The Honorable Marie J. Huntington

Ticonderoga — The Honorable Marie J. Huntington, 52, passed away suddenly at her home on Tuesday, April 16, 2002.

She was born in Ticonderoga, June 26, 1949, the daughter of the late Louis D. Fuller and Jane M. (Bain) Fuller of Putnam Station.

Marie served with pride as a Ticonderoga Town Justice at the time of her death. She spent her entire life serving others. She began her career as a beautician, owning and operating the "Something Different Hair Boutique" for over 25 years. Marie received a business certificate from North Country Community College. She was very successful in the Real Estate business for over 15 years. Most recently, she was an Associate Broker and partner of Brannock Properties.

Marie had been a member of the Moses-Ludington Hospital Board and a Town of Ticonderoga Board Trustee. Marie made countless accomplishments in her life. She was most proud of the time she spent with and the things she did for her family. She enjoyed antiquing, gardening, reading and golf. Marie lived for trips of "chance" with her friends and family.

She was predeceased by one brother, Robert L. Fuller.

Survivors include her husband of 23 years, Leonard C. Huntington; her mother, Jane Bain Fuller; and her sister, Betty Lou Fuller, both of Putnam Station; her three daughters and their husbands, Shari and Terry Brannock of Ticonderoga, Kari and Bruce Bruce of Schroon Lake and Tara and Marshall Rocque of Ticonderoga; three grandsons, Kaleb R. Bruce, Konner G. Bruce and Brody D. Rocque; one granddaughter, Chloe Marie Rocque; two stepgrandsons, Terry Brannock and Seth Brannock; one nephew, Dana J. McLaughlin; one niece, Tamara L. McLaughlin; and the family dog, Kate. She is also survived by her best friends and travel companions, Tim and Sally O’Connor and Bob and Sue Thatcher.

Relatives and friends may call Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Wilcox & Regan Funeral Home, 11 Algonkin St., Ticonderoga. A funeral service will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at the United Presbyterian Church in Putnam Station. The Rev. Floyd Freed will officiate. Interment will follow at the family plot of the Valley View Cemetery of Ticonderoga.

The family requests memorial donations be made in her memory to the following, The Cancer Center of Albany Medical Center, Albany, New York to further brain cancer research or the Moses-Ludington Nursing Home, c/o Recreation Director, Wicker Street, Ticonderoga, New York 12883.

Dr. Charles T. Nephew

AIKEN, S.C. — Dr. Charles T. Nephew, 66, of Crane Court, Aiken, S.C., beloved husband of Alice (Klispie) Nephew, died Tuesday, April 16, 2002, at his residence.

He was a native of Plattsburgh, N.Y., and was the son of the late Charles Theodore and Katheryn (Weir) Nephew.

Dr. Nephew was a graduate of St. John’s Academy, Class of 1953 and College of the Holy Cross, Worcester, Mass., Class of 1957. He received his master’s degree in education from the State University of Plattsburgh and his doctorate of education at the State University of New York at Buffalo.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

Dr. Nephew was Superintendent of Schools in Southhold, N.Y., from 1983 until his retirement in 1991. He previously served as Superintendent in Walton, N.Y., from 1972 until 1983.

Dr. Nephew was appointed by the Governor of New York to the Board of Trustee’s at Delhi College. He received the Educator of the Year Award in 1991.

Dr. Nephew moved to Aiken, S.C., with his wife in 1996. He was a member of Phi Delta Kappa and the Woodside Country Club.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a son, Daniel Jacob Nephew of Boston, Mass.; a brother, John Weir Nephew of Plattsburgh, N.Y.; and a sister, Katheryn Nephew Chasse’ of Williamsburg, Va.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home and will also receive friends at their home in Woodside Plantation following service Saturday. Funeral service will be held Saturday, April 20, 2002, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Rivers Funeral Home, Aiken, S.C. Interment will be private.

Memorials may be made to Hope Lodge, American Cancer Society, 269 Calhoun St., Charleston, S.C. 29401.

Robert R. Reynolds

Brainardsville — Robert R. Reynolds, 83, of the Reynolds Road, Brainardsville died Wednesday, April 16, 2002, at Alice Hyde Medical Center, Malone, N.Y.

He was born in Brainardsville, N.Y., on July 5, 1918, the son of William and Jessie (Vincent) Reynolds.

