional engineer in NY, NJ and PA, he practiced as a consultant to U.S. Navy during World War II. He established engineering design and operating criteria for electrical power for shipboard application. Subsequently, he was an executive with H. K. Porter Electrical Division in Pittsburgh, PA. In later years, he practiced as an engineering consultant to public utilities, appearing in court as an expert witness. He also innovated electrical power systems and equipment for the high - speed railway system. An avid golfer, Mr. Bozarth was a member of the Craig Wood Golf Club in Lake Placid, past president of the Burlington County Country Club in N.J. and a former member of the Seaview Country Club in Absecon, N.J. He was also a member and past master of the Masonic Lodge in Burlington, N.J. Mr. Bozarth was recently honored by the Engineering National Honor Society, Tau Beta Pi, for his "...high academic standing" and his "character." .. -Your integrity; your breadth of interest; and your willingness to give unselfishly of yourself for the betterment of your school, your profession, and your fellow human beings." His wife, Virginia Reeve Bozarth, of more than 55 years died in Lake Placid in 1995. He is survived by his wife of four years, Rita Wilkins Bozarth; his son, Ralph M. Bozarth, Jr. and his wife Susan of Southampton, N.J.; and his daughter, Susan Straight and her husband Larry of Lake Placid, N.Y., There are two grandchildren, Tracey Ann Nippins of Beach Haven, N.J. and Buffy Maiorca and her husband, Steve of Lake Placid, N.Y.; and three great - grandchildren, Tierney Nippins and Taylor and Draw Maiorca. Friends may call at the Clark Funeral Home in Lake Placid on Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Friday April 26, 2002, at 11 a.m. at the Adirondack Community Church in Lake Placid, with the Rev. Andrea Sears officiating. Burial will be in the North Elba Cemetery. Ewings, 73, of Vine Street in Keeseville, died Wednesday, April 24, 2002, at his home. There are no public calling hours. Arrangements are by the Hamilton Funeral Home in Keeseville. Edwin H. Arthur, 64, of LaBarge Drive, Plattsburgh, and Fort Pierce, Fla., died Wednesday, April 24, 2002, at his home in Fort Pierce, Fla. Arrangements are incomplete with the Hamilton Funeral Home in Peru. |