Mr. Reynolds is survived by two sisters, Lois Light of Malone, N.Y., and Anna Roberts of Malone, N.Y.; three nieces and a nephew, Joan Evans of Schenectady, N.Y., Diane Gorman of Hilton Head Island, S.C., Noelle Foy of Brockton, Mass., and Ronald Reynolds of Spencerport, N.Y.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Vincent Reynolds on June 2, 1975, and Myers (Buster) Reynolds on Dec. 11, 1987.

Mr. Reynolds attended Brainardsville local schools until the 8th grade and graduated from Chateaugay High School.

During his 38 years as an electrician, he was employed at Republic Steel, Lyon Mountain, High Line Construction for the Seaway and other projects through out New York State which included the housing on Plattsburgh Air Force Base. In his later years, he was self-employed doing residential and farm electrical work.

He was a member of the Brainardsville United Methodist Church and was on the board of directors for the Brainardsville Cemetery.

Calling hours will be held at the Chateaugay Funeral Home on Thursday, April 18, 2002, from 1 to 3 p.m. Funeral services will follow at 3 p.m. in the funeral home chapel, with Rev. Eleanor Bellows of Brainardsville United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will take place at Brainardsville Cemetery, Brainardsville.

Memorial donations may be made to Chateaugay Rescue Squad or Alice Hyde Nursing Home Family Counsel.

Louise R. Dudley, 86, of Meadowbrook Nursing Home in Plattsburgh and formerly of Keeseville Country Gardens, died Tuesday, March 26, 2002, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday, at 10 a.m. at St. John’s Church in Keeseville, with Rev. Garvin Demarais, pastor, celebrating. Burial will follow in the Pine Ridge Cemetery in Saranac Lake.

Arrangements are with the Hamilton Funeral Home in Keeseville.

Ronald Shane, 70, of Maiden Lane, Peru, died Wednesday, April 17, 2002, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by the Hamilton Funeral Home in Peru.

Eileen N. Fisher, 78, of Moody Road, Malone, N.Y., died Wednesday morning, April 17, 2002, at the Alice Hyde Medical Center in Malone. She had been a patient there since April 1, 2002.

She was born in Belmont, N.Y., Aug. 29, 1923, the daughter of the late George and Mary (White) Lucey.

Calling hours will be Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Bruso-Desnoyers Funeral Home in Malone. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday at 10 a.m. at Notre Dame Church in Malone. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery in Malone.

Patricia A. Tierney, 53, of the Henry Road, Malone, N.Y., died Tuesday night, April 16, 2002, at the Alice Hyde Medical Center in Malone. She had been a patient there since April 14, 2002.

She was born in Mineville, N.Y., July 16, 1948, the daughter of Darwin and Viola Baker Tierney.

Calling hours will be Friday from 9 until 11 a.m. at the Bruso-Desnoyers Funeral Home in Malone, A funeral service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel, with the Rev. Msgr. C. John McAvoy officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery on the Lake Titus Road in Malone.

Kerwin W. Hutchins, 81, of Cadyville, died Tuesday, April 16, 2002, at Fletcher - Allen Health Care in Burlington, Vt.

He was born in Lewis on Nov. 29, 1920, the son of Walter and Eva (Ferris) Hutchins.

There will be no calling hours. Services will be held at the convenience of the family. The O'Neill - Redden - Drown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh is in charge of arrangements.

LAWRENCE P. WELCH, 60, of Old Military Road, passed away suddenly Wednesday, April 17, 2002, at the Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake.

He was born in Potsdam, N.Y., March 19, 1942, the son of Lawrence and Cora (Buttons) Welch Sr.

Friends may call at the Clark Funeral Home in Lake Placid Friday, April 19, 2002, from 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. Pastor Richard Ducart of the New Hope Christian Fellowship Church in Lake Placid will officiate. Burial will follow in the North Elba Cemetery.

JOSEPH P. SCARDINO, 86, of Greenwood Street, Lake Placid, passed away Tuesday, April 16, 2002, at the Uihlein Mercy Center.

He was born in Denver, Colo., Aug. 19, 1915, the son of Thomas and Mary (Himmelsbach) Scardino.

Friends are invited to call at the Clark Funeral Home in Lake Placid Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Bible Vigil service will be held Friday evening at 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2002, at noon at the Uihlein Mercy Center Chapel, with Rev. Patrick O’Reilly, chaplain, officiating. Cremation will follow.

GRAVELLE — A memorial service for Florence B. Gravelle, 99, who died Jan. 25, 2002, at the Cedar Hedge Nursing Home will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2002, at 2 p.m. in the Three Steeples Church in Champlain.

Family will greet friends immediately following the service in the church parlor. The R.W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh is in charge of arrangements.
